    Bingo. I so much agree with you about colonoscopies. I used to know two people who died of them. On top of this, I’m concerned about the anesthesia. Every video I see of yours has given me faith in the medical industry as for years I’ve been skeptical. You take information and make it clear and use it in an objective way. Thank you. I wish I still lived in So. California as I’d be in for a visit.
    Edited to add: Mucous. That explains everything. Thank you again!

    I absolutely LOVE you! I think it's totally awesome that you're making these videos. What you talk about is real and we all can relate.
    I don't know what happened after the Roman Empire when toileting was a social gathering, but the puritanical embarrassment of universal bodily functions astounds me. I'm a retired ER nurse and I can't tell you how many times I've had to do this kind of education and folks were mortified at having to listen to it. It shouldn't be that way.

    I needed this video. I'm 14 weeks removed from anal fistulotomy. At my 12 week follow-up, my doc said it looked fully healed. I tried to explain to him that I was getting drainage overnight from the fistula site. He seemed confused that I could tell it was from there. Well, I've been following my butt sweat patterns pretty closely the past few months, given everything. Anyhow, about a week before Thanksgiving, I had normal ass sweat patterns after my workouts, and figured I was about out of the woods. Then the morning after Thanksgiving, I woke up to a large "blotch" of watery stain on my boxers. I've had that every night since. It doesn't exactly smell. My doctor basically told me it was impossible to know that's where it was coming from and laughed and told me I just had a sweaty ass. Well, I feel more confident that it is indeed sweat after watching this video. That said, it's definitely from the fistula site/anus, and not along the buttcrack, like my "normal" butt sweat. I also deal with "swamp ass" most mornings as it's not super cold in my office. Really hoping this isn't a long term thing, because I don't remember being like this before everything.

    I believe my doctors are fully convinced that I'm greatly exaggerating my symptoms. My GI told me, after a clean colonoscopy, that "Remember a few drops of blood can make the toilet water look very red". This was after I had asked where he thought the alarming amounts of blood pouring out of me was coming from. I just don't understand. I'm a girl. I have a period. A very heavy period doesn't compare to the amount of bright red blood that sometimes SPRAYS the front of my toilet or the clots or incontinence. I really think I have a fistula. It looks like a large skin colored lump/cylindrical thing with a slice opened up on the tip. It is EXCRUCIATING. Thank you for listening to my rant. 😩

    I have read about another possibility for mucus with a bowel movement. Cervical fluid (aka cervical mucus) is abundant around the time of ovulation and more may be pushed out during a bowel movement. I read about a woman who didn't realize the mucus had come from her vagina and went through all kinds of unnecessary testing because she thought it was from her bowel.

      That's crazy. I can feel it come out of my vagina if it's noticeable and how often could that have possibly happened. I'm gonna go with STD 😂 like literally, I'll feel discomfort then get the glob and be like ohhhhh the parts are doing random unusual stuff again.

    • @RosemaryAmey
      @RosemaryAmey 10 місяців тому

      @@terrorists-are-among-us, actually, many AFAB people have a noticeable quantity of cervical fluid come out around the time of ovulation, so about once a month. It's healthy and in fact functions to increase the odds of getting pregnant and not a sign of and STD. (Google cervical mucus for more deets about how cervical fluids change throughout the menstrual cycle.)
      STDs can cause discharge too, so if you have concerns obviously talk to your doctor.

  • @aprildegele1510
    @aprildegele1510 11 місяців тому +2

    I agree about the blood (from years of experience). Blood IN the poop is much different than blood ON the poop.
    I used to educate folks with significant nose bleeds or bleeding after a tonsillectomy, that they may see dark maroon stool, and that it was because it was swallowed. It should clear within a few days once the nose bleed, or tonsillar bleeding, has stopped.
    I have diverticulitis with diverticulosis, for which I've already required surgery once. On my last colonoscopy, I have 2 new diverticulosis. Yay me. However, this is also an inflammatory condition, and when I'm going to have a flair because something has gotten caught in a fold in my colon (I no longer have a sigmoid colon), I will see it before I have pain by the way of mucus in my stool. So, my point is that if you have a diagnosis that you know will cause mucus in your stool, if you pay attention to it, you can get on top of it so you don't require antibiotics.
    As soon as I see mucus in my stool, I go full liquid, with half of my intake being Kefir, to enhance the good bacteria in my gut. This has saved me from further surgery, because I have little left that can be taken without a bag.
    I wouldn't care about a bag if that's what it comes to, but I'm allergic to adhesive. That's a problem.
    It's also saved me from antibiotics that I can't tolerate. I absolutely cannot tolerate Flagyl. I tried after I was diagnosed and even with Reglan, I couldn't tolerate it. Second round had to be Augmentin, and that failed, so surgery.
    My point is that mucus can be a sign of something to come before it happens, like Chron's or diverticulitis, or a few other things. Understand the sign, and get ahead of it, and you'll be doing yourself a favor.

    As to the black poop thing ... I had a mother bring her child to the ER because she'd read on WebMD (ugh) that black stool meant blood, and blood is bad. This kid was about 7. So, I started my assessment and nothing lead to any probability of any upper GI bleeding issues. Kid totally healthy. So, I asked "Has he been to a birthday party lately". Mom reported that he had only 2 days before. So, I asked "did the cake have black icing?" to which she replied that the theme was music and the cake had a big, black record as decoration. Black cake icing is actually deep green and can come out the other end looking black when mixing with stool.
    Pepto bismol can also cause black stool because of the color of the Bismuth, FYI.

    Hi Dr. I’m from Mexico City, I got a hemorrhoidectomy with one of the so called best surgeons in my city on Nov 10th. In his own words, he “cut off” 2 big internal which caused all the bleeding (which was my main and only issue, zero pain). And 4 external were “cauterized”. I’m now 6-1/2 weeks away from the surgery now and I’m still bleeding after BM’s sometimes. Also, there’s small clots still coming out eventually, and BM’s are still painful at the very beggining. There’s still some bloody discharge after BM’s too. Do you think that’s normal? My doctor hates to be “annoyed” , and my next appointment after the 1 month mark one, it’s on the 2 month mark… Please, any advice is deeply appreciated. Best regards from 🇲🇽

    Just the video I needed. I had a LIS about a year ago. Every since I've been having a drainage. It doesn't seem to be water.... Its bright red after a BM on TP. and always damp seems like a mucus or Pus. I went back to my surgeon and he prescribed two antibiotics and I am still having the issue after a month of taking the antibiotics. What could this possibly be?

    Hi just found your channel. I do casual weight lifting and suffer from flair ups of hemorrhoids every time I do squats. I try to cut them out and do one leg at a time exercises. And also try to do lower weight with lots of reps but I still get hemorrhoids sometimes
    I’ve tried really relaxing that area and just focusing on my leg muscles but it doesn’t seem to help. I wish I could do barbell squats bc they are the best bang for your buck.
    Anyway. Open to whatever advice you can offer. Or if theres safe leg day exercises I can do instead ?

    People should DO the colonoscopy for SURE. What you don't know CAN hurt you. There is no way to know unless you DO the procedure.

    • @yourfriendlyproctologist

    Guys, I have a question. I have normal and regular bowel movements and I push what wants to come out, but then I feel the need to sit there and strain every little piece out afterwards until I don't see anything else fall out. I'll still continue to see small pieces fall into the water if I strain and I do it until no more falls out because I want to know I'm empty. Should I be doing that and why do I see small pieces when I strain? Then sometimes after straining, I'll feel the urge to go again and it'll be diarrhea. When should I stop pushing?

      Don't strain and push AT ALL!!!! 🙅🏼‍♂️ Just relax, close your eyes, meditate, and just let go of the poop and let it fall out naturally. Do a couple of very gentle, vaselined up small enemas afterwards to flush out the last bits, and then wash. Be very careful with your bottom end if you want to avoid severe issues down there. DON'T PUSH

      It may (have) initially, but concentrate on the "cooling" sensation and the instant itch relief and you get used to it very quickly, and it just takes a tiny dab rubbed around the area as needed. Really, it's the familiar scent of it "down there" that takes the most getting used to. But the relief it provides is so well worth it! 😌

    For the past five years I’ve been experimenting this anal redness. I don’t want to say it’s an irritation because I don’t know what that means, to me at least. Mine is become beat red and it warm to the touch. And it’s painful. More of a burning sensation. And this is combined with leakage. As the doctor described above, it is wet with some stool. I have good health insurance so I’m not coming here to ask for someone to diagnose me, but rather for someone to identify with me. I’m going to make an appointment to see a Gastro (this would be the fourth one) for a diagnosis.
