  • At 168cm I’m slightly vertically challenged against the T7 especially when I manage to drop it in wonderfully awkward spots like this one.
I use this technique when I’m tired because:
    1. Low grab points make the bike rest on my upper arms and chest. This eliminates unwanted biceps pull with other techniques.
    2. Grabbing low and pushing with chest puts as much my body weight over the bike as possible. Utilising it as counterweight.
    3. It gives legs better angle to do most of the work as rest of the body is locked onto the bike pressing against it.
Notice I get into position, straight back, look up/front not down and take my time. Deep breath or two and a big exhale engaging my core as much as possible!
    !!! Crucial !!!
Core is the thing which should do most of the support! Not back! You MUST engage the core otherwise you can hurt yourself!
    !!! Crucial !!!
Then just push and walk with your legs.
And it’s always good not to drop it again when walking around 😂☝️ This is the last pickup of the day after about 7 of them.
Please don’t tell me I need to do the back to bike pickup, I tried and I have good reason why that way is difficult for me. I have video we made with @improbablyadventuring showing all different techniques, check it out: • Picking up Yamaha Téné...

Thinking about getting Tenere for my first bike but I'm the opposite - normal height but too skinny -183cm 65kg.
Any chance I'd manage to pick it up at least few times in mud? Sadly I don't know anyone with such a tall bike to try myself.

@@FARANDFURTHER I am shocked - I thought your were bigger than me, so I am 2cm taller, not shorter than you. I think you motorbike boots have a higher heel...LOL ...Anyway I still look up to you, my friend!

I am 5’7” 170cm 29inch in seam. Bike feels tall but rides nicely. I have the OEM low seat fitted now and lowering link on order which should be more manageable for me off-road single track.
