Lovely..I am having a 45ft wide beam built but I lived on 26ft Narrow boat and went cruising for 10 years or so. I shed a little tear when I sold her. A fabulous little home - with more emphasis on the 'home' than the 'little'. Ingenious use of every inch of space. Clearly some of the comments suggest that not everyone here would survive life on the cut.
I love that more and more people are thinking of inventive ways around the housing crisis. This is incredible! I would love to pick your brains over the setup as this is something I'm seriously considering myself. Such inspiration!
to be fair the sufficiency of both shower and toilet is already nice for a tiny mobile home, i've been watching this kind of tours recently and many of them don't have both
Bear in mind this is a 30ft boat so space is at an absolute premium. I had this type of toilet in a Campervan some years ago and they aren't too bad. For a young couple like this it's not a problem.

Very much enjoyed my narrow boat introduction from you. Crisply shot and immersive to watch. I've never been on a canal boat but would now love to, it looks like just my cup of tea.
This is magical! So very cozy! The canal is such an awesome place to have a boat. I wish we had little waterways like that in the US. We have shallow fast running rivers to do rafting on, and large rivers for barges and motor boats, but nothing like this. I would like to take a trip to this place one day!
I just adore your little home. I am 54 and my husband will turn 60 this year. I have wanted to do something like you have for years and I am so glad you have chosen to be brave and do it now while you are young. Well done!
Delightful! I'd love to experience canal living. A tip, if I may: Don't block that door behind your bed with bicycles. In an emergency, you would need to use that door to get out.
We are on the very cusp of buying our 45ft narrowboat and was looking for ideas to modify the setup. This video is truelly inspiring and makes me want the boat faster! Nice boat
Love it! Having this boat house, it gives you more chances to survive in first days of zombie apocalypse :D But honestly, this house make me feel comfortable and it definitely looks cozy. I'd love to live in it for a week :)
It looks fantastic! I guess it's a little easier for people to handle as well that you've got a 'home' and not just a van. I've not seen many 30ft ones but it looks like enough space to be comfortable.
Every project you take on turns out to be a beautiful success. Can’t wait to see your finished old barn-to-home in Portugal. You both work so hard to create a little paradise. This boat is a fine example❤️👵🏻❤️
What a gorgeous boat. We have a house with the canal 10ft away, and always admire the boats and dream of what the life must be like. You are wonderfully lucky x
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I am happy it brings them joy even though the lay out or decor does not appeal to me...too much clutter. It’s was lovely of them to share their home, thank-you!
Great video guys. We lived on the canals for years but eventually the difficulties of being near where we worked and being frozen in for three winters running, meant we moved into a house ( which was a very tiny stone cottage ) Enjoy your boaters life for as long as you can!! Bless ya
Very nice, warm, cozy and inviting. Well thought out placement of everything. Thank you for inviting....... the whole world to your humble aboat! Thank you.
You've done such a great job on your narrowboat home, and you both explained it all so well in a very nice video. Thank you for taking the time to create the video to share your home with us.
So as someone that's lives on the canal. You've got to pay water licences, insurances and mooring fees, then there is the boat on top! A decent 30ft narrowboat is around £15-£25,000 depending on age and toilet. I have a 55ft narrowboat and my licence is around £580 per year. £200 for insurance. I have a residential mooring which costs about £2,300 a year and I waited 2 years for it. I was paying £4,000 before that in a horrible place. But I love my new place as I have an electric hook up, farm shop, showers and somewhere to get tools, coal and other maintenance bits. Electric depends on how much you use. I spend about 50p a day, it's cheaper than others because I use coal for heating for me. It's about £10 a week in winter. But I also use dry sticks or whatever I can find. Diesel can range from 30p per litre - if I'm crushing it's about 10 litres a day. Less if I'm moored up. Maintenance should be done every week otherwise cost implications can put you out of water. I'm pretty good with it so it's normally around £600 a year for engine etc etc. I have an old boat that needs blackening in the wintertime so that adds. Pumping the toilet is about £80 a year. My boat is 1985 semi refurbished 55ft boat - it cost me £29,000. So cheaper than a house, cheaper than renting but you need the money in the first place. If you don't moor at place allocated for moorings , you can just pick anywhere on the side of the canal - you'll need keep cruising - which I don't recommend because it will cost more in maintenance and you will get stuck and freeze in our beautiful British winters.
Beautiful work on the narrow boat. So cozy and lovely.
