After not finding any plants at any stores or nursery's I tried this method of seed germination, and had no luck with it, what I did after my first failure was freeze the skin , then taking the seeds off and planting them, this worked. Today October 19, 2021, I have over 50 plants growing in my basement in a small greenhouse, they are about 3in tall. I don't know how fast they're going to grow this winter, but I want to put them outside in the spring. Here in Michigan that could be anytime. Don't know If they need to be transplanted again to bigger containers, or keep them in the seed trays they are in now.
Excuse me! I want you to correct my steps I bought the seed from shop. Then I put it in water for 30mn then I put it in the pot with fertilizer . The I cover the plastic like you. I try to put it under the sun 🌞 Then...?
Why did you put it in water? Such minute seeds do not need soaking. And keep it under morning sunlight.😊 Drill holes on the plastic whrn the seeds germinate. When the seedlings grow a bit bigger, remove the plastic. Check out my other strawberry seedlings care videos.😊
Whenever I transplant anything, I make sure it’s never in direct light for the rest of the day. Under a table (indoors or out, depending on the temp needs of the plant) works fine. Otherwise they’re trying to make energy from light AND trying to establish roots, and it’s just too much for the little guys.
I appreciate your strawberry videos, good luck with your future endeavors!!! The one strawberry video got 300k views!!!! AWESOME!!!! You are now famous!
If I have a big pot can I grow more than one seed in there ? Like it already germinated but can I keep them together or should each seed/plant have there own pot even if it’s a big pot
Hey great vid just a couple of questions when is the right time to transplant like how old should they be and how long does it take for it to bear fruit thx so much stay safe
The plant should be atleast 4 to 5 inch in length with multiple sets of true leaves, when u transplant. It might take anywhere around one to two years for the seedlings to fruit. Plants grown from seeds take longer to fruit
@Pink Salt I know right😛 same here,i too thought so. Only in areas where the temperatures remain uniform throughout the year, the plants can fruit in a year
How long did it take for the strawberries to grow that big? Mine have germinated in 2 weeks so far. Thank you so much for the video I feel so much more prepared to transplant
Hey! My strawberries have just begun sprouting! Do you know what is the ideal depth of the soil they need to fruit? I tried planting them on a pot, it's about 12" (30cm) deep and about 8" (20cm) wide. Do you think it will be enough?
Strawberries have shallow root system..so they would prefer wider pots than deep ones. 20 cm width is quite okay..but I'd like to tell you that you need to up pot the seedlings ga as they grow..if you plant a just sprouted seedling in such a huge pot..it will get too much of everything, water, ferts and shock ofcourse. Eventually it will catch fungus and die off..for a seedling,a 3 .5 to max 5 inch inch pot is more than sufficient.
How long does it take for the seedling to grow big enough to be transplanted into the garden? Mine are just now sprouting and I wonder if they'll be big enough to get in the ground come that time.
@@tinaholbrook9719 Ample sun exposure in the early hours of the day,and watering only when the soil is dry on top.. Once every two weeks u can add fungicide in water and use that water for the seedlings
How old were these seedlings? I have germinated some strawberries seeds, they sprouted successfully and have just grown their 3rd leaves.. they are approximately 1month .. how long should I wait to transplant them?
Mine too were around a month old. Wait for another few sets of true leaves. Plant should be around 4 inch in length approx with atleast 4 set of true keaves, before you go ahead with transplanting
This video is crazy knowledgeable for beginner growers who start indoors in red party cups (me). For the fact on how much strawberry seeds you plant in one cup, and the size of this person's seedlings. Thank you.
Hi, I used the combination you mentioned for the pot (30-30-30) and it was successful. The only question I have is what is the usual distance between watering the pots?
You have to keep an eye on the media..if it starts turning light brown on the top it means it needs watering. Also..the container will feel lighter when dry...so that's another indication. Usually with a moisture retentive media and morning sun exposure, you can go for atleast 5 days without watering
My strawberry seedlings always dies when plants start developing crown & side rooting at this point it's main stem dries out & old leafs dries & the plant touches the soil & fungus attack the plant & it dies.
never handle the seedling by the stem only by the leaves also only a few at a time as they dry out very quick in hot climate , water well 2 hr before starting
Sister, I did germinate strawberry from seed early February of this year, the plants age is about 1 month 10 days, two leaves grow and height about 10 mm, when I will transplant on big pot, I am from West Bengal of India,
You can transplant now..but you have to shelter the plant from heat. Actually the transplanting should have been done earlier..when the weather was way cooler.

What do they mainly feed off in the peat/soil mixture? Does peat contain nutrients or the soil or need to add compost?
Initially the cocopeat provides just enough moisture to push the leaves. I have not added any fertilizers.

If they are not too close to each other, you can let them be. If they are too close.. don't try to separate them until they have grown about an inch
how many days before the seeds start to germenate
It varies Rochel. Mine germinated on the 17th day. For others it may take longer or shorter. Depends on the quality of seeds you are using.

Did you use only cocopeat while transplanting?
Here I did so. But ideally you should mix 20% cocopeat 40% vermicompost and 40% sand.
That's great.
What potting mix you suggest for herbs like basil, thyme?
Something that does not hold water. Soil and compost in equal ratios should work.
Good luck for this season. Hoping to see the fully ripe strawberries videos this time. I'll try at home as well. 😊👍

Yes,It would have required another transplant if it outgrew it's pot.
