I had the Sandor tank (mini version) it’s actually really nice. If I get can 12 months use out of it, I’ll be happy. For £11 I have zero complaints.

Candino C4348/2. The best rectangular affordable swiss watch I have ever had. Extremely precise and can fit any wrist. Beautiful piece

HMT Ashwini. It's got great dimensions, mechanical inhouse moevement, cool heritage and looks great for under $100. Yes you have to go second hand market but you can find them in grear condition or refurbished.

I just bought one off eBay it has not come on yet but, I thought all the same things as you it’s mechanical which I like, looks great, and not many people have it…hope it’s nice fingers crossed for when it arrives

I'm not sure if it is sold in any bricks and mortar stores but you can buy them from the Vario website.

Now there's a brand people don't talk about very often! They do make some nice watches though.
Citizen has a tank-like model called the Bianca - does anyone have experience with this watch? Retail price in the US is ~$360 and it's got an EcoDrive movement, mother of pearl dial and sapphire crystal, not bad specs for the money. My wife is thinking about getting one.

Michel Herbelin 17468 is good too.
But i think the best Cartier tank alternative watch is Raymond Weil Tradition 5768: swiss made, steel case, sapphire glass, no date & second hand.

Great video about notable alternatives. Casio caught my eye with their tank alternatives. Recently they released the LTP-B165 model. It was love at first sight and I got one right away and I was not dissapointed at all and it has a big plus: stainless steel case and 18mm lug width. I was saving money for a Cartier tank, but now I fell that I can use those money wiser and enjoy my tiny square Casio for dressy ocasions. I also made a review video about it here:

Those watches are nowhere in the ballpark of a Cartier, even the least expensive Cartier!
