- This was a remarkable trip and awesome experience. We hope you enjoy this scenic journey along the Current River that began at Round Spring State Park and concluded at Big Spring. We were very fortunate on this run! The weather was perfect, the water clear and the wildlife abundant. Unlike our previous video, which features what is considered to be the upper portion of the Current, we have included a narrative that provides some highlights about the river. We encourage you to watch this piece in its entirety, you won't be disappointed! As always, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! More projects will follow.
Recently purchased 6.68 acres in Eminence MO because of these rivers and springs. I fell in love with this place on my first trip.
Jealous!
Can't beat spring fed. The area feels so pure
We've been 30+ times since we were little.
Would love to be closer but it’s a 5 hour drive for us. Someday! I seriously could float these rivers (Current and Jack’s Fork) every weekend if I had the time.
Are the Bigfoot problems getting any better?
Ozark rivers are the gems of Missouri
@@JoshFlorii Absolutely!!
Thank you SO much for this. It has been many years since I have floated down the Current River, and your beautiful film has brought back so many cherished memories
We are absolutely pleased that you enjoyed it!!
Any day on Current River is a good day. Stunningly beautiful. You need to do one on the Jack's Fork from Alley Springs to Two Rivers.
We absolutely agree! We have discussed Jack's Fork recently in fact. It is on our list of rivers to visit. Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Missouri the glorious!
Definitely the Crown Jewel of the Missouri Ozarks.
We totally agree! Of the rivers we've experienced, it's definitely the top of our list.
thanks for sharing, im from MO and i've lived in alaska since 1998 and have seen some amazing things, but something i defintely miss and is uncomparable are these beautiful rivers.
We completely agree!!
Incredible landscapes...what a gorgeous river! Very relaxing to watch...I could just put this on a loop.
Thank you! We enjoy your channel as well!
I remember floating this river in the mid to late 90s. Those were some of my favorite memories from my childhood. Minus the horseflies.
Many childhood memories as well. It's truly a river with its own particular attributes. Not many like it. We're glad you enjoyed it!
What river is this where is it located
@@monickashworth1204 Current River and it's located in SE Missouri
I really enjoyed from beginning to end What can I say just Great!
I like the history of the river fun facts along the way and no annoying music always helps this is peaceful
That's definitely what we strive for! As far as facts, we enjoy speaking to locals and obtaining information from them. Whether it be a ranger, or someone who has lived in the area for years, its most always a rewarding conversation.
So beautiful! I feel like I’m there. Never seen the lower Current. We always float the upper Current.
It’s beautiful, all the way down to Doniphan!
Thank you for sharing the peace and beauty of this amazing river.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching!
You've got one of the best channels on UA-cam!
Thank you so very much!!!
Oooff what a good float
great video, river is stunning
Thank you! It absolutely is!
Very nice video. I have only floated as far as Round Spring and have always wanted to float further down. This might finally seal the deal for me! Cheers!
Awesome! You should float all the way down to Gooseneck.
All I see is fish! 😁 (I have a one track mind). Beautiful video! We done!
Thank you! That river is loaded! Trout, bass etc.
Thank you for sharing. You captured a great river and the same views I saw this summer.
We’re very glad you enjoyed it!
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO! I’ll be heading that way this summer to at least walk the bank. Make more videos !
THANK YOU 🙏🏽
Glad you’re getting out there! It is stunning! We will be bringing more videos your way. Thanks for watching! And, we’re glad you enjoy them!
Beautiful!!!! Would love to do this river someday! ;)
Definitely a rewarding trip. Thanks brother!
Well worth it. My father grew up in this area and used to be a fishing guide when he was young. I have floated this area many times.
I’ve commented on your Jack’s Fork videos, these rivers are great. I think we’ve decided as a family to kayak Akers Ferry to Pulltite this year. I’ve heard good things about that stretch, especially Cave Spring. I just can’t wait.
That’s a great run. In our opinion, early fall is best!

Amazing cinematography!
Thank you!!!
This music represents how I feel paddling whether a lake channel or a river. Great video.
Thank you so much for watching! On those projects we are able to create an original score for, the scenery certainly provides inspiration.
What a cool video! I enjoyed this. Great edit. New subscriber here
Thank you! We really appreciate that and thank you for subscribing!
so beautiful, we did Baptist to Akers earlier this year
hope you had a great time!
Spectacular footage this is my backyard you are enjoying, thanks to the national Park system, otherwise I'll be 🛶🎣🐟🌲
Thank you!!! Spent a great deal of time in the area as a child. Visiting those rivers are like a trip home.
Great tour...thank you!
very beautiful! subbed and waiting to see more soon!
Thanks for the sub!
Love this work!!!!!
Thank you!!! We love that whole area!
Nice production folks
Thank you Sir!
Great photography. Haven't been to the current in about 20 years but now that i am retired, after watching this I need to go again even though some of my partners are no longer with us. Loved the video, thanks.
We are honored. Thank you! We consider the Current as one of our home rivers. You definitely should return. We recommend doing so in the Fall. This is our favorite time to run it.
Wow just wow
Thank you!! It is an incredible river! We’re going back shortly to paddle the last section we’ve not paddled before. Thanks for watching! !
@@AVAJourneys I live on the lower section down by doniphan. I love our rivers for there beauty
Been there don’t forget pull tight love the bluffs !
Beautiful vid
Can't wait to paddle this, be here in June
Let us know. If we are clear, we may join you! If that is acceptable. We are always looking for an opportunity to run that river!
I wish I could speak with you on the phone about this float...My sister in law & I have floated several of the floats from Eminence area. We are planning several days in the are again and it’s so hard to choose where to stay, etc. We need to be able to speak to someone who is familiar with the area & guide us but not just trying to get you to stay at their place. We hope to kayak, rock hunt, hike, set along the creek, & just relax. I’ll be sure to watch your other video of the upper as well so we can compare. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! We rarely stay in lodges and/or hotels. Usually, we camp along our routes. Be it a hammock, or tent, it's the best way to experience the river or trail. With that being said, there are some great locations that provide lodging. Cabin rentals are one avenue. A web search will reveal some options. The Landing in Van Buren is a great formal lodge, although a bit expensive depending on the season. Montauk State Park has some overnight options as well. The two aforementioned are located along the Current. Hope this helps! Our advice? Give an overnight along the river or trail a try. There are several gravel bars and the experience is certainly unique! Recommended outfitters for canoe or kayak rentals, in our opinion, are Two Rivers Canoe Rental and Jadwin Canoe rental.
well done Brenda
outstanding drone shots
Thank you!
excellent !!
Thank you! We've many more planned. You are correct in regards to captioning. We have discussed it and will start in future projects. Glad you enjoyed it!
Very well done! Narration is fine.
Thank you!!!
Minimum cfs in order to float this stretch? Water temp? Do we need a dry suit? Thanks for a beautiful video!
🥃🚣🏻♂️
Generally, the lower section is floatable year around. For winter floats I'd highly recommend a dry suit. We generally follow the rule of 100. If the air temperature and water temperature do not add up to 100 degrees, dry wear of some type may be required. The river is spring fed, so the approximate water temp probably falls in the mid 50s plus. Thanks for watching!!
Too cool for smallmouth bass fishing. Great video!
Very nice thank you. I love the area and I am "currently " looking for a small tract of land to buy somewhere in the area to build a cabin or possibly (preferably) a cave home if property has suitable cliff
Kylie & Michael Hughes help me look. I am putting the land deed in your names.
It truly is a beautiful area!
Good Stuff!
Thank you!!
My great grandfather caught many catfish out of this river! My Grandmother would tell me stories! She grew up in Doniphan Missouri.
That's great! I have vivid memories shared by my grandparents of the area that has always interested me. There is so much out there to be discovered and remembered. Thank you so much for your comment! The memories of those we hold important to us, may occasionally provide us direction.
Is the stretch always this shallow and are there good outfitters near where you started. Looks gorgeous and great vid
The depth and clarity vary, depending upon precipitation volume. We love the fall! The clarity is usually at its peak then. The shallow water levels are no issue. You might drag once or twice, but it's generally very navigable. I would recommend using Two Rivers Canoe Rental. Ask for Anita. Thanks for subscribing!!
@@AVAJourneys thanks, wanted to do this trip with my 8 old son thus the questions. We are from California and are void of such river systems here
@@vivsiv Great river for what you're looking for. Your son will love it! I'm from California as well. Moved to Missouri later, and then Tennessee in 96. The Current is unique, as it is one of the few protected river ways in the region. Let us know if you go, and how the trip went!
if your going to talk, please caption, some are deaf. subbed & liked
how were the deer flies on the long pools ?
Everywhere, lol
I would like to plan a 4 or 5 day trip down the Current. Any good suggestions?
Definitely plan to take your time and enjoy it! The entire river is beautiful, but the most isolated section is from Baptist camp to Roundsprimg. With 5 days, you could easily go to Two Rivers. It depends on how many miles you're comfortable with in a day. At our normal pace of 20 to 25 miles a day, or more sometimes, we can run from Baptist all the way to Van Buren within that time. Also remember, the more people in your group, the more time you'll need to allow. Lastly, another thing to consider, is you'll start to see jet boat traffic past Roundspring. We prefer running the Current in the fall, before time change. Less crowded, and you still have ample daylight.
@@AVAJourneys I really appreciate this. This information is like gold to a guy who only gets an opportunity to paddle camp once every few years. Just liked and subscribed. Thanks 🙏.
How long of a float from two rivers to big springs you think?
If memory serves, roughly 37 miles.
@@AVAJourneys thank you!
@@AVAJourneys If water levels are in my favor do you think that could be floated in about 2 - 2 1/2 days?
@@biggie3502 Easily, depending on your pace of course.
What you consider lower isn't. Lower is doniphan and down through Arkansas
Gotcha. That's more or less what we refer to anything below Two Rivers as. We've been down to Doniphan some years ago. I can't tell you how many times we've run the Current. We own property in Salem and have enjoyed the river since childhood. Thanks for watching!
Truely magnificent
Thank you!
..this is Jack Handy..
I live in Salem Missouri
where did you put in and out at?
how long was the trip?
i would like to do this float.
On the lower section, which this particular video features, we put in at Roundsprimg State Park and ended at Big Sprimgs State Park, in the town of Van Buren. Some agree that the most scenic float is from Cedar Grove to Roundsprimg. Below round spring, you may encounter the occasional jet boat. However, most boaters are courteous and respect kayakers. June, July and August are the busiest times of year for all visitors.
Oh, incidentally, the trip is approximately 60 plus miles. It took us two and a half days if I remember correctly. Although, if you'd like to really take your time, I would plan for a bit longer. You can find a mile by mile marker on the web. It provides a good approximation of distance and the location of landmarks. We have paddled this river from source to near the end of the protected section, located at Goose Creek. Additionally, I would also consider the Eleven Point and Jack's Fork. Both are incredible rivers.
@@AVAJourneys thanks i was just looking at some maps..
we'll be doing a trip from round to big spring this weekend.
thanks for the video and reply.
@@AVAJourneys thanks.
jack's fork is on the list.
