OMG...Y'all pause too much and for dumb reasons..Jesus
I can’t even finish this 🤦🏻♂️
You guys were breaking up the momentum and climax of the song because you were pausing too much.
Kinda of blew moment with to much yakking. Enjoy this talented artist.😊
The least reactors could do is count the bars.
Way toooo many interruptions on this one Asia! 🤨 😡
This is the live performance Billy's gf was in the audience
with the soundtrack over right?
@@2nerC9 not too sure about that because you can hear the fans singing and whistling
@@2nerC9 bingo..they put the studio version on the the live performance
Love this video!
But this is a scripted and directed video.
Notice how small the crowd is and how nobody actually touches Steve's guitar during the solo - that would never happen! Also all the camera angles gives it away.
No she’s playing the piano…
This is a live taped concert performance in the 80s that’s Steve Stephens on guitar, one of the greats and Billy Idol a legend. And it’s a shame that you can’t appreciate the great guitar playing and the energy that they are giving off.
80s bands were so much more entertaining than anything today
You two are doing such injustice to there musicians by your inane comments on there looks, not even listening to their music, duh!!!
I was 11 when MTV started, and they only had a couple of videos that they played in rotation! Billy Idol is from England and sounds even better live! He is still rockin to this day!
I was.15 or 16
April 2023 still touring!
This is a live performance that became an official video...oh help my brain
This is one of the most iconic songs in music history. And yes we would come home after school and Mtv would go on the TV.
You guys are making me crack up so hard and it's my generation I grew up in lmao, Yeah I can't believe how we were back then but we had fun and it was real pure!
Damn right dude!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🎵🎼🎶
Im only 20 but This is probably the best song ever made in my opinion
@@oscarlarsen400 you're right!!! Now go listen to a million more bangers from the past!!! You'll be rockin out forever on it!!! 🎶🎼🎵🥁🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
I too am from the 80s and my children and grandchildren are rocking to the music of the 🎵 70s and 80s it will never die!!! 🌈☝️✝️☝️🌈
Me too! Edward Scissorhands….🤣😂 dying
"How did they get their hair to be like that?"
Two words: Aqua Net XD
The 80s MTV ushered in a whole new era and sound with alternative and punk rock influences
Maybe one day they will just talk and play the music in the background?
they dont knows 1980 london uk punk music scene they were dressed like this in the london streets
Hell, I was just a regular high school kid and I dressed like this, leather, chains, big hair, shaved on the sides. Fun times!
Gel, mousse, and hair spray were big in the '80s. I'm sure EVERYBODY in my high school used tons of it!
This was very much live
Billy got them skills to get the ladies.
Billy idol is what made punk rock…love billy idol
Um no lol. Either way, he had good tunes. It was pop punk, but definitely catchy.
No
Aww, making fun of Steve’s hair. Lol. Either way, that man can shred a guitar. It’s interesting to hear you talk about how different this is from 70s music, because although this is absolutely 80s, Billy actually has his roots in late 70s punk, with the band Generation X.
hmmm )? A nod to Elvis to, check the lip action.
@@Darkelfin1 Yeah. That's something Billy is known for.
This was live performance thats how tallented they was
MTV, back when they actually played music videos.
This was from the punk rock genre of the early 80's that Billy was king of. It was all about the spiked hair, some had mohawks with different colors and that quick beat, a lot of jumping up and down. So long ago - great memories!
No it's not from the punk rock genre, this was New Wave.
@@losova7543 But if you Google him, it talks about him being in punk rock bands even before his own band and it doesn't mention him and New Wave. There were a ton of New Wave groups for sure like Simple Minds, The Human League, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls and more.
@@alexakl6445 I've seen most of the bands in concert back in the 80's but to Billy Idol, he started in Pink bands but when he went solo, his music transitioned to New Wave. I didn't need to Google him, I saw him in concert in California.
We had plenty of music back then too and much better lol
Back in the '80's, my family didn't have cable tv, so I'd watch MTV at a friend's house during our 30-minute lunch break from high school. A bunch of us would pile into a van and race to a friend's home a few miles away and turn on MTV immediately. We'd eat and jam out to the music videos for 20-minutes and then race back to school just in time. This was one of them that premiered during one of our lunch breaks. Had us all fired up! :) Good times...
Did you just say it's "too much music" today for MTV to play videos😒I'm truly perplexed. I'm going to have to bed with that on my mind😗
This was live
Vidal session baby...lol
Billy fronted a hard core punk band in 1976, Generation X. His punk roots bled over into his later stuff like this. Me? love it
billy rented out a club invited people in ,they played for the crowd and recorded it..
"A Lot of the attention was on the performance, this is the eighties now, not two thousand ten, were not worried about your chain and your car, were interested in what you can do on stage", Perfectly said, that's exactly what listeners/fans cared about back then, not the bling or all the fluff, hairdos and costumes were just an image they portrayed not the focus of fans, a band had to play good music and put on a good show/performance as well, but the performance, the look and all that was secondary to the musical talent.
I WAS 30 AND LOVED THE 80S MUSIC. I SAW MUSIC CHANGE FROM THE 50S TO NOW. MUSIC WAS BETTER BEFORE THE LATE 80S
Guys…it’s a live video.
Back in the 80s there was a very very strong hairspray called aqua net. They used hair dryers and sprayed aqua net almost using the entire can. It is no longer around due to it being an environmental hazard. There was also hair gel.
It is still sold in Mexico my mom has a can since she still use it, it.
The can is white with pink letters.
Was I watching this on MTV back in the day? Yes.
Asia want more, more , more.
Aqua net hair spray and we only had 1 music channel, yes we would live for the newest videos,it is a concert
Wonderful guitar back-up by Steve Stevens (no relation, sadly).
This is the official music video but it was recorded at a real live event.
thats hair gel , we use to wear that back in the day ,
This two didn't even appreciate this masterpiece kick ass song
I grew up on his music!
M TV catapulted Billy Idol's career!!
8:09 Notice how fast she transitioned from 'Controlling CEO' to 'melted butter,' when Billy sang about, 'giving/ working to give all to the woman'.
Excellent observation, my man. I fail to see how she thought anything is humorous in this video...but, then again....................
I didn't enjoy her perspective very much on this. Felt flippant and lacking depth.
While watching this video on another UA-cam, the lady playing the keyboard commented on the post.
A pause every 4 seconds, ruined it.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You said "Edward Scissorhands"...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And the black leather too! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just noticed it when you said it...and after all these years and I'm fucking dying! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh...and yes... the 60s sounded different than the 50s, 70s different sound than the 60s, 80s different sound than the 70s... thats why us Gen Xers don't like modern music
...what comes out today could have easily been 20 years ago... and visa versa... music over the last 25 yrs hasn't really evolved.
Some of the review just feels ignorant about rock music and the 1980s in general. Billy's aesthetic is heavily inspired by his punk rock roots. The song bangs as hard as any rock song ever has, full stop. I wish you'd spend 20% on the aesthetic and 80% on the sound. You don't seem to be approaching the music with an open mind and that's what I look for in reaction channels. Lost in vegas are the legends.
He was basically able to take punk global...he came from a punk group called Generation x....and he's British...yes MTV was really like that...I know I ditched school and got high and drink watching MTV... madness,Devo, depress mode, and move it was basically rock, metal, and new wave (British music) ...yo MTV raps change that... that's another topic on how it happened... sometimes I wish it's like yo MTV raps and a 24 he music video Chanel...but times have changed
I had the biggest crush on that man! That little lip curl...*swoon*
This song gets the blood pumping for sure. I have to set my cruise control if it comes on while I'm driving :)
Hair gel and Aqua Net and not a hair would move!
Oh hell yeah. Back when MTV was all music videos and interview shows with musicians and live concerts yeah you came home and the first thing you turned on was MTV in the 80's
From memory the spikes were mainly gel and hours of patience twisting as small a number of hairs together in each spike.
yes we had mtv and it was much better then it is now
That's GEL not Vaseline.
Personally, I'm surprised Billy still has hair; what with the total amount he put in his hair over the years.
The hair trick...Hand soap! Hair gel and spray gets you so long...but a block of hand soap will get your hair stand like a porcupine :-) Punkers in the late 70 used hand soap for thier mohawk hair. Yeah MTV was king at that time 🙂
🍺 🍻 was great if you didn't have gel at home!!
This was punk rock era!
Billy idol got to be a lover and catch my fall
The scary part is this was 40 years ago, I remember watching it when it came out. Billy is the modern day Elvis!!
billy idol destroy in the world , he is a great star, hes hair are imiteted in 4 corners off earth, the show and musics are deep and unique, please u need more about him , great artist
If you were a guy in your late teens or early 20s when Billy Idol was really going strong it was great! You didn't have to dance to disco if you didn't want to and the ladies really loved cutting loose to his tunes. The dance floor would go absolutely bonkers, with sweat flying everywhere and the air saturated with pheromones... primal.
His hair is EXACTLY THE SAME today 😝 haha
In the 1980s MTV was legit. Steve Stevens is still a killer guitarist.
All that talking and nothing about the awesome song
💯 watching it on MTV!!😂😂🤘🏻❤️
I am from the 80s and we wore lots of moose/hair glue/hairspray to spike it!!!! Also the guitar player Steve Stevens world renowned had the mullet type haircut!!!! 🌈☝️✝️☝️🌈
OMG, enough with the freaking hair!
Why nobody react to classic epic video like Speed, only Rebel Yell... i guess because of the copyright of the movie scenes...
Yep, a lot of Final Net back then. Fun times. Steve Stevens, great player. This is the studio recording. Try the live.
Need the live version of, Shakin' All Over. He kicks ass.
I remembee mtv being on late Sat night and all through to the morning . You would come home from a night out with friends have your munchies and lay on the lounges sleeping or just watching Mtv lol
As a Southerner I always found the title of this song, "Rebel Yell" a bit funny because it has nothing to do with THE Rebel Yell of the Southerners. But I still love Billy Idol. His music and style are timeless.
Could it be that there have been rebel yells a bit before 1860`s . Remember Billy is from a country that actually have a bit of a history 😂
It has to do with Rebel Yell whiskey - "with a Rebel Yell she cried more, more, more", and the idea came from an encounter with the Rolling Stones.
Same hair cut as Nikki Sixx: ua-cam.com/video/tIC4RXAbngM/v-deo.html
But everyone had more or less that hair in the 80's.
Remember the Nelson brothers?
Bruh... You've killed the vibe at least thrice in the 1st five minutes
The worst stereotype ever
Billy was speaking Freakanese here... lol
Fun Fact- The role of the T-1000 in Terminator 2 was written specifically for Billy Idol but he couldn't take the role after being hurt in a motorcycle accident.
You guys are confused.
YES MTV……
Real life glitzy😂
Billy idol is one of the kings of the eighties ... Idol/Stevens were a great team
ARE YOU REALLY TALKING ABOUT THE HAIR-SPRAY? IN FRONT OF A LEGENDARY GROUP? you shouldn't react to anything sorry........
....Steve Stevens, guitar, Thommy Price, drums, and on the keyboards, CYNDI LAUPER!😆
MTV in the USA and Much Music in Canada in the '80s. I remember Much Music very very well lol. And yes Asia it was exactly like you said, come home from school and plant myself in front of the TV for the 4 'o clock Pepsi Power Hour lol
I was a little kid watching this on MTV. About 8 when this came out. My parents would go out on Friday night and I was old enough to take care of myself so I got to watch HBO, Showtime and all the other channels. This was like 8 at the time in 1983.
Yes, it was just like that. MTV kept coming out with new videos and our music rocked hard! I loved Billy Idol - so hot! And all our hair was big and it stayed. We used gel, teasing your hair and hairspray. Such a good time! Rock, pop, punk - all of it as great!
I was a punk/goth back then and we used sugar water and spray/gels. It took a couple of hours work to get it to look right! lol
I habd bleached white [I'm blond anyway] flattops and a black mohican.
Great days, miss them loads. Now I'm 62 today and it's not the same [music] anymore [in a negative way].
MTV & later VH1, back in the day, showed music videos all day long. Not like today. Yes, if we were home, we'd be watching. You could say that MTV created the music video explosion. Saw Billy in concert around 1987. Great concert.
MTV…was no VH1..no BET…. only MTV and ONLY VIDEOS until they ruined it. Then MTV 2 came to play JUST video’s again and AGAIN THEY FUCK’n ruined it lol
The secret to spiked hair like that was unflavored/undyed gelatin. Another way was glue. Elmer's would work until you started sweating. Super-glue for the haardcore. Vaseline? Not if you want to make it stand up.
MTV at one time actually played music videos.
My mums boyfriend was a punk back in the day. He used egg white and sugar to keep his hair stood up lol
Great song who ever actually wrote and played it. Who's this adolescent lip syncher there (snicker). What 5'8" tops, 140 lbs. Brrrrrrrrrr got me shakin' in my boots and that faux sneer, so over done.
Just came across this. I love Billy Idol and this song. I grew up listening to him. HAIR really? Yes it was different of course but we don't need to dwell on it. Maybe discuss this after the video. I'll continue to listen, but from the other comments, I may not get to the end.
Billy Idol is the king of punk rock and love how he made an appearance in Wedding Singer starring Adam Sandler.
It's not punk rock, it's New Wave.
I appreciate that they try to understand the culture back in the day. Its easier to relate to the 60's-70's. 80's was the age of materialism vs anti establishment and finding a place in between.
Love the hair and out fits. Love it
Been watching you guys for a while and enjoying your content, and I'm so sorry to say that NOW I realized how much BJ looks like DMX, R.I.P., please react to Slipknot.
Till this day nobody matches the showmanship and talent of Billi Idol and Steven Stevens! More, More, More!
You should make a reaction to the same theme but interpreted by Daria Zaritskaya vocalist of NOAPOLOGY. Greetings from Argentina.
MTV and VH1 quickly went down the crapper with talk & game shows...a different broadcast called Night Tracks dominated the weekends back in the day
I think I recall they sometimes used egg whites for the hair..but probably mostly hair gel/spray/mousse.
Never seen you two so confused. 1. They are performing to the original recording on the album. 2. Yes....went home and watched this video on MTV. 3. Not vascaline - gel and hair spray...lots.
How did they get their hair to stay up like that? Let's just say on the side of the stage there was a sign that read: DANGER!! NO OPEN FLAMES ON STAGE!! AQUANET IN USE
