You have fantastic content, even when Chicken isn't on the screen. This video helped me immensely- at least to pick out firmwares for 2 of 3 micro SD cards. Thank you!
FYI - Batocera natively supports rom transfer fia SMB networking for PCs AND, you can reformat the batocara SHARE partition to NTFS and put it back in your device and Batocera will reconstruct the folders needed on next boot to the NTFS partition. After that, you can actually put the SD in your PC to get access to both the boot and share partitions. I do this on all my "SD based" devices I load batocera on.
I basically did the same thing you did. Got my Go Super yesterday and spent hours trying every firmware. Half of them don't have functioning volume buttons. In the end, Batocera was the easiest to use and the one with the least issues. I will say that half the fun is messing with different firmware and trying to get stuff to work.

@Retro Game Corps, just a tip here - since you have a ton of cards, if you get yourself a silver Sharpie you can write a unique letter or number on the back surface of each of those SD Cards and then keep a Google Doc or One Note or something to tell you which is on which. Can even pull that up on your phone.

I cant figure out the Super Mario 64 port. Is it the same process as the RG351P guide? I got it to work on the RG351p and RG351v I’m testing but it doesn’t work on the RGB310 Max.
Been using batocera on my 351p way back in Dec.. If you want to add roms from your PC with a fresh install go to system settings/developer/format a disk... pick "exfat" ... reboot it then turn it off take out the sd card and plug it into your PC and just copy over the roms ..

I hope for the 351V that you can switch the MicroSD card of the OS without changing the MicroSD card 2 with the roms so you can maybe do Dreamcast, PSP and N64 with the best OS for it. (what I mean is that I hope that every firmware will be compatible with the dual Micro SD slots)
Yes I hope it works out that way. But that also means that every OS will need to use the same file system / naming convention, which isn't the case on the RG351P. So it might be a tricky transition.
For any Linux based system, you can transfer directly to the SD card from Windows if you run a Linux file system program first, like the one by Paragon. It's trial based, but can be uninstalled & reinstalled as necessary. That lets you mound the card and transfer like normal Windows methods. Note: I jumped straight to the conclusion first & will go back from the beginning.
I did that in the early days of my RG351P, but I ended up having so many issues with the process that I stopped recommending it to people. I think that if you know what you are doing, using Paragon is possible, but I learned that it would just cause too many problems for the average user. So WiFi FTP it is instead :)
for the RetroOZ firmware can you tell me if the diablo port, not psx, has sound issues when talking to npc's. try all the town eople, most for me have really bad dialogue sound but some do not
Hey man, asking here as you seem to be good about replying to my comments, what EmuElec img should I be downloading for the Super? I am seeing a bunch of img file downloads on the git hub page for 4.0, and none that specifically say "Odroid Go Super".
Great video, thank you! Right now my main device is the RK2020, but my Odroid Go Super will arrive in a few days, thanks to your comparsion. Can one of the OS run Hypseus Singe? Maybe RetroOZ since it is close to ArkOS? :)
I prefer emuelec because I finally got an Android TV Box working (x88 pro mini) and having a single interface and I can copy game progress between devices makes things convenient.
I have an RGB10 Max 2. The sd card that came with the console from AliExpress crashed right after putting it into my comp and all is lost. Now I’m rebuilding my own sd, and am trying to decide which firmware is best. I’ve tried emuelec 4.3 but I have trouble finding assets to make it work, plus the file system is difficult to understand. Tried lineageOS but it’s so clunky I gave up right away. Now I’m on recalbox, and it’s not bad but I’m still wondering if there’s something better out there. I think I’m going to use it’s bios list and file system to rebuild my sd assets, but does anyone else have any other recommendations?
Where do get an Odroid go super for $80? EBay is confusing. $69 without console and SD card? What's that even mean? Or $200 with console and SD or $160 with no SD card. Really confusing.
This will run exactly as well as the RG351P, it has the same internal components. Check out my full review of the system! retrogamecorps.com/2021/03/10/review-odroid-go-super/
Did you do any testing on the loading speed of the different firmware? I was using Emuelec but it felt very slow. I'm currently using Batocera which feels much faster.
I didn't get actually time the boot speed, but yeah Batocera is pretty fast. I think RetroOZ is a bit faster, and RRVL was easily the fastest. LineageOS was the slowest, but not much worse than EmuELEC when you use the no-gapps LineageOS.
I got the Odroid Go Super a week ago and so far I've only been running EmuElec and I've been happy with it's performance. I also have a RG351M and the lack of stereo speakers on the Super is a minor take away for me.
@@RetroGameCorps I downloaded Batocera but I need to download a copy of Linux for Windows to copy rims to the sdcard. Heard about Disk genius but it's price tag is a no go.
I know the EmuELEC does sleep mode well. I'm trying out RetroOZ now, but the sleep mode doesn't seem to work easily. It's actually just powered off when all I wanted was for it to fall asleep. anyone else have this issue?
I have a PC, it's a middle-of-the-road build that I did a couple years ago. As long as it can run emulation, you can use various apps to link the OGS/LineageOS and the computer -- AMD Link (like I did), Moonlight (NVIDIA GPUs), or SteamLink (any computer).
Right now you can’t adjust the SD card partitions unless you have a Linux machine, so you’re stuck with very limited storage space - not enough for a bunch of apps or ROMs. So until that’s sorted out I recommend sticking with streaming, since you can accomplish that without worrying about storage space.
@@RetroGameCorps oh good point! After watching your video I feel much more informed and yet now I'm even less sure what OS I would pick if I decide to get a Super 😂 Great work and thanks for being so thorough
I've heard that RRVL is best for DC, but there are several different cores to use so you'd have to use multiple core associations -- not a plug-and-play experience, unfortunately. Batocera is a good compromise.
To be honest, the other available firmwares (Batocera, TheRA) aren't as well developed as 351ELEC and ArkOS, so I probably won't do another head-to-head with all of them.
Awesome!!! Is there any way to get GameCube or others higher emulation streamed from a Mac to ondroid go super? Will also Stadia work with ondroid go super?
Hi, you could definitely stream to the OGS if you use LineageOS, which I demonstrate in this video. Parsec would be a good choice. I don't think Stadia will work natively on the LineageOS image, but you could run it through a browser connected to your Mac via Parsec.
@@RetroGameCorps how do you compare this to PowKiddy RGB10 Max on all those features? Is everything also possible what I’ve requested in here with PowKiddy ? What’s your recommendations for my setup though?
Very interesting video, I can never figure out why on Arkos it can run some N64 games with no problems, but others either run very slow or have very choppy sound?
It's always a mixed bag, I have to experiment with the various emulators and RA cores to find the one that works best for each game, and then set per-game settings. We need a better GPU than what's on the RK3326 chipset!
@@jasonshiers5771 I just saw something on discord where they are delaying until the latter half of April. I don't mind, I need some room to breathe between releases!
I have a dedicated LineageOS video from a week or two ago. The issue is that you can only expand SD card partitions using a Linux box, so it’s out of the realm of typical users. So you have no real space for emulation/ROMs. That’s why I recommend streaming for now, until the partition issue is fixed.
My OGS should be my favorite device at this point, but I haven't found a firmware I love yet. I've tried EE, Batocera, and TheRA. Honestly, Retro Arch is really, really close, but the inability to navigate between pages/letters (using shoulder and left/right d-pad inputs) just kills me. I wonder how one would go about changing this... EDIT: That having been said, I think you've sold me on Retro Oz.
Try RRVL. It's a completely different take than other firmwares. It's RetroArch centric and everything is done within retroarch. It's very easy to use. I like that the brightness nd volume buttons are hardware button combos so you don't have to leave the game to change it. It's also very light and fast. And it's a rolling release model so no need to reflash SD card once it's installed.
@@StatusQuo209 Thanks, I'll give it a shot! I tried Retro Oz since I wrote this comment and I've honestly liked what's been done a lot. There are still some rough edges, but overall it's great. Still, worth trying RRVL. (Though there are some ports I like that I wouldn't have a clue where to begin with having RetroArch as a frontend.)
@@StatusQuo209 Well, I tried it! :) Unfortunately RA doesn't seem to play nice with my wifi when connecting directly. I'm unable to use the online updater at all to download assets, etc. I think my mesh network is making it grumpy. (Retroid Pocket 2 didn't like it either without some finagling.) Oh well. It does seem pretty snappy. Will try a few more things.
@@StatusQuo209 I found and old thread on reddit that talked about holding your RP2 directly next to your wifi router and trying to connect from there. (RE-entering password and everything.) Quite a few people reported it worked for them, so I did that and it worked!

I've heard that RRVL is best for DC, but there are several different cores to use so you'd have to use multiple core associations -- not a plug-and-play experience, unfortunately. Batocera is a good compromise.
@@RetroGameCorps cool...thanks. will try rrvl as well. thank you for the reply.
I'd love an updated version of this for RG351 devices
There is a 351elec, new firmware for RG351P/M. He did a video about it.
@@leolam2445 yes and the next video he showed he was using ArkOS.
I'd like n updated comparison video including the other options than the two :-)
To be honest, the other available firmwares (Batocera, TheRA) aren't as well developed as 351ELEC and ArkOS, so I probably won't do another head-to-head with all of them.
Can i apply all the information of this video of the original odroid go advance as well?
Most of it, some of these builds are exclusive to the OGS. You'll have to check with each of the links I put in my written guide.
How come you don't have any reivew video for the PiBoy DMG??
Well, tomorrow is Pi Day, if that’s any indication for you 😎
Real question is.. Which firmware does Chicken like more?
Her and I are in agreement, RetroOZ is the best :)
What wifi dongle do you use? I need a slim 5ghz dongle.
TP-Link AC600. It's awesome, but so far I've only gotten it to work with EmuELEC and LineageOS
@@RetroGameCorps oh thx. So you‘d go for browser on OGS and parsec on Mac? Is parsec free version for one user? Or any free alternative available?
@@mrkleverapps hi, yeah it’s totally free. You’ll want to use the Parsec android app on the OGS (running LineageOS) and the Mac app on your Mac.
@@RetroGameCorps how do you compare this to PowKiddy RGB10 Max on all those features? Is everything also possible what I’ve requested in here with PowKiddy ? What’s your recommendations for my setup though?
@@mrkleverapps the RGB10 Max is the exact same device internally, all of these firmwares will work exactly the same as on the OGS.
Hiya Chief! I was wondering if you could tackle a video on using the cheat options for emuelec 4.0 or retroarena? 😉
Hi, check out my Quick Guides playlist, I have a video about running RetroArch cheats, which will apply to both of those firmwares!
@@RetroGameCorps oh! Thank you so much! That was really helpful 😁
like for the cat
Does AMD link have any pros over Steam link?
I found it to be more stable on my PC and the button mapping was easier and worked better for the OGS.
X18S out soon Russ 👍
@@jasonshiers5771 I just saw something on discord where they are delaying until the latter half of April. I don't mind, I need some room to breathe between releases!
Cheers for that Russ, I'll check it out.
Really would of liked to see emulators tested on LineageOS instead of just streaming.
I have a dedicated LineageOS video from a week or two ago. The issue is that you can only expand SD card partitions using a Linux box, so it’s out of the realm of typical users. So you have no real space for emulation/ROMs. That’s why I recommend streaming for now, until the partition issue is fixed.
the coolest would be if there was a possibility like on the switch with dualboot either lineageos or horizon os from one sd card.
That would be handy!
RetroOz has Wifi Issues. doesnt work
My OGS should be my favorite device at this point, but I haven't found a firmware I love yet.
@@muzll0dr how did you get the RP2 to connect? I'm curious. Thanks for reporting back man.
@@StatusQuo209 I found and old thread on reddit that talked about holding your RP2 directly next to your wifi router and trying to connect from there. (RE-entering password and everything.) Quite a few people reported it worked for them, so I did that and it worked!
U can review cheat game menu in firmware all
I wanna see rgb10 max
Can you try box86 on this?
Some people have tried to run box86 on the ODROID Go Advance, but I'm not sure they were successful.
odroid plus AMD link its gpd win3
I think running Android 11 would be best
Why not arkos?
Arkos is currently not supported on the ogs.
The developer doesn't have an ODROID Go Super, so others have been working to get it running on the device.
Your cat runs on ArkOS.
She's more of a 351ELEC fan :D
fecalbox? rectalbox?
