MY 2019 CAMERA GEAR KIT for Photo/video-kit.com/mannyo....
The eos R with the 15-35L has been crazy good for interiors. This lens is crazy sharp
Rodrigo love this combo for portraits too!
Thing I appreciate about you, Manny, is your forethought and adaptability. That’s the difference in amateur versus professional photographers. Shape the light and use what’s around you. Getting complete strangers to follow instructions when they don’t have to. Love it. Nice work.
That reflect on the car and the couple passing by the model in the middle? Man, you killed it 😍 Really dope!
@@marcg3923 haha yes!
That was hilarious manny getting those random people to help you out for the shot
could be a bit more polite tho..
Great video Manny as always.thank you! Can you compare Canon EOS r with 85 vs Nikon z6 with 85 s and Sony with 85. thanks again!
Worth it for that shot though.
@@jevgenijbalezin agreed
@@nikanj it doesnt cost you to be polite, if someone would shout on you on a street and comand you, would you like it?
The Fact that the pedestrians actually started taking direction orders instead of just moving on had me dead on the floor lol.
IKR was thinking the same!
That's how you know he's the mack. Game recognizes game, Manny!
I come back to watch this video every few months. The pictures are amazing
True but holy that lens is expensive! :D
@@The1Maywather the L series lenses as a whole have price tags non-photographers/videographers simply have to see to believe. Every time I look at the prices and the cursor accidentally hovers over the checkout button I hear the voices of my ancestors shout "No, child!" 😂😂
It is so awesome to see how the mirrorless tech is pushing more creativity now that people aren't bound to a tiny portion AF cluster on the center of the frame, being able to shoot wide open, with precision and in almost every part of the frame without recomposing!!! :) this is sooooooo cool! Beautiful shots Manny!
I'm glad you are working hard to overcome your shyness Manny! Old Manny wouldn't have asked the couple to help with the shot!! Beautiful photos as always man!!!
This guy's composition skills are super impressive. Love your content man
I don't think it matters what camera system you use Manny. You and any other skilled photographer will be able to capture amazing photos with any camera system.
It's great to see that Canon has improved their camera with the latest firmware to keep up with their awesome glass.
True
Not true, unfortunately. These shots would suck if they were taken on something like a T6 because of the horrible low light performance, even with low ISO.
Gear does matter..
We are getting closer and closer to the day when we receive a UA-cam notification: "Manny Ortiz: I'm switching to Canon..." :D
Haha not happening
Maxim Horoshilov Maybe when canon can catch up with the competition
Exactly my thoughts hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa TeamCanon
I shot Canon for 14 years, switched to Sony for over a year with the a7iii and couldn't go back to Canon soon enough as soon as the RP got good eye AF and the price dropped to $999. Sony skin tones and colors are awful compared to Canon and Sony has nothing that comes close to the RF 50 and 85 f/1.2 portrait lenses.
Manny is always fun to have 2 systems!!!
Super dope to see you giving Canon another chance. I'm in the same bolt myself but trying to stay put while waiting for the unicorn A7SIII. I was getting bored with my A7III & almost jumped ship but I started playing around with flash photography & kinda sparked my love for Sony again. Winter & beginning of next year should be an interesting time. Looking forward to more videos with you & the canon gear. Really helps us all in getting a different perspective. Cheers
Just goes to show that there are no bad cameras these days. No matter what you choose, whether it be from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, etc., everything is just so damn good now.
Wanako Plays! Oh, come on. You're talking too much sense. It leaves no room for the endless "Time to switch?!?" commentary.
That sunroof reflection shot is just amazing.
touch and drag is so amazing, i could care less about having no joystick. The touch bar can definitely be replaced tho
you will be glad to know that eye tracking also works on manual focus. So that means you can use focus assist with manual lens to get sharp eye focussed images.
The reflection off the car roof shot was stunning, and so creative.
I completely agree with your thoughts on the improvements. They are enough that I actually bought an EOS R and so I can cover more of the RF lenses. I also agree on your ergonomic points at the end. By the way - your portraits in this image are just amazing. Stunning work, Manny.
Random people yes you're part of the shot too. That one more time was hilarious!😂😂
That was cringey actually
Duuuddde the way you used the sunroof! GENIUS
Am I the unique EOS R owner loving the new Touch Bar? I really love it. Mine is set to change ISO very fast. 1-left-click for ISO100, slide to increase/ decrease value. Very handy.
Yo Manny, you're one of the few UA-cam photographers that actually makes videos of him doing photography and I appreciate that.
Thanks man. Appreciate the comment 🙏
Manny is the maverick on UA-cam because he always reaching, learning, and doing something different...Be thankful we have shooters that are not STUCK with only what they used to do in 1338 BC...
Dude, you are seriously a master. Those photos look so good!
Thanks man
I love my EOS R for nighttime shots, but I have to make do with the 50mm 1.2. Your photos were gorgeous.
Dope. I'm picking this camera up this week! Thanks for the positive review.
I have the L 50mm 1,2 and the sharpness is absolutely epic, just needs more of a learning curb for most people.
Manny your opportunist technique to get fantastic shots is pure genius.
Thanks for reviewing new firmware update from canon, many content creators are not reveiwing it because they dont want to upset their sony user fan base. But you are unbiased. Love from texas.
The photo quality is amazing ❤
Such solid and candid content. Keep up the great work, Manny. I can't wait for the RF 70-200. Hope to see a review from you on it soon!
Manny, you're a badass photographer with an 85mm lens. Well done!!! The EOS R images also look fantastic.
Lens is dope. My homie just let me try out the eye af on his EOS R and it's solid. I shoot a7iii and am used to those features. That lens price tho is insane. Great vid as always.
Because they are the best lenses.
Not sure if you're aware of it, I don't think I've seen it on any of your EOS R videos, but if you look through the viewfinder and use your right thumb to scroll on the lcd screen, the right part of the LCD screen acts as a joystick. Hope that helps!
The EOSR is a little beast bro! Your images look icey af on it too dude 🤞🏼
Thanks bro. Huge fan of your channel
Man, really really good shots. Very creative. And the images and colors are amazing. Great sharp quality.
My eos r has many hot pixels in 30 sec exposure iso 100, also high iso when lifting shadows. It’s extreme!
Great video - thanks, Manny! Great to see you give the EOS R another chance now that it’s had the firmware updates. Your honesty is refreshing. Most gear videos seem like a pitch for the company, rather than an honest opinion. I switched to Sony awhile back, and really doubt I’d ever switch again - but it’s nice to know what the other companies are doing in an unbiased way. Great job!
Ok, so when I yell out "dang...dang...dang" three times out loud to no one in particular, you know you nailed it. Those ones with the orange sign with the reflection of the sunroof. DANG>>>DANG>>>>DANG!!! Manny, I notice your shelf with lenses in the back, I am wondering if you've ever done a studio tour and how you keep your gear arranged. I am looking to figure out a better way to store my gear. Would love to see a vid on that.
Great idea
Really nice photos there. It's good to try out gear. Knowing what various cameras can do first-hand brings options to a photographer's toolset. The little details of equipment, like you were saying, such as if a camera tends to focus on the eye or eyelash is key to getting what's wanted out of a tool.
o hai Scott
@@RonaldLadao haha, hey!
I'm feeling the EOS R and Tamron 35mm 1.4 combo. This video gave me the idea to get into the eye detect on my EOS R. THANKS!
It's great to see that you got the green on her starboard side and the red on her port side.
I just switched from Sony a7riii to the Canon Eos R and I love it! I bought the Canon 85mm 1.4 IS USM with it!
Man, I bought both A7 RIII 7 months ago and EOS 5 months ago. I switched from 5D Mark IV and decided to try both systems: new one from Canon and such a popular one from Sony. I'm really impressed with Sony technology, but I found how much things are better in EOS R: ergonomics, color science, touch articulating screen, menu, weather sealing and etc. Sony are really great cameras, but I get much more pleasant user experience with Canon. I wish it had better dynamic range, 1080 120 FPS and 4K full frame, though now those things aren't crucial for me. So, I decided to sell my Sony and keep going with Canon. Waiting for a new pro mirrorless body and saving money for crazy expensive lenses!
@Maxim Horoshilov Same here, as a portrait shooter I can say the combo Canon 85mm 1.4 IS has way better rendering, smoothness, depth & fun to shoot with than the Sony a7riii + Sony 85mm 1.4 GM! I had the Sony a7riii for almost two years!
@@SretloW I shot with Sony 85mm 1.4 GM and A7 RIII only once, and can say it's pretty damn good, but yeah EOS R and 85 1.4 is really fun to use! I stopped shooting portraits much, so I decided to sell my 85 1.4 and buy 70-200 2.8 III. It's still an outstanding lens for portraits, great chance to discover long focal lengths and it's more suitable for the travel/street content I'm making now. :) I wish I could start investing into RF lenses, but they are so damn expensive, so I decided to wait for a while, shoot with best EF lenses (they are still freaking good as well), wait for a pro mirrorless body, and only then start investing into RF glass. :)
@@maxim.horoshilov For me is a pro body what delivered good photos, fun to work with, good ergonomics and earn money with it! The Eos R is really a good camera, but yes would be better have a dual sd-card and 4k/60 would be fun!
Mike Wolters Hi, do have any experiences on EF 85 1.4 + EOS R combo for video?
We need more Eos R videos from you Manny 🤩😘🥰. Hungry for Eos R 😜.
Man I waiting for this machine this week. I'm supper excited.
I own this camera for a little bit over a month and I love it, for my photo work I still using the Canon big guns but this camera do a really good job in a little portrait session I have few days ago. I heard a lot of negative comments about this camera but no camera is perfect... always to many photographers said, this camera has only one memory card.... back in time when I started my photography career we never have a camera with two slots for a rolls of film.... and I know the technology is getting better but to me the camera still a tool...and we had to learn how to use it...
Canon R has been dope since day one! Travis Harris prove it a year ago. 1 card slot was the only worry. For images absolutely amazing.
Lee Palance I had both the. 5d2 and 6d. They both only had one card reader. I was never nervous about a card failing until they started making cameras with multiple card slots.
@@THSimagery Same here :) Even when I had a 1dmarkII (2 card slots) I did never use the sd card slot as I did not have any sd card haha
Quay told me how hard u worked and I’ve seen some of your videos before but you slayed this photo shoot ❤️
Manny! You’ve inspired me to post filmmaking youtube videos on my channel. I really want to do this style of “follow my photoshoot” video. I think its a really great format.
Nice ideas to shoot portraits! You are good...you turned a gear video to an inspirational video... Thanks!
Fantastic shots, man! You're sooo creative! Congrats! Felicitaciones!
Manny you have come so far! Well done! Get pics! Always helpful!
I loved how you directed the people who happened to walk in the shot 🤣🤣🤣... and they followed instructions right away!
Mannnnnnnnnnn! I I did a portrait session and an event this weekend with the eosr. I brought after the firmware so I don’t know what it was hitting on prior. I shoot with the 15-35 RF L. I am blown away!!!! I also have a 5d mk4. I have owned a Sony a7iii, (sold it to buy the canon like a week ago) and boy AM I Glad I did!!! It pays to think for yourself!!! Hahaha. (It’s so much lust and pressure when watching reviews.)
Really liked the photo where you told the two strangers to walk a little apart. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you
Great video as always :)) it always keeps me entertained so I don't think about my medical problems ❤️thanks
Loved the subtle lighting, that 85 is gold!
The amber sign shots were fire!
Hey, Manny! Your game is getting stronger each day! It's really nice to see.
Manny directing NY street traffic ...to get the sweet DOF shot😆😆🤣🤣 !! Gotta respect the love of the game❤👍🏾👍🏾💯📸
And I'm going to buy a EOS R tomorrow! Thanks Manny
I am new to your channel, but I have seen your videos before and your content is good. I am also a photographer/cinematographer and growing myself. Love the content thank you for sharing. I have the Canon 6D Mark II. I grew up in Jamaica Queens. I live in NC now.
I just bought an EOS R myself. Pretty excited. Switching from Sony.
Good shit man - love the videos that show off the firmware update performance.
I’ve been waiting for this video. Nice job. Always unbiased honest. Any plans on coming to South FL for a workshop?
Video guy comin in clutch with the idea to use that sign for light. Looked so cinematic. And puttin those people in the shot was hilarious. Gotta love that haha excellent video brotha!
since the firmware update I am very happy with my EOS R.
It’s always great to watch your videos and learn 💯
my dream camera right there
Actually this video gives me a lot of inspiration on how to look for light ! Thanks!
This looks so fun
So good dude. Love this lens, crazy good. I’m shooting A7iii but now wanna drop it all for this set up.
So tempted to change from my A73 to EOS R, Canon ergonomics feel so much better.
Dang, you are so knowledgeable, Manny. I'm glad I found your channel!
Say what ever you want Jared. Manny takes insanely good images
I like how he started directing the passers-by :)
That 85 is SIQ. Great shots Manny!
Keep these videos coming bru.. Muy bien Manuel, excelente como siempre.
fantastic video! Just saw this lens at my local camera shop, that lens is MASSIVE. Held it up to my Sony 85 1.8
Great video ! I have been noticing more & more people are going with the Eos R. Just a few months ago everyone was bashing it and going on about how it wasn’t a “Pro” camera.
ShotbyJFord Part of the reason is that in this non-stop world of youtube reviewers and "influencers" it seems like consumer opinion is like a flimsy plastic bag in the wind. I think Manny has true enthusiasm and integrity, however.
Love Canon, still rocking my F1N, 80D, and soon an R perhaps?
Dope shot with them waking by
Excellent video. I like you testing different gears and equipment, not just Sony. Nice! Keep that up!
Remember me I told you to take it easy last time, with version 1.4 it is working very well eye detection. My menu bar is totally shut off. I’m still very new to my EOS R coming from DSLR for over 30 years.
My major complain is when you are using a flash you can’t see when it fire true the EVF !! It must be a way to make that happen?
Otherwise I’m waiting for 2 card slot
And a faster 10 frame.
Wow just Wow !!!!! Wow. these are next level. You can add to that Camranger 2 and overcome the missing second card slot issue!
Manny these shots are great mate
Canon is doing it right wish I had enough money to switch
Oh you mentioned the joystick or lack thereof...try using the touch screen for your autofocus...much faster than a joystick. Just takes some getting used to at first.
Amazing video Manny and great tips
Such creativity! Very inspirirational Manny!
Great use of surrounding and objects ...
Love the 4k, the higher bit-rate makes everything look wayyy better!
Love you work man! Inspiring! Sending love from Norway
Love the 85mm focal length
Sony need to step up on their glass now that Canon coming with the mirrorless lenses
onQ Q hope so too! Need me some 1.2 glass
It's useless. 1.8 or 2 is just fine.
Canon will never be beat! 👊
@@lbcitylacounty4982 They already have been. Sony and Nikon are out in front.
The general opinion is that Sony is killing everyone with their camera bodies, but then again, most people agree that canon is untouched with these new RF lenses
Stunning images man , positively mind blowing , thanks
I just bought the EOS R too, but I think I'm going to pick up the 85 1.4is so I can use it with my Canon and my Sony :)
I hear that. I don't want to upgrade from my Sigma 85 A because then I can't use the 85 on my 1Dx.
Wow, this is the first time I'd ever heard anybody complain about the EOS-R EVF. It's always regarded as class leading, better than the A7III's for sure and slightly better than the A7RIII. Do you mean maybe just the magnification?
A7III EVF: 0.5", 2.30 Million dots
EOS-R EVF: 0.5", 3.69 Million dots
The only area I see a slight edge on the Sonys is the EVF magnification of 0.78 vs 0.76.
The EOS-R has a setting to make the EVF display smaller so it's easier to take in the entire image, so maybe you had that turned on?
Thanks Manny for another great video!
Yeah I know the specs say differently but I find myself struggling to review images on it compared to the A7III where I dont
Nice work Manny! 💯💯
I just recently switched to Sony but sometimes miss my canon. If I get a second camera I may get the eos R. Anyways, great video Manny. You really inspire me alot.
I hope you get to try a Leica someday. The new SL2 is something you should look into.
Really like the photo session
