- Welcome back fellow wielders! In today's Kingdom Chatter episode we discuss why we think Aqua actually is not a vessel of Xehanort as we are lead to believe. Do you think this Kupo theory holds true? Let us know below!
We must save our girl from not only her own darkness, but that of the Seekers.

I really doubt Aqua is Norted. Here are a few reasons :
-The way she appears in the trailer, I've never seen any of the Xehanorts manifesting like that (completely enveloped in darkness).
-The only character who got the silver hair after being norted was Terra and it was because he was possessed by Xehanort's full heart. And when that happened he got silver hair, yellow eyes, pointy ears, darker skin and a different voice. In the trailer Aqua doesn't have the pointy ears or a different voice.
-Her clothes are black, I've never seen anyone getting dark clothes after being norted not even Terranort. Which could be a hint for darkness corruption (even for the skin color).
-I don't think the yellow eyes is only a sign of being tied to Xehanort, just a sign of having ties to the darkness in general the best examples being Diz, Vanitas (a being of pure darkness) or even the Heartless (all heartless have yellow eyes because they're creatures of the dark). I've played lots japanese games and the yellow eyes has always been a sign of a person who has ties to the darkness.
-It has already been established that darkness corrupts those who are overexposed to it like Diz or Xehanort who started to be corrupted by it when he decided to travel between worlds with his armor off.
-If she was really norted why would she still be chilling in the RoD waiting for Mickey instead of using a corridor of darkness to get Ven before Sora?
-The way she says "You're too late" is said in such a hatefull tone hits that she kept her mind, if it was Xehanort he would have said it in a mocking tone.
-Nomura's response : He talks about it like if it wasn't a very big deal (or he really doesn't care about characters), he talks about like if it was obvious that she'd fall to the darkness.
-A lot of trailers are made to be very misleading nowadays, remember Star Wars TLJ trailer when they teased Ray going to the dark side? When the movie came out it clearly wasn't the case.
I think the 13 are 1)M. Xehanort, 2)Y. Xehanort, 3)Xemnas, 4)Ansem, 5)Xigbar, 6)Saix, 7)Vanitas, 8)Marluxia, 9)Larxene, 10)Luxord, 11)Demyx (no reason he shouldn't be there if they brought the 3 previous back), 12)Terranort, 13)??? I think this one will be decided later in the game because Young Xehanort sates that "there's a darkness they're missing".
That being said, it's difficult to make conclusions over a few seconds clip taken out of context. But we'll have the answer in a few months.
They used dark portals to come and go. Aqua was physically engulfed in darkness. It gave off more of an aura of darkness than a portal of darkness.
There's a difference.
You're getting all over Aquanort doubters, but Aquanort supporters are so stuck on the notion that she _has_ been corrupted by Xehanort that they refuse to accept any possible alternatives, too.
Dusty Dust They appear with corridors of darkness or pop up immediately they don't stay clouded by darkness like she does in the trailer.
Also, calling me names doesn't make your argument more valid.
Livix37 um look at Riku when he fell to darkness it's obvious she got norted
Unless I see Aqua use darkness to change her attire, like Riku did in KH1 -- I will not believe she is _fully_ "norted". Also, even despite Riku caving into Darkness in said game, he is no longer a vessel of Darkness.
Plus, Nomura said Aqua can still be saved while giving NO indication as to Terra, or even Ventus. So that could either be to play up the game's ending by being as vague as possible - or, if you want to be _real_ dark about the storyline, it could mean Aqua's situation is far less dire than Terra's and, as a result, is reversible. Terra's and Ven's are, too, but through more complex means.
Xehanort had all those features back in the destiny islands plus look at Terra he got norted and had those features within seconds she got norted like idk why people think otherwise
Nomura is very vague about people falling into darkness. In the recap video which Nomura himself writes, he states how riku has"fallen into the darkness" when Riku was possessed by Ansem. When Nomura says "fallen into darkness" he doesn't explain how.
I'm so happy to hear someone else argue that Aqua is corrupted and not a vessel. I'm hoping it's the case; however ... Aquanort would be the ultimate twist, and I think Aquanort would be the perfect way to explain how Way to Dawn breaks
Nomura in Famitsu 2018 interview: "In the darkness, Aqua shoot at Riku and King Mickey, the golden eyes prove that she is under the influence of Master Xehanort. She called Mickey's name, but her voice was so cold. We couldn't feel any trace of her former self."
Tony F we read it today too! Looks like our girl is truly a Nort. It's up to us then to get her back! Theory officially debuncked
This is a quality insight video, concise but also goes in deeper, using great ambient kh bgm, beautiful background & props. Keep up the good work :)
Oh my god! That makes so much sense! This has completely lifted my spirits towards Aqua's fate, awesome video!

Just discovered your channel today looking at reaction videos, and I gotta say: I really like your content! Love KH and I can't wait to for this game to come out!! Looking forward to your next vid, subbed!
Homie, thank you so much!!!! We have plenty of stuff coming! Hope you dig whats on the horizon, we got a bunch of KH goodness coming :D
I refuse to believe she's been norted.
Yeah same
xehanort had yellow eyes and grey hair before his travels. he was most likely born with them. they have nothing to do with darkness. aqua most likely just lost her mind and -somehow- ran into a xehanort vessel. ....... did ansem the wise do something to her?
or you know, it's just an illusion and nomura is sparking artificial drama.
Dreq the Dreck you realise that he said he was shocked at our reaction.
Dreq the Dreck remember guys Aqua has been away for like 12 years
Gracekim1 yes, but something about the reveal seemed forced; artificial. I felt almost nothing. frozen made me feel even less, but that's a different story.
Dreq the Dreck honestly I feel like it was supposed to happen because of when she had to defeat Terra who was norted by Xahanhort. And after that fight he said that basically he had this all planned from the start considering she's a true Master Keywielder. He wanted her to jump into the darkness to save Terra because he kmew Aqua will do anything to save her friends even if it meant she could not save herself. But that's just what I gather from the games and videos I've been watching.
Larxene didn't have any voice change, and she's also Norted.
Aqua in my opinion she is not norted because not trying to disrespect my lover but what would be the point of her character. she said *if some else wonders in the relam of darkness she will be their* also she say she is light of the realm of darkness so that's why I think my angel aka the light of my life is not norted.
I will agree with half of that and she was not norted she was having problems with the darkness.
There's definitely more than what it seems. It was too simple, too easy.
Y'know, it never came to my mind when I saw the trailer that Aqua got norted only that her being in there caused it, and it was only after someone else said it that I thought of it. And when Riku was possessed by the darkness his eyes stayed the same, so perhaps those possessing the soul of a true user of darkness, or are a true user of darkness themselves, have yellow eyes, so then does that mean Xehanort stayed in the realm of darkness to get his power over darkness? And if so, then will one only get true control over the darkness by slowly getting infused by it? Instead of gaining it really quickly?
Amball2000 xehanort had yellow eyes before his travels. it's safe to assume he was born with them. yellow eyes and grey hair aren't traits of darkness.
Funny you said that, cause I thought of him having yellow eyes after putting my comment up. And I never said anything about grey hair, because if I thought that it was from the darkness, then Aqua would have it too, her's still looks blue, maybe a bit lighter, but still blue.
Amball2000 it's still blue? I swear, sometimes I can't tell whether it's a graphical hiccup or just me.
It's still blue, I've triple checked, it's still lighter though. And why would they have it change from the darkness, Saix's didn't change when he took Xehanort's heart so why should hers, unless if it's cause it is different from his, like what was talked about in the video.
Amball2000 the interviewer wrote it as if darkness caused it, but I don't believe that at all. my money's on *mistranslation.* that is unless nomura asspulls: "xehanort visited the RoD earlier in his childhood."
Kupo Key Gamer i was think she did not turn into Norted i think she was having problems with the darkness
She was having problems with the darkness she is not Norted
It makes sense i mean if sora was the one who had the master defender what could she used to fight
Aqua is a Xehanort. Besides the basic evidence, the crucial one is this: Vanitas.
Darkness resides in every heart. Her being in the REALM of the stuff...hmm...
I was expecting a Frozen world long before it was confirmed than Aqua giving in to darkness
so theres a possibility that Aqua is capable of spawning the twilight keyblade
Alessio Tozzo who said that
What is this music?? Love it!
The music is "Case of Foretellers" or "Foretellers Case" from Back Cover both will get you to it homie :)
It's worth noting that Ansem the Wise had gold eyes and used the darkness as well. And since the most recent appearance of her (chronologically) was meeting him, that makes sense.
Ansem had amber eyes, not gold
Aqua's eyes aren't the same shade of gold that the other Xehaborts have, either.
They are though
Plus the events in fragmentary passage supports this theory, because of the phantom Aqua, and aqua even shares this when she meets Mickey in the relm of darkness, she says "Mickey, the darkness has found the cracks in my heart, I don't know how much longer I can last." So she has survived for 10 years but something must have happened between kingdom hearts 1 to Kingdom Hearts 3, I suspect it has something to do with castle oblivion and the takeover from the organization
i never believed she got norted either i mean why would nomura say'fell to darkness' / excluded mentioned xehanort........ also what mickey said at that point sounded pretty harsh poor girl has been lost for so long and all he says is 'oh............but you'll be okay' pfft thanks mickey
i think this aqua could be an illusion made by the realm of darkness to mess with mickey and riku
The sqaure enix rep also said this
“Does not look too good for Aqua right now. She's been in the dark world since BBS, and uh yeah, we kinda saw hints of that Xehanort possession in her eyes, yeah I've heard on the internet Aqua got Norted is a meme"- Brendan Docherty
I saw this interview and it had me thinking long and hard about this. He also followed that up with "hopefully we'll have to learn a bit more about that"... Like. What's Square getting at? Was it a slip up or something possibly? Nomura apparently has said some more interesting things on this too recently in regards to her being corrupted so idk, guess we'll have to wait and see lol Great insight homie!
In the Birth By Sleep Ultimania Nomura talked about yellow eyes and he confirmed that Xehanort possession is the only thing that can cause the change in eyes, hair ect. So it's pretty safe to say as far as we know Aqua 100 percent a Xehanort.
- Comparing the Organisation members when they were human to when they were in the Organisation, apart from Xehanort, only Isa and Braig have differently-shaped ears and differently-coloured eyes - why is this?
Nomura: It's a question of whether or not they're deeply connected to Xehanort. In Braig's case, comparing the scene where he's injured in his battle with Terra and flares up at Xehanort, his appearance afterwards changes, which hints that something happened with Xehanort in between.

Beyond Animation Nop not only xehanort can change eyes and skin just look the case of DiZ have yellow eyes and the skin is darker for using the darkness he is not norted and the case of sora when transforms in the drive anti-form in KH2 he have yellow eyes and looks like aqua and he too is not norted so what u said is not truth and i think aqua is just using the power of the darkness like sora and diz to survive in the realm
DiZ has orange eyes, lmao.
Nomura confirmed yellow eyes is Xehanorth only. I just posted the interview
it's only a quincidence that hartless have yellow eyes, hench sora's "anti form" is the shape of a hartless and it's just gameplay not a canon part of the story.
Sora has never used darkness.
Riku and Terra both have and their eyes never went yellow. Do some research.
As for DiZ's skin color it was a product of his disguise.
Plus her skin ( before anyone reads my comment plz do take this as an offence i'm just saying something about her skin colour that is Xehanort related thank you) isn't turning brown, her skin is turning pale.
to answer ur theories we must dive into other theories, I believe we should know who is controlling xehanort,, he is a vessel for something else, never the less I also believe the kindness and pureness of Sora isn't normal, we have seen that he is the 1 stretching and mending the wounds of the worlds and people but yet not a keyblade master , never the less the lingering will, is only triggered to fight against xehonort and dark vessels but yet it decided to attack Sora, which I believe Sora is directly connected to xehonort and he is the sheep to be sacrificed for everyone's safe return,, never the less I'm sure kh3 will bring the scene where 1 famous character will die 2 save all but the question is who
She has been having her own dark problems as her own darkness
We also don’t know if Xehanort has white hair & yellow/gold eyes because of his connection to the Darkness or not. 🤷♀️
Nomura confirmed that Xehnorth has had yellow eyes and white hair before darkness
Look at Young Xhenorth in the KH 3 trailer
OMG I am so glad someone else thinks this!
Saints_Ghost there's an option to save her in the game, the realm of darkness did this, not xehanort..
There's no confirmation. Of all the news that c ame out of e3, that isn't one. lol
Beyond Animation "Nomura talks about aqua getting saved" look it up
Its clear that Nomura has already written the story, but it still working on visual details as the story goes along, hence why this game doesn't make sense...
In my opinion, Aqua has only been corrupted by darkness, not taken by Xehanort. In the series they often repeat that there are some "dresses" that serve as a shield against darkness, like the armor of the trio in BBS, the black coat of Organization XIII, the new outfits of Riku and Mickey as seen in the finale of 2.8...Aqua's armor is in the realm of light, she had no protection against darkness, and as a matter of fact in 2.8 we can see how she was starting to get weakened by the darkness. Don't know, just my theory!
Her ears and voice give it away😅 now I’m REALLY glad I had that conversation on the amino last Saturday
How did that conversation go? Lol, you were wrong.
I'm calling it now: this is just an obstacle for Riku to get his new keyblade. Gameplay wise, it would be boring to go to the Realm of Darkness, get Aqua, and get out. Plus, it's awfully convenient that Mickey is bound while Riku is free in what I assume to be after the scene with the broken Way to Dawn (if that took place after, they sure don't seem to broken up about failing to save her). If you ask me, Riku is going to somehow awaken Braveheart, beat Aqua, dive into her heart, and expel the darkness within it.
I think she’s definitely dealing with her own darkness. First of all, if Xehanort wanted to take over Aqua, he would have done it or tried much sooner, she’s not wearing an organization coat like all the other members, her hair is still blue (though a very faded) and she was first seen sorrounded by darkness and then emerging as dark Aqua, which is not how any of the other Xehanort’s work. I’m wondering where this will go though. Will she ever be like she was again, will we ever see her beautiful blue/purple eyes again? Will she be qualified to be a guardian of light and find Ven? So many questions!!!
Gamelover254 Yes!!! Your right finally someone gets it.
Gamelover254 maybe its different, from what your saying....
Side note: black coats does not mean your a member of organization 13. It means that person is traveling through the realm of darkness. The coat protects one from darkness.
Aqua is not norted she is just having her own dark problems in her and turning into a darkling
shes clearly norted its common sense plus a square rep at e3 during a gamespot interview stated she was
The realm of darkness did this to her, not xehanort... Didn't you guys here about the option to save her look it up.
Didn't you hear about Nomura saying she's under the influence of Xehanort? Look it up.
And when was it ever said that being possessed by Xehanort automatically makes a person beyond hope of salvation? To my knowledge, the two have never been stated to be mutually exclusive.
Steven Higgins I didn't know that, however before I came here,I accepted that she was under the influenced by xehanort, so few only 2 people played the game...that has talk to Nomura.Nah only just 1 of them
She was having problems with the darkness she is not norted.
Its Been Confirmed She's Norted
Dude wouldn't just being norted means you fell to darkness like honestly it's obvious she got norted
sigster A Right? I mean, how did Xehanort possess Terra? By making him fall to darkness. How did he try to possess Sora? The same way. Most of the Seekers are Nobodies/former Nobodies, how does a person become a Nobody? By falling to darkenesss. What is Vanitas? Pure darkness.
Steven Higgins yup
Aqua got Norted bro.
Must you wave your hand at every word? It's really annoying...
Agreed, he can't just fluidly speak, he has to wave his hand before he starts the next word, it's ridiculous.
And the corrupted aqua
It was both for me the frozen world
