Yeah, he should have way more subs. Who else is risking full on, Wyle E. Coyote style death or disfigurement to educate us? Lots of great info presented in an entertaining way.
If he keeps putting up videos of this quality. His channel will make "ALL KINDS OF GAINS"!!!! Even great things take time to come to full fruition. Plus, we all can share this with friends...
your advice and tips have helped me tremendously. I increased my dead lift working weight by 100lbs today just from what i learned in your deadlift videos. I’m blown away. Thank you for the time you put into this channel.
Just when I thought I'd seen everything there is to know about the dead-lift, along comes professor Brian with some new amazing stuff. I never understood the "push the world away" analogy until now. OUTSTANDING!!! Thank you, dude!
The visual example with bands not only helped me understand the "intention" of a good deadlift form, but also understand another cue someone said that I never really understood. Thank you a lot for that!
Been weightlifting for 20 years and I've learned more from watching six videos on this channel than I have in all that time before! So many great tips and cues. Thank you for posting.
After I used this video to strengthen my own deadlift. I shared it with a friend of mine. hope he gets as much out of it as I did. thanks for the content!
you have clear information, clear voice, and a lot of power! keep working on your channel and I hope one day this channel could be big like ur back lol. big support from Bali!
Damn, those bands as an example to push the world away was so creative and it looked exactly like a deadlift if only a little unstable. Thanks for risking your life to show us that example!
I really love your channel man, so glad you collabed with Alan, your sub base is really dedicated, you deserve more subs who will definitely come in time, your content is great quality and very entertaining
I have watched Pt 1 and Pt2 of this series, along with Alan Thrall's DL video, several times now. Super valuable man. Belly full of air, bend that bar, drive hips forward... ready to hit the gym again.
Just as I expected, amazing job! It must be extremely hard to contribute to the topic with all this quality content and all those experienced people around here on internet, and yet, you were still able to put out useful and original information. Keep it going, man!
Another excellent video! Once I get a car again I'm going to have to take a minute to visit your gym since I live in the Westminster area. Kudos to Alan for pointing me in the right direction here.
Always great info. This is my goto channel for strength training because it is so clear and well presented. I just recently joined a powerlifting/strongman gym because a) I don't live in MD and 2) your information has really inspired me to get better AND stronger at age 46. Thanks Brian!
Fantastic explanation of pushing away the floor while standing on the bands with the bar on the pegs. Can't wait for my next deadlift workout now. Great content as always, Brian, and good luck at nationals!
Many thanks Brian! I've heard and read the que tip about 'pushing the world away' lots of times previously, but, do you know, I've never actually understood it before. You explained it brilliantly and I now get it!
Thanks a lot for the video Brian. The demonstration of the "push the world away" clue was fantastic. Tomorrow I'm going to pull a new 1RM so that was really helpful!
So glad I found this channel so much great content, your channel has helped me out with my deadlifts and picking exercises to help build up a bigger deadlift. Keep it coming !!!
Man, this is the best cues to the deadlift ever! Better than mark bell or others, and I watched every other channal before, glad Alan make me look at your videos, your'e the man! What about Q&A 4??
Dude! You are putting out amazing content! I've been a subscriber since you had 2000! Now your at almost 6k and deserve 1 million keep putting this content out in telling everyone about you , you da mans lmao
Thank you so much for doing that man! It is growing, not as fast as I would like, but growth is growth! It is going to take a lot of hard work and time to because "an overnight success"!
Hahaha dude , the face when you were on those springs XD "I'm too old for this shit " " what am I even doing up here? " Another awesome video man , just had a deadlift session before this came out ,and definitely gonna use this for the next workout. Stay safe , stay awesome
Great video Brian. I learned a ton from this. Can't wait til my next deadlift day to try out some of the cues. I gotta try the explosive warm-ups, that's definitely missing in my workouts. Appreciate all the time that you put into these videos man! Awesome channel!
This was great advice delivered in a very comprehensible way. Now to actually apply it in the gym! I'm definitely guilty of overthinking my deadlift (all of 3 of the big lefts actually to be truthful but deadlift the most) and seeing it go to complete shit.
Yea man, just try to pick out 2-3 cues to run through your head during the lift. If you do more than that, you will get confused and nothing will go right
maybe this will be covered in The next video, but thoughts on The different grips for deadlift? especially mixed grip. man, Your videos are truly great, keep it up
Instructions unclear! I ended up catapulting myself when I tried to stand on bands and deadlift 500 lbs, now there is an imprint of my sweaty face on the roof of my garage! jk great video Brian! Really helpful series, looking forward to pt 3. :D
Really helpfull stuff Brian; keep them coming; can you make a video about bracing tips and exercises ? A lot of us beginers have problems bracing right; and also programing; when I see a program like 5/3/1, I don't understand it quite right; how many sets(do you count the warmup sets) for main lift, and how many exercises/ sets for asistance exercises; thank for all the good content, keep it coming!
I'm glad you found it helpful man! Here is a video I already made on breathing and bracing :ua-cam.com/video/PLHY2-nt-y4/v-deo.html And i will ry to think of how I can integrate your programming questions in future videos! Thanks again!
Belated thanks for replying to some of my questions before - did not know that I had to use google+ to find them. Wondering why I wasn't getting any answers! Another good video, and now I know why deadlift after doing powerclean and press seem better - explosive work first. Also - glute explosion?- isnt that a fart?!
Guys, 1 thumb up for Brian's vid is like 10lbs to your deadlift instantly. If you don't believe just try and go for that PR. Im doing it for couple weeks and now I have to buy more plates :/.
Hi Brian, Thank you for making such informative videos. Can you please make a video showing us your program? You mentioned its the Conjugate Method. It would be awesome if you made a video explaining it. Thanks dude! GL on the Nationals! We are rooting for you !!
Thanks brother! Yea, i have plans on showing different programs I use throughout the year. Right now I hesitate to because it is based on Nationals and I don't really want to give those secrets away before the event. But I will definitely lay out how I use conjugate and some other things as well in he near future!
Hey Brian, you mentioned breaking your back twice. Would you be interested in making a video discussing it and what you did to comeback bigger and stronger? (Happened to hurt my lowerback last week).
I can't talk about one of the times because It has to do with my last job but the first was in MMA so i could talk about that one...Let me see what i can do
Just came across your videos and it has excellent content. Definitely will be binge watching the rest when I have time. What do you recommend for reps and sets for your warm ups (KB swings, box jumps, etc)?
Brian great video as always man; keep up the great work :) you're one of the few fitness UA-camrs that are no bullshit. I got a question about my dead-lift and i feel like not knowing the answer is holding me back. When i position myself for the dead lift i do a body weight Romanian DL sit back and my hips are not too high and not too low. The thing is that I don't know if the bar is suppose to slide up my shins when i pull the weight, or come VERY close to my shins on the way up. years ago I heard Mark Rippetoe say that the bar should stay as close to your body as possible so that makes me think that it should slide up your shins, but then when I started doing the stronglifts 5x5 the guy said that the bar shouldn't touch your shins. I'm just confused. again, my hips are good: not too high (stiff legged DL), and not too low (squatting the weight) they're in between. that range.
Excellent video as usual. I've pick up a ton of tips from you and have helped my form. I do struggle with dead lifts. Here's my question. I can deadlift without a belt just fine. I get worried when I go heavier and try to use my belt. Soon as I deadlift with my belt, I feel a twinge in my lower back. I take the belt off with same weight, no twinge. Any ideas? Belt is tight, my breathing and bracing sucks.
an awesome example of explosiveness in DL is Konstatine "the Kalashnikov" Konstantinov (not sure on spelling) check him out on youtube. russian power lifter. beast.
Never heard of the dimel variation, definitely gonna start doin that. I always do RDLs for warmup after watching one of Alan's vids, what kind of band do you use for the pushing variation in the rack? Definitely gonna try that out, I have a 75lb resistance green band, would that work for it?
Hey Brian, do you have any cues or advice which would be especially useful for a taller lifter such as myself with the deadlift? (6ft5) Also great video once again, I'm really going to try and give the 'push the world away from you' cue ingrained in my head.
Sure man, watch some of the top powerlifters and Strongmen, many of they are 6'5" and taller. they change their set-p a little bit for it but you have the best Guys in the world to imitate. Watch, imitate and learn
This really helped speed up my deadlift today. One question though, how do you not jack up your shoulders with the mixed grip? The hook grip slips on me a bit too much for my liking so I simply have to use the mixed grip
Switch your grip every set. i had am imbalance from the same thing years ago and switching my grip every set has seemed to help. It will feel weir at first, like brushing your teeth with the opposite had, but you will adapt soon
That "Push the world away" demo was the most amazing thing I've seen all week ))
indeed!
Agree 10000000%
Hahahah thank God i didn't do it for nothing! Definitely got dicey!
I think Richard Hawthorne endorses this same expression, but he also said the DL is technically a push...which I don't know if I agree with.
That's cool man, I'll have to look him up and read up on what he says about it
So glad Alan pointed me in your direction, great work on the content.
Thanks Michael, i am glad you like it!
Man, you deserve so many more subscribers. I've at least been telling everyone I know to check out your channel.
Yeah, he should have way more subs. Who else is risking full on, Wyle E. Coyote style death or disfigurement to educate us? Lots of great info presented in an entertaining way.
Hahaha I really appreciate these comments fellas. Hopefully people will find out about he channel sooner than later!
If he keeps putting up videos of this quality. His channel will make "ALL KINDS OF GAINS"!!!! Even great things take time to come to full fruition. Plus, we all can share this with friends...
Yes, yes you can! And I hope you are right!
Yep been sharing these videos and talking this guy up for awhile now! Great content!
your advice and tips have helped me tremendously.
Thanks man, i am so glad it helped!
your tips are so unorthodox...super helpful...Thanks for all the hard work you put in man
The visual example with bands not only helped me understand the "intention" of a good deadlift form, but also understand another cue someone said that I never really understood. Thank you a lot for that!
man I'm on the 2nd video and I'm going to have to rewatch these another couple of times. they are packed with info
The demos of the wrong and right way for each step, to see what bad and good look like, is what makes your videos the best out there.
Thanks so much!
"Pushing the world away" it really works! I added 10lbs to my 5RM instantly. Brian you are my new lifting guru, thank you sensei
That is awesome man, thank you!

Thanks man, i really appreciate that!
Damn, those bands as an example to push the world away was so creative and it looked exactly like a deadlift if only a little unstable. Thanks for risking your life to show us that example!
Hahaha thanks man, it definitely got dicey, but no animals were harmed in the filming of this video
I really love your channel man, so glad you collabed with Alan, your sub base is really dedicated, you deserve more subs who will definitely come in time, your content is great quality and very entertaining

Just as I expected, amazing job! It must be extremely hard to contribute to the topic with all this quality content and all those experienced people around here on internet, and yet, you were still able to put out useful and original information. Keep it going, man!

Thanks so much Nicolas, that means a lot
Great video. I will use this technique to get my DL up
Thanks man, now go kill it!
If you do more than that, you will get confused and nothing will go right
Do you think you could give me a quick critique form on my deadlift? I've been struggling with it so much lately.

Really helpfull stuff Brian; keep them coming; can you make a video about bracing tips and exercises ? Another good video, and now I know why deadlift after doing powerclean and press seem better - explosive work first. Also - glute explosion?- isnt that a fart?!
I think that depends on where you place your air to brace...Not joking. Some people push like they are pooping. Others it stays in their abs.
Great tips man, will use em tomorrow
Guys, 1 thumb up for Brian's vid is like 10lbs to your deadlift instantly. If you don't believe just try and go for that PR. Im doing it for couple weeks and now I have to buy more plates :/.
Hahahaha truth.
Hi Brian,
Thank you for making such informative videos.
Super useful - thanks man!

Hey Brian, you mentioned breaking your back twice. Would you be interested in making a video discussing it and what you did to comeback bigger and stronger? (Happened to hurt my lowerback last week).
P.E.Ds lol
I can't talk about one of the times because It has to do with my last job but the first was in MMA so i could talk about that one...Let me see what i can do
+Brian Alsruhe can't talk bout it? confirmation on super hero...
I cannot confirm or deny...

Hahahah maybe it would work, who knows!?
Really informative, thank you :)
Thanks for checking it out!
nice got me motivated!
That is great man, i am glad it helped!
"Your body is nothing but a meat vehicle"
Yes, yes it is
Brian Alsruhe how can my body be a meat vehicle if it's already a can of monster?
Just came across your videos and it has excellent content. Definitely will be binge watching the rest when I have time. What do you recommend for reps and sets for your warm ups (KB swings, box jumps, etc)?
Thank you
Haha, when I pulled 150kg for the first time in my life, the "OMG this might actually work" also came into my head, verbatim. Good stuff.
Hahahaha thank is awesome!
Epic stuff
Brian great video as always man; keep up the great work :) you're one of the few fitness UA-camrs that are no bullshit. I got a question about my dead-lift and i feel like not knowing the answer is holding me back. When i position myself for the dead lift i do a body weight Romanian DL sit back and my hips are not too high and not too low. I'm just confused. again, my hips are good: not too high (stiff legged DL), and not too low (squatting the weight) they're in between. that range.
I would probably need to see a video but I can tell you that I keep the bar against my shins. I hope that points you in the right direction!
yeah that does help thanks man :) thats what i thought. to keep it against your shins on the way up.
sure thing man!
Best. visual. representation. ever.
Hahah glad it helped!
you deserve all CT FLECHER KALI MUSCLE"s subs and more, i wish you were my coach !
Thank you, we will see what happens!
Any ideas? Belt is tight, my breathing and bracing sucks.
an awesome example of explosiveness in DL is Konstatine "the Kalashnikov" Konstantinov (not sure on spelling) check him out on youtube. russian power lifter. beast.
That guy is a MONSTER!
michael moore Richard hawthorne is against explosiveness and favour slowliness off the floor.
shalom shalom the grind does build strength true. Like when you really.put.effort n in to lift a weight and slowly do so.
that was the best example to show people how to push the world instead of lift the bar
Sir, can u show the correct way to Apply mix hand grip without tearing the bicep.. Especially the hand with palm face out..
I don't think there is too much to say. You juts have to keep your arm completely straight. If you do that, you shouldn't;t have a problem.
Brian Alsruhe tysm sir :)
Never heard of the dimel variation, definitely gonna start doin that. I always do RDLs for warmup after watching one of Alan's vids, what kind of band do you use for the pushing variation in the rack? Definitely gonna try that out, I have a 75lb resistance green band, would that work for it?
I don't think he is advising to do it. Just showed it as an example so you get the que.
Absolutely right! DON"T do that, you will end up falling on your head! i was just showing that to illustrate the cue of "pushing the world away"
Watch, imitate and learn
very helpful
This really helped speed up my deadlift today. One question though, how do you not jack up your shoulders with the mixed grip? The hook grip slips on me a bit too much for my liking so I simply have to use the mixed grip
Switch your grip every set. i had am imbalance from the same thing years ago and switching my grip every set has seemed to help. It will feel weir at first, like brushing your teeth with the opposite had, but you will adapt soon
Brian Alsruhe
Thanks
You got it
