  • A California teen told her parents she was going to her high school football game but actually went to a party. When she returned home, her mother said she "looked like a ghost." Hours later, she seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving her family and friends desperate for answers. Annie Elise from 10 to LIFE delves into the perplexing case of Karlie Gusé, a young girl whose disappearance has captivated the nation and left investigators searching for clues.

    Karlie Gusé, a 16-year-old from Mono County, California, was last seen on October 13, 2018, after attending a party the night before. According to her stepmother, Melissa Gusé, Karlie appeared disoriented and frightened upon returning home. The following morning, Karlie was gone, having left the house on foot with no phone, money, or extra clothing. Despite extensive search efforts by law enforcement and the community, no concrete evidence has been found to determine what happened to Karlie. The case remains unsolved, with theories ranging from abduction to voluntary disappearance.

      I was in my later teens during the end of the, 60s and early70s. !y preference at parties was girly type drinks. However, I went to a friends house and stupidly he had a friend who came over with some mushroom tea. It was the first and LAST time I ever had anything like it. As soon as it hit me I thought everyone around me was evil and saw them that way. I remember I went home and crawled under the covers until morning. It was awful. Listening to what Carlie was saying and how she was acting, it brought back this memory that I had so long tried to put out of my mind. It sounded EXACTLY like me that night. I definitely believe she was on a psychedelic and not meth.

      It costs a lot of money to go to the ER in the U.S., even with insurance. This wouldn't be the first time a teen took a drug and was delusional/hallucinating. It would be totally normal for a parent to assume it would wear off with a night of sleep. Someone on drugs or very drunk might say a lot of things. She really needed professional help at the time she called her step mother to pick her up. She should’ve been heavily monitored until psychotic symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusional thoughts had completely resolved. Why wouldn’t you call 911 the second your daughter even mentions calling 911 if something were to happen. Isn’t that a clear sign something is already happening? If my daughter mentioned having demonic thoughts, strong emotional mood swings, asking not to be alone, restlessness…. Personally I would not be able to sleep.

      @kaylee this is definitely a psychedelic "bad trip" and it wasn't *just* mary jane that they smoked. Large pupils are an indication of using stimulants or psychedelics. No different than a psychotic episode of mania and paranoia. It could have been one of those new analogs that they use nowadays or perhaps that "spice" crap...synthetic mary jane or whatever they call it.
      I have a feeling someone kidnapped her when she was all alone, staring at the stars. A creeper probably asked her if she needed help, she said yes and that was it.

    • @DakotaLily
      @DakotaLily 5 місяців тому +16

      Oof - this makes me so sad - soooo true - yes - dilated pupils is very much a psychedelic response. And yes - Xanax would have stopped the trio and allowed her to sleep it off instead of her running off into the desert. So sad. 😑. It seems unlikely this is from smoking weed. Especially so prolonged. Her panic is eerie. I hate that some are blaming the parents. They stayed with her and clearly thought they were keeping watch over her. She left/escaped. Even just an accidental accidnet with a vehicle is a possibility of she was walking and running erratically down a major highway in the early morning. Sadly I don’t think this girl is going to be found. Also - eerie how people even in right or wrong states of mind- know when the end is coming.

They knew she was safe, never thinking she would walk out the front door. I heard a kind voice from her step mom talking with her on the recording. We never know the danger of a situation until something happens. The step mom was probably exhausted. They were up late dealing with a lot plus have two smaller children. The risk of psychosis and other mental illnesses being brought about early or at all by cannabis use needs to be discussed more. I work in the mental health field and it is incredibly common, especially in teens and easily adults. Once psychosis is brought out with cannabis use, it typically happens with each instance of use. A big risk factor is a history of mental illness in the family.

      Yeah, having witnessed this kind of thing in person when it happened to someone else, I do feel it’s at least common enough that it should be talked about more. Wow, great video. A lot of information. My friend's daughter went missing 2 years to be found missing her head, a few fingers and laying covered up with a blanket behind a mansion. Her boyfriend seemed VERY likely to me to be involved. His baby mama died 2 years after of an overdose and he now has the 2 children, and his current girlfriend just died of an overdose.
    The police said they believe my friend's daughter died of an overdose. At first they said case closed but after a big stink, they said they are going to wait for tips. She was bones when she was discovered. Her name was Chelsea Poorman from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. She died visiting her sister in Vancouver. Global did a story on her, and there are a few UA-cam videos. The boyfriend was never mentioned. So much information is always left out.

    It is possible that she did have a marijuana psychosis! New years day 2015, about 2 am, my son had been out smoking weed all new year's eve. He came home talking crazy and his wife called me scared so I went over about 8 pm. When I got there it was obvious something was dreadfully wrong. He never assaulted her or me but he took her cell phone from her and twisted it in half. At that point I called 911. The police and paramedics came and were so gentle with him. They handcuffed him and took him to the hospital. He was in the mental ward for 1 week. The doctor said the only thing in his system was marijuana and he had so much in his system that it was a marijuana psychosis. They had to give him an anti-psychotic drug to bring his mind back! The doctor said if he never smoked again, his brain would recover. However the next year he smoked it again and he has not recovered! His entire personality is different! Where he was kind and gentle and generous, now he is mean and entitled! And crazy! And they want to legalize marijuana! That is a crime against humanity! Karli's experience sounds just like my son's! A marijuana psychosis!

    from personal experience and being a small girl around 110 lbs and a habitual pot smoker since the age of 16. i also have mental issues, severe generalized anxiety and depression and a few others, once your body is used to THC you usually don’t have any issues, however if you’ve gone weeks without it and you have none leftover in your system, a bong hit is an instant shock to my mental state. i’m had my fair share of delusions and panic attacks triggered from smoking more than my body could handle after a T break. she was probably used to hitting a bong and didn’t consider how long her body has been withdrawing from it. any underlying mental issues could’ve greatly worsened the situation.

      Perhaps if she decided to smoke K9, that synthetic weed.. Now that is a whole new beast compared to real mary jane... I am an experienced user for psychedelics, and I was almost put in the dirt smoking that K9 from a bong.. It will feel like a bad tripp, until it wears off an hour later, and in that hour, your heart rate will be so pronounced that you will see your chest moving with the beats. Based on the descriptions of how she was acting though, and the length of time she was in her mental state... I would deduce that she was on acid.

It was horrendous and I will never ever ever have anything to do with THC again. After talking to my dr and research it wouldn’t been serotonin syndrome due to my anti depressants I was also taking. Dr said I should’ve been taken to ER immediately because it some rare cases it could be fatal. My husband is a long haul trucker and he and I were driving up near where this happened. I remember seeing a big banner with her on it. I then went on a deep dive myself and looked into this! Such a bizarre and sad story. Thx Annie and I enjoyed seeing you on The Dad Challenge!

    The stepmom's statement: "I see all your faces popping up and it makes me want to cry, I love you guys"...stood out to me. She went from distraught mode to being distracted easily with the attention she was getting. A very odd switch in mood. She didn't describe very well how the girl was dressed the last time she saw her, but instead described her as "adorably cute" and having "a cute little nose and a great smile"? And the interview and reaction from the biological mother...wow...the contrast was like day and night.

    Looking at my niece's bedroom and granddaughter's bedroom when that age, you'd be hard pressed to find the floor for all the clothes tossed around. Also, the parents inability to answer Graces questions could be nothing more than lack of vocabulary to articulate body language nuances.... a furtive glance, a sideways look, a vacant stare.... sometimes people "sense" these body language behaviors without having the ability to verbally describe it.

    There was video to this case. It was brief, but I've seen it. The girl was crying and trying to explain herself. The step mother was being condescending and saying stuff like look at you. She was terrified and was desperate. Where's the video footage now? The way step mother was acting, I don't see the girl asking to sleep with her. She wanted help and this lady acted like a mean girl regardless of guilt. Her dad is reading like you would need to in order to say what he said. It should come naturally.

Also, was the blood found by the dogs tested? I find it hard to fathom that DNA wasn’t found on the panties !

    The legalization of marijuana has greatly contributed to the mass marijuana psychosis that we are seeing now. Back in the 60's and 70's the THC content maxed out under 10%. Today, the dispensaries are selling it with 97% THC.

    Marijuana alone causing those symptoms is exceptionally rare. LSD or an adjacent hallucinogen is a much more plausible explanation for her behavior.

      Ive seen alot of people tweak out on weed. Years ago me and my friends were hanging out with this younger chick from school who took 1 hit from the bong and proceeded to start screaming because she saw her own red hoodie she was wearing and thought that it was blood and that someone stabbed her, then she started puking all over the floor

    • @kenhiett5266
      @kenhiett5266 5 місяців тому +1

      @@laughingcow1162 I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm saying what's described in this particular case being caused by Marijuana alone is rare because it is. An acute prolonged reaction to that extent is usually the result of an accidental overdose of an edible. It's clear from her history that she was relatively habituated, and that's why I suspect she consumed something that was adulterated.

    • @tball50187
      @tball50187 11 днів тому

      It is rare, but is going to happen a lot when millions of people are using MJ. If this reaction to MJ was common, states wouldn't have legalized it and it would be classified as a psychedelic.

I agree with you about marijuana induced psychosis and that is what I thought of as I listened to what she was expressing, and going through. As you said, though, that leaves the matter of what happened to cause her to go missing very much up in the air. I hope closure is found for her loved ones. Thank you for this great video!

    My brother has had severe bipolar manic episodes that sound like hers and the first time he ever had one it was triggered by weed, just weed. It wasn't laced with anything and he was a regular MJ user. But one day it just turned. Marijuana is a major trigger with mental illness, which is why I don't think it's as safe as people think it is. I wish it didn't exist altogether. I feel for this girl and this family. Praying they find some answers.

      There's people that can't handle weed and not all weed is the same and the party she was originally at with the weed could have had more than one type of weed or some of it was laced. But it's not likely someone is up all night and sneaks out at 5:30 deliberately leaving the cell phone behind and not even cold enough to take a coat. Sounds like meth, it conquers the heat and cold, and she wanted her next fix so bad that she was making sure nobody could stop her by tracing the phone to some drug lords gangster place. They may have kept they young beauty addicted on purpose, one of the gang lives nearby, and the mind is going to want more drugs not tell the truth about what's really going on.
