Here's Why Aqua ISN'T "Norted" | KH3 Theory

I'm definitely not a KH expert so Maybe I'm off but I just sort of assumed that this version of Aqua is just the result of being forced to wander the realm of darkness so long that she lost hope. In theory, the main reason she passed the Mark of Mastery exam was because no darkness arose from her during it, where it was spurred to do so in Terra. What if her being in the realm of darkness for so long made her inert darkness stronger? In the trailer she says "Mickey, you're too late." but there's yet to be any clarification on what exactly he's too late for. Is he too late to DO something or is he too late to PREVENT something from happening? 0.2 and 3DS added a sense of urgency to getting her out of the realm of darkness like being there for too long would cause something bad to happen to her. What if that is exactly what happened? What if the golden eyes are just an indicator of unrestrained darkness?

1 Year in the realm of darkness = 1 hour/day in the realm of darkness.
People missed the few clip on Bh6 Tgs trailer, where Ansem and his guardian grabs Aqua. And she's far from being hopeless, remember that 0.2's ending is blank points, where Ansem the Wise and Aqua met, talking about Sora. And it's actually a short time to despair, KH2 - KH3 is just a year away, a 1 hour/day enough for Aqua to be attacked by Ansem and his Guardian, enough time to succumb, and I'm not saying that's how she got norted, it's the realm of darkness so the dark powers are boosted by 75% (I think) and she's probably packed or maybe Ansem forcibly fed her so many darkness, long enough to linger in her body and short time enough for her and Sora to meet. Also, Aqua was saved by Ansem the wise, he can use the door to darkness and easily travel to the realm of light.

Also after that, Aqua quickly headed to Castle Oblivion and restore it to LoD, but Vanitas was tracking her, and again, a short clip from Tgs bh6 trailer, where Vanitas is about to stab Aqua. That scene could be another reason what happened to her, also there's something more than that, and that is: Vanitas threw her into the realm of darkness once again, and now she starts to despair which means, she's about to fall off and give in.
Oh well, those were my two theories for my favorite character all the time. I've been overthinking this all along and I hope I could help people who still keep on questioning, I also hope that I was, 25% right.

That's genius I never thought of Aqua having her darkness extracted from her heart. Similar to how Master Xehanort extracted darkness from Ventus's heart known as Vanitas. The same rules could apply to Aqua. I had my own theory a year ago that Aqua had a Nobody due to losing her heart.

Xehanort's name is an anagram for Another X. This could mean a whole ton of things.
It could mean another X as in another fight, hinting at his purpose being to cause another Keyblade war.
It could hint at his desire to recreate the X-blade. To create Another X.
It could hint that he is the next in a line of possessions by Luxu, another vessel to continue watching events in the world. Which is also why the Recusant Sigil, which is used to keep track of those who are marked with it, is an X.
It could mean that the X itself is more significant than we knew, even outside of the X-blade, the Sigil, and Xemnas remembering his previous obsession with the X-blade vaguely and putting it in every Organization XIII member's name.
A whole ton of things could be implied by this name.
If Xehanort is indeed Luxu, then being "norted" would be becoming another X as well, but it would also mean that being Norted might not actually have anything to do with causing the upcoming war - it could be Luxu spreading as many possessions out as he can, so that he can have as many chances as possible to view the upcoming war and its aftermath from a multitude of different angles. Him creating the 13 Darknesses doesn't mean he's restricted to only those bodies. Any of the ones he doesn't involve in the war could be intended to be observers afterward and nothing more.
Maybe the reason he didn't attempt to control Aqua sooner and make her one of the 13 Darknesses was because he didn't need her to be a part of the war, but wanted her to remain in the Realm of Darkness so she could see what happened as a result of the war from there. After all, achieving the balance between light and dark would require having insider knowledge on the current state of both. Not having an observer on the inside of the Realm of Darkness at all times would make creating and observing the balance of the two much more difficult, if that is indeed what he intends to happen.

Considering everything we have seen, shes definitly been corrupted by darkness.
Plus, her fight with Ansem SoD seems more, at the wrong place at the wrong time sort of thing.
And her battle quotes makes it clear she isnt a nort. They are to emotionally personal.

Totally agree. In BBS Vanitas mentions keeping Aqua around as a backup plan and I think that the scene where he holds the keyblade over her is him extracting the darkness from her heart. I mean she's been in the realm of darkness for over 10 years and had a hard time fighting it. So it's 100% possible he extracted that. When Xehanort did that to Ventus initially, it damaged his heart and he was going to leave him on Destiny Islands in the coma until Sora helped repair his heart. So I think Aqua will be in the same state until Sora can defeat the dark Aqua and repair her heart as well.

Like I've personally been reviewing the story and replaying the games as a refresher and this theory hit me when I played BBS. I just assumed that its a more physical realization of Zodiac Aqua. Ansem or Terranort may have captured the real Aqua so she could serve as one of the lights, because Xehanort's whole plan rests on there being seven lights and if he just jumps around snatching up all the potential lights as darknesses he's just going to end up at the Keyblade Graveyard like
"WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYBODY?!"
People do seem to forget that while this is a war, Xehanort still has to wait for the Guardians of Light to assemble. Otherwise he's just picking on the Princesses of Heart who have been shown to have the power to purify darkness before (with Kairi and Sora's Heartless), which would probably be a major problem for his whole "Thirteen Darknesses" thing.
Also, Aqua doesn't have a piece on the dark side of the chess board like Terra does, so she can't be a darkness.

She's becoming a Darkling
Which is what happens when a keyblade user in kingdom hearts union x falls to darkness and has enough corruption.
Note the red claws/fingers, blue black skin and tattered clothing, if her X straps had turned red it would be more obvious but yeah..
I still think she could have been turned into a "Nort" it's just worse for her, that said it would be nice if the regular Aqua could be saved.

I believe aqua is in a position of being norted and affected by darkness. it could very well be a case that the fight with ansem renders her unconscious with darkness spreading through her, vanitas using her body to wake ventus and her being norted after the fact with darkness having a severe effect on her body.
the white/white-ish hair could be that she is more % xehanort at the time. we know from Terra that a almost complete vessel Dawns the silver hair and yellow eyes (almost because he still fights back while possessed) . what people don't talk about often is how he has a different personality than either of the parties. it's odd that Terra-xehanort starts spouting nonsense about darkness in a manner foreign to xehanort's previous point of view and that moves on into Ansem's personality. Aqua be the same, her personality is different because she's in a state of transition. Aqua being like vanitas is interesting, but I find her skin turning colors BECAUSE it's like the suit odd. Her demonstrating the dangerous nature of darkness would be a good way to bring up something that's mentioned but never shown. and I think her mood is her darkness and xehanort's will mixing in a way similar to Terra-xehanort as opposed to vanitas. Vanitas was cold and brutal but Aqua seems cold and more "share my agony". Not to mention Vanitas and ventus don't look alike even before the sora shenanigans (vanitas is bulkier whether that be because of only wanting one body model or because they actually have different physiology is a different matter). If vanitas wasn't also xehanort's underling it would be easier to separate his eye color from xehanort's, because no one can say that vanitas isn't a vessel at any given point during the the "present" of Birth by sleep with 100% certainty

I'm 100% convinced that she's just corrupted for many reasons: 1) her appearence, she has yellow eyes, but she is completely different form every single Xehanort we've seen so far in the series: Terranort, a fully possessed Terra, has only yellow eyes, pointed years, white hair and a different voice, the other seekers only have yellow eyes and pointed ears, while Aqua has yellow eyes, pale blue hair, dark and broken clothes, legs and arms covered by darkness and red fingers. 2) her voice is darker and colder than her original voice, the same as the phantom, and the phantom was simply a rapresentation of Aqua's doubt and fears, while the other seekers have the same extact voice as before, exept Terranort, that is fully possessed, but his voice is completely different to the one of Terra and Xehanort. 3) in the Frozen trailer she said "you're too late" to Mickey and she's clearly pissed, in the BH6 trailer she said "my heart is full of misery and despair" and in one of the commercials we saw a furious Aqua chasing Riku, what do i want to say? Rage, misery and despair are bad emotions/feelings and darkness has the ability to increase bad emotions and feelings, while a Xehanort possession makes you act and think like Xehanort, infact none of the seekers of darkness behave like Aqua, they aren't pissed towards the guardian and they aren't soffering. 4) we saw in the final battle trailer, Aqua literally falling to the darkness, that scene is similar to the one in 0.2 when she said "now i can be one with darkness". 5) Aqua remained stuck in the realm of darkness for more than 10 years, without a coat or an armor, demostrating that she has a very strong heart and she's very powerful, Terra was a pain in the ass for Xehanort to control and he was weaker to the darkness compared to Aqua, she's very stubborn and has a strong heart and Xehanort knows that. 6) in the dark margin Xehanort cannot possess Aqua, because in her heart there's too much light and we know that Xehanort, if he want to possess someone against his/her will, he needs that his/her heart is mainly darkness, so maybe he wants her to be corrupted by the darkness and then possess her, but i don't think so, because 7) in the toy story trailer young Xehanort stated that thay miss a darkness and that he came in this world to look for a clue to bring him back (Roxas i think), Sora toy model matches his KH3 outfit, we saw a scene with Riku and Mickey coming back from the realm and Sora has his KH2 outfit, so that conversation between Young Xehanort and Sora happens after what happened to Aqua. Considering that Xehanort has already 12 darknesses in DDD and in KH3, we can assume that she's not possessed. My theory is that Xehanort wanted Aqua to become a haertless and create a nobody and then use that nobody as the last vessel, but that plan fails and Xehanort has to look for another vessel. Here's why she's not "norted", also Aqua is just corrupted and thanks to her strong heart, she was able to maintain her human form without turning into a darkling and loosing the ability to wield a keyblade.

If she was really norted as you believe, she would called Aquanort, just like Terranort, but nope, it's Anti-Aqua, the same name that Sora has in KH2 when he entered in anti-form and Sora in that form is similar to a shadow and Xehanort doesn't have anything to do with that. You have to accept that she's just corrupted, not norted. I accept that she's corrupted, i think that is a great evolution for her character, painful to see of course, but now you need to accept, and everyone else that STILL believes that she's norted, that she's "just" corrupted, something that it was obvious since the beginning.

It looks as if she is norted, and I believe so. However, it seems we will be able to dispell whatever it is in possession of her and restore her to her former self. There was a trailer released some time ago with Vanitas standing on top of Aqua about to impale her, just like he was before in the Keyblade Graveyard right befere Ventus interrupted him. The scene is in the Land of Departure. A barrier is blocking the path to the thrones where Ventus would be. Even though I am under the impression that we will be able to save her from her dark fate, I am worried that she might not make it alive after all.

Captain Ramirez It's the complete opposite my dude. I don't understand why everyone thought she was norted when it was obvious from the get go (from that the trailer) she wasn't.
You could can easily shoot down that theory just by looking at her, first her hair is silver and that only happened to Terra when Xehanort completely possessed him, second being "norted" only changes your eyes and ears not your hair nor personality and even less your clothes (not even Terra's clothes changed when Xehanort took over his body) and last but not least her the personality of people who were norted remained the same they did not became instantly evil and subservient. I'm still confused by the fact this was a debate to begin with, is completely obvious she was corrupted by darkness, and everyone who believed or still believe (coughhmkcough) clearly didn't pay attention to the previous games.
