- This is the first video where I used two cameras simultaneously. I kind of liked the result. In the end of this video we had a little bit of an "overpour", but nothing a bucket and a shovel can't take care of. It took me about 5 hours to edit this. Let me know in the comments what you think.

What is Sealcoating?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

That has got to be one HOT driveway during summer.
I'm not sure if it's the same product that was used on our driveway, but they applied it in a similar way so, i guess it should be quite similar. But my point is, with time ours grayed out a lot, after a week or so it became almost like concrete.
Now, imagine seal coating it in neon green. That would burn eye balls in summer.
Also, doesn't look porous for when it rains...
It would feel hotter to the touch, however a lighter coloured driveway would actually reflect the heat back up at you, so would in general feel hotter outside in the summer with a lighter driveway. I know this from experience, working on a white stone driveway or next to a white house can be 10x hotter than working in the yard, at the same property.

@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE any certain brand or make you prefer.only reason I ask I run a small sealing business I buffalo ny I see alot a guy's spraying I use a 3 foot squgge and normally cut everything in with a brush first always looking for better ways to provide a good job for the customer.
Love the technique, I’ve been using squeegees forever, now I’m interested in trying the brush, using them is a completely different motion. Not sure If I’m ready lol 😂
All this time I was struggling trying not to walk on the sealer.

It bothered me how much that left corner entering the driveway was rounded off. I was begging someone to add just a little more lol. Everything else was very satisfying to watch though.

Это не битум. Но используется в составе смола, да.
Что-то похожее на подъездах дорожках любят там использовать. Обновляет цвет и закрывает трещины. Но дорожка должна быть ровной.

From what I see the majority of work comes from prepping the work area surface, like concrete.
The cleaner the driveway the better the application will be.

Hello ,can you please tell about the procedure and materials used for this. Do you use any cement or any sort of adhesive for first layer of small stones ? The last topping is done with bitumen or what is that thing?

@@turbocharged962 looks like the same stuff we use to paint the inside of pipes i build and weld at work. If it is, its basically tar thinned out with acetone.

It’s amazing how far that stuff will spread with such a small amount to start with.
They have the hose on adding material as they work, it looks like they water it down too much but they are good at the squeegee
This stuff is different than the stuff you buy at Home Depot

For a tone questioning this, you gotta know most of this products become grey after a week and they dont get as hot as you think as they use the same technique pool sides use to not burn
Wouldn’t it be easier to pull the sealant and walk backwards as to not constantly have boot prints in it?
How is that easier?
@@SEALCOATINGISLIFE umm… I’m no expert, but always walking over the sealant when you don’t have to, just seems… unnecessary?
@@minduniverse4506 you work it back and forth so the sealant gets between all cracks and soaks into the smallest crevasses of the asphalt. The purpose is to prevent water from getting into the porous areas and eroding or freezing causing a more imperfect surface and/or cracks. It’s self leveling so walking on it won’t hurt.
@@calebsmith95 I get it, but you could still work it back and forth without stepping in it couldn’t you? Like I mentioned, I have no idea about sealing a driveway, but my first comment was just one of observation.
@@minduniverse4506 yea I understand. It’s personal preference, If you walk in it while it’s fresh it doesn’t matter. Either way, you are going to have it on you somehow or another. Just nature of the beast.

We just started a division of our contracting business doing sealcoating.
Couple questions if you don't mind.
Do the foot prints go away, or are you backtracking over them with the brush as you work your way back?
We have been spraying and getting great results, using an aluminum edger attachment then doing the infill. Today was the first day we got some on a customer's house.
We tried cleaning with gas on a rag
But where it's heavier it is just smearing it. I feel like if we kept going we could have gotten it off eventually, but it was taking up too much energy.

2: Would it hold up to the thermal expansion somewhere that experiences 95°F high summers and 0°F low winters? Or is it too rigid?

They do this all the time here in Wisconsin. Its just a surface coating for black top/asphalt.

What do you do differently?
The end of the driveway’s edges were rounded off with sealer and it bothered me. lol
As far as I could tell they also left foot prints all over. They were behind the brush the entire time.

But what does the sealant actually do? I wonder what it looks like in 1 year
Over time, with weather hitting the driveway, the asphalt starts to form little holes/cracks in it. When water gets in these holes, it can end up wearing away at the driveway even more. Plants can also grow if the cracks are big enough and widen the cracks further.
When you get a driveway sealed, you’re removing the vegetation growing on the edges of the driveway and filling all the holes/cracks with fresh asphalt. It leaves a flat surface that won’t erode as quickly. Eventually, after a few years. new holes/cracks form and the asphalt fades to a lighter gray as weather wears at it.
What does sealant do?...the question kind of answers itself. It seals the driveway and protects it.

How comes the boots don't leave a mark, I have never seen this in my life...also how comes it's so liquid and can be spread so easy but then it can be shovelled back in the bucket easily like it's thicker than it looks 🤯🤯
Great questions.
1) The boots do leave marks but we remove them as we go in a process called "smoothing". You can better see it here: ua-cam.com/video/sjeOd2XDc38/v-deo.html
2) Our material is water-based. The outside temperature determines the ratio of water to sealer. On a hot day the material will have more water in it because it will evaporate/dry faster when we apply it. By the time the final pass is made, the material will always be thicker than when first applied. Does that make sense?
What I learned from this video is that when I criticized the work of the person who sealcoated my driveway and told him it looked as if though I had done it ... I WAS RIGHT! If only I had paid a little more for a better-quality company.
Hopefully we're changing the way people view this business. There's definitely a right way and a wrong way to do this. Thanks for watching.

I know it takes practice but damn that looks really easy.
It's not that difficult. It just starts drying immediately when it's exposed to the sun and wind.

@@johnnycarter1966 i was thinking more or a concrete color.. i have not seen many black driveways other than asphalt and thats usually the cheaper way of going. Our streets are black and driveways are a lite color.
K.T. specialized colors can be ordered. White is also an option. It will come with a price tag.

Bruh I honestly don't understand how there are so much homeless people, their are so much job opportunities in this world, I just seen this video rn that proves ther are jobs anywhere. At this point I finally accept that people whom are homeless are just lazy. I know if ur a very old man or an injured/handicapped person than that's understandable. Never saw this done professionally but can appreciate the time and effort into developing the skills needed to do a great job. Hello I'm not sure if it was this channel or not that I commented before.
But a great tip for the front of the garage doors, lay down a wide (3-4 inch) strip of painters tape so you don't get that sealant stuff into places you don't want too. Do that bit, then while the sealant is still wet remove the tape. Will also leave a nice crisp line.

Американцы любят чтоб фасад был красивым. А что, за домом им не важно. Лишь бы спереди, дом выглядил замечательно.
И ещё чтоб асфальт сберечь подольше, вот таким вот покрытием, от разрушения, трещин, деформации. Чистить легко, водой полил и всё. И ещё зимой снег, лёд тает быстрее на этом покрытии.
