I wanna express how the fact you treat patients like they are Actual humans with lives, troubles, emotions instead of just a number brings me to tears everytime
I've had a doctor who did my fistula surgery
First months went well since i was able to pass stool comfortably and twice a day some times
Then something gone wrong and i had SEVERE spasms all over my body including my digestive system
So what did bro do when i had another a
Consultation? Refeused to address main issue
Gave me some laxitives and fiber supplements and thats it
Then the worst fissure in my life happend and i've been struggling for a year now in the middle with anxiety, college, familial issues, stress
All of this wouldn't have happened if he just listened and descibed me some muscle relaxers
At that time i wasn't even able to sleep or breath properly at all even but i knew too late

I find that a 'squatty potty' type stool and sitting straight up while deep breathing and then exhaling the 'moo poo' sound deep within my diaphram really gets that muscle to open up. I learned this from a pelvic floor therapist. It really works. I use a 6 inch high yoga block as my 'inconspicuous 'squatty potty'....lol

Yes I developed toileting anxiety because I couldn’t poop, I felt like my rectum was coming out. Also a PFPT told me I need to poop in 2 mins, don’t push etc etc or I would get pelvic organ prolapse. I had hypertonic pelvic floor after hysterectomy. I totally ran with this and this all started my fear before I even got fissure. Pain from hemm and fissures. Was totally afraid. my heart rate would skyrocket and I was sweating, having panic attacks etc. Developed right muscles and dyssengernic defecation. I’ve had to use many techniques to try to deal. I’ve gotten a lot better but healing isn’t linear. I clench a lot too. Anal spasms even when I have to pass gas, my anus will clench up. I use breathing, meditation etc etc to try to deal. I’ve literally been toilet training myself again. LolYesterday was a bad day again and I’m developing fear. I’m so happy someone directed me to you. I feel so much better about things. Thank you Dr

    Hi Doc.
I have a weird case for you - explain this if you can!
When I am standing up or walking (mostly standing idle) I have a weird "burn/falling/spasmy" feeling in what I can only assume is my butthole.
I do not feel this when sitting at all.
When my bowel is full, I don't have the sensation. When I go to the toilet- immediately after and for all of the day, I have this weird sensation.
My proctologist here in Italy diagnosed me with hypertonic sphincter, and anal fissures, and a 2mmx1mm occult rectal prolapse.
Any ideas? I have had this for 1.5 years, it came on one morning after I pulled my groin exercising - weird!
Thanks Doc, even if you don't get back, I appreciate all your work and your friendly approach!! All the best

Just wondering if it is normal to feel your poop moving through your intestine? It doesn't always happen but sometimes I seem to feel it??? My intestine feels a bit tender but not painful. I'm thinking it may be irritable bowel that causes that tenderness...but I'm always constipated. I drink Smooth Move tea and it does help usually but not sure if it is safe to drink a few nights a week.

Listening to this clip, I'm not sure anymore if the pain is actually from the Hemorrhoid, or fissure or anal spasm. I was miss diagnosis as GP thought I was suffering from Hemorrhoid and I didn't get the right treatment I need until it developed to chronic fissure. Then got to see a specialist. The specialist prescripted an ointment and it was better for a week. After that, many few episodes of pain. Been using all types of cream and ointment (including Pranicura5), still no improvement. Now, I'm not really sure if the pain is actually from fissure anymore. Or it could have been anal spasm. How will I know? I noticed though, whenever I released gas the pain seems to reduce for a bit and back again. Can you shed a light for me on this?

Thank you for this! I didn’t have the words to describe what my problem was before watching this video! Is there anything I can/should do to help release/relax the sphincter muscle for an immediate issue? I’m on Day 17 without pooping. I’ve been taking a stool softener for the past week - but don’t know if a laxative is a good idea or not since my body is already trying to push the stool out - it’s the doorway (sphincter) that is not opening to let it out (even when I push with near eye-popping strain). With each additional day that passes, I am more stressed out about it which is probably working against me. I can’t get in to see my family doctor for at least another week. When does this become an emergency? 17 days! Should I try a laxative?

@@Average_Retail_Trader_ Ha ha. I survived thanks. At the end of the 18th day, I did go to the ER. They knocked me out and dug out as much as they could, then did an enigma and released me. For the next 7 days, they told me to take 4 doses of Restoralax per day. After that, they reduced me to 1 to 2 doses per day but I’ve been getting by on 1 a day. Was very scary and hope I never have to go through that again!

It could be anal spasm due to hemorrhoids and fissure. Chances of IBS in such a case is less because I have also suffered from fissure and used to think that its IBS but it turned out to be spasm or tightening due to fissure..

I think stress is definitely a big factor. I have had pain since 2019. Colorectal surgeon said I had anal fissures. Tried using nitroglycerin for 3-4 months, then had a lateral internal sphincterotomy at 25 y/o in 2020.
Still continued to have pain, have had endoscopy and colonoscopy in 2021, bunch of stool tests, MRI. Then initial surgeon said I have levator ani syndrome.
Still having same pain today. Increases with stress, bowel movements, sitting, sex, heavy weight lifting. Everything in this video I can relate to very well.

There is very little information on anal spasms and when you are young there is very little education on colorectal health. All they tell you is not to strain. I suffered spasms for two years uninterrupted years ago. It was my fault..I was young and strained like I never did before and hurt myself. It took a long time to finally calm it down. Now I get them for awhile after bad constipation episodes. I find that a small electric massage wand helps interrupt the spasms when they show up.
