Thank you for your videos, Dr. I have been suffering from mild to sometimes severe hemorrhoids. With occasional bleeding. I've been strict about diet and fiber as well as using Lax-a-day. My GP finally referred me to a proctoligest who said he could help me by banding my hemorrhoids. This was 4 weeks ago. I've been through hell and have ended up worse off than before. I now have external hemorrhoids that were nit there before. What should I do? My surgeon says he's done and can't help me. He said I have to live with it and that I'm the 2% that goes wrong and I should not do this kind of surgery ever again.
I previously commented on a video you made in regards to water only fasting and hemorrhoids. I stated their that I saw moderate success in getting the ruptured vessels to heal by "giving them a break" but this is far from a cure. Intermittent fasting is "the way" for anyone dealing with an inflammation response to food though because it limits the amount of times you need to go daily. I went on to figure out some time ago that a low dose otc decongestant (10mg Sudafed) alleviates the swelling enough to have a complication free bm, I'm not sure how well this will work in the long run but it makes regular bodily functions less of an emergency for sure on flare up days. I also figured out that the bleeding OUTRIGHT STOPS on "the next bowel movement" using cayanne peppers natural ability to cease bleeding. I currently use franks red hot until I'm able to make it into surgery😂

I know it’s off topic for this video specifically Dr Chung but could you maybe cover something about the roll of mucus in fissures. I know it’s typical talking about the haemorrhoids but I’ve heard about it with fissures and suspect this was the reason for my mucus too. It usually seems to crop out when the anus and pelvic floor is super tight for me. But that may be unrelated. I feel the mucus irritates the skin down there including the fissure even with the scar tissue there. It can be quite hard to clean too. But it’s only there a few times a week and has been there at various stages during the fissure healing but didn’t start until quite late on. I’m not sure if that typical or not. Anyway there’s not much info out there on mucus and fissure. A follow up topic I wonder if it’s worth mentioning some of the more Oral based medications and the pros snd cons and what they can help with. I’m thinking things like your amitriptyline, pregabalin etc that are being used off label for pain or spasm, nerve issues after a fissure etc. And possibly even things like Valium suppositories or muscle relaxers. Thanks again doc. I know you’ve probably got a lot of great topics already lined up!

When my external hemorrhoid first appeared I was in horrible pain from bowel movements and just during the day. It has been two weeks since my external hemorrhoid first appeared. I use a cream, etc. A doctor I have seen said it may go away on it's own as if nothing happened. I don't know why the recovery if I decided to have it removed would be any worse than what I am experiencing now. Will it go away on it's own? Maybe just left with a simple skin tag to remove?
I had an internal roid' and external roid', removed yesterday. It was the worst experience I've ever had. With no warning from my Dr. (which I'll never understand). Removing the internal roid, was very uncomfortable. If my hemoroids ever return , I'm leaving them alone.
I know you’re a great doctor but Once you said it’s like you have a fissure for 10 days my eyes got so wide with trauma and paranoia. I had a fissure and I had to get it removed through surgery because creams weren’t working. I would never wish that amount of pain on anyone in the world that I know. The fissure was WAY worse than the recovery. It was the worst experience of my life I wanted to die every day. If I feel anything back there, any little sting now, I start crying thinking about what I went through for 4 weeks before I got surgery. Couldn’t do one more day of that ever. Much less 10.
So sorry you had to go through that. A bad fissure is excruciatingly painful, so much so that you end up being afraid to go to the toliet. I hope you have had no recurrence of the issue.
@@martinkingston1498 thank you I appreciate that. It’s been almost a year since surgery. I couldn’t sit comfortably without feeling a sting or pinch for 9 months after surgery for some reason. Got a colonoscopy and was told I had internal and external hemorrhoids which was weird because I NEVER strain or sit for too long on the toilet. Don’t know how long I had them either. Now it’s ok. The occasional pinch or sting but I’m finally able to sit down for extended periods which helps because I drive part time for living. Giving up Gluten seemed to help but idk.
@@theeradic5629 same here dude, i has LiS surgery for it, the fissure was basically death, someone could shot me in the head and i’d have less pain than the fissure itself. bowel movements were feeling like stabbing yourself with a longsword. Anyways, i had external hemorrhoids accompanying, now i worry if ill ever have to get them removed, i dont have pain during bowel movement most of the time but after the bowel movement i have some pain/discomfort in the area and looks swolen. But now hearing that the recovery is like a big fissure hell nah dude. I think its over for us. Both options are bad. And does the doctor in the video says “They never shrink but always get larger with each flare up”? I’d doubt that, if thats true we will end up having to get them removed at some point no?
@ I got a colonoscopy some time after as well and doctor said I had external and internal which doesn’t make sense to me at least because I never strain. I’m sorry you went through all that. It’s lonely, painful and depressing. I still feel itchy back there or a stinging sometimes and i have to go back to the bathroom to keep cleaning myself periodically after I go. That was never the case before this fissure. Sitting isn’t always the most comfortable either. The external ones I guess will keep flaring up but I’m not touching the internal ones. It is what it is I guess. Sucks. Idk what you use as far as creams but A&D works very well for me.
@ I don’t use any creams for hemorrhoids, I just do warm water sitting for like 5 mins after bowel movement if im at home. Only thing we can hope for now probably is to not get to a point where we will need medical intervention for the hemorrhoids lol

So im aware this is an old video... I just wanted to say that i had a hemrroidectomy about 4 year ago for internal hemorrhoids... The pain was so bad... Couldnt sleep, walk, or poop for a week basically anything.. only relief was a warm bath...so i basically lived in there... And now there back. But now my body decided to add an external thombrosed hemorrhoid that hurts so bad. are hemorrhoids genetic? Im so frustrated
It's a thought decision for me, because I know how painful a Thrombosis can be because I had them more times that I wanted to, but at same time, I am not sure I should do the procedure. 😞
Use five cloves of garlic dice them up put them in a bucket and add 1cm or 2cm of hot boiling water in the bucket and sit on the bucket it will help with the pain so much.
I have hemorrhoids but I want to say there internal? Because only when I sit down and use the restroom they come out are those internal? Or external doc?

My surgeon was good but if any surgeon says that your pain will be gone within a week or 2, they just absolute liars..yes pain starts to reduce after 2 weeks but it still around pretty consistently for 4 weeks easily... It's been just a little over a month & I still can't sit without a donut pillow. Even when have to go for follow up check up to the doc, have lay down sideways in thy back seat, cause sitting in a car even with a donut is extremely uncomfortable.. Recovery is just an absolute shit slow.. I truely detest my life right now stuck inside home.
How you feeling now I hope you feel better
tbh I'm in 1.5 months in recovery, it has reduced a lot (very less pain than had hemorrhoid)
but 1+ month was very traumatic because of pain especially while pooping
Nifedipine and Lidocaine anaesthetic cream helped with Movicol 3 times a day
(Just to be worried about stricture complication)

I have this condition but no pain yet , for over 9 years. Feels some pains after stool if constipated but not much. Been trying to manage it at home with local herbs.
I have had the hemorrhoidectomy done by a doctor that haven’t recommended me nothing after the surgery, not a dietary, not even a pomade, just pain killers. it turns out that after the pos surgery I developed a new external pile that has grown and it won’t come out without another surgery. So yeah, it can be really frustrating this surgical pile path…

@@d3vilmaycry25 not sure you can comment unless you have given birth. A hemorroidectomy is painful. I’ve had two because the first failed. I think there is worse pain…it’s just the place where it is and the fact you need to frequently use that area!!
@@CrueLoaf I could say the same thing to you, do you give birth? The painful part of giving birth is the contraction of the uterus, it’s like a bad muscle cramp, Hemorrhoidectomy involves burning and cutting of a nerve enrich region of the body to remove a blood vessel with nerves wrap around it.

Hi Dr Chung, regarding this Video, it sounds like you are saying you can do the External Hemorrhoid's surgery at your office, less evasive and less complicated. If so, is there a difference in the removal procedure? Are you still cutting out the Hemorrhoid's and stitching it?
What can I expect from large internal hemorrhoid surgery? How painful, recovery time, do I have to remain in the hospital? I’ve had it for years but to be honest, I’m a bit afraid of the surgery
Is banding an option?

So very helpful! I have been vacilating with my decision for a Hemmoidectomy and because of your videos I can now make an informative decision :)
This video helps me a lot. Last week, I had the most painful 6 days of my life. Thankfully, I watched this video! 🥹 And he is right, it just needs a proper high fiber diet. I took Daflon and pain relievers for 5 days only. And everytime I poop, I rinsed my butt with warm water. Thankfully, it's gone now but decided to continue the high fiber diet. I only ate vegetables, fruits and oatmeals. I am taking green tea and fiber drinks too.

Every three or four years I’ll get a really bad week or two flareup where the hemorrhoid looks like it’s external but then once the swelling goes down it’s like nothing ever happened. Would mine be classified as an external hemorrhoids or prolapsed hemorrhoid?
I think you were referencing me from my past comments. I appreciate you addressing the issue of your in office procedure for external hemorrhoids. I would like to know how to find someone in my state who also does this procedure so that I might make an appointment.
I suggest going to www.fascrs.com and find a board certified specialist near you.

Hi Dr.Chung. Great work and many thanks for the educational videos. Quick question. Can HET treatment be used on external hemorrhoids and do you perform that procedure in your office? Thank you
I think I has three external hemmorhiods, I don't feel any pain but eating anything that's too strong like beef which may be heavy for my stomach I would get some blood on my waste, other wise eating light which will not impact my nervous system it would be okay
I think it's both external and internal. Coz blood in your waste signifies that it's internal
should hemroids be removed even if they are external, prolapsed and you have NO symptomsd except light bleeding occassionally
I had a hemroid for years and since it didn’t bother me too badly I left it alone.
So one day when I was done doing a number 2 in a Porta potty I didn’t have anything to clean down there well. So what I did next was a true blessing. So I wiped my self down there with tp. and the alcohol based hand cleaner !
Talking about the PAIN !
Ok within 48 hours while sleeping the hemroid bled out with a small pool of blood.
That’s it I was cured no more hemroid. I believe they call that a hemotobin ?
I call it a blessing from Jesus ! 🙏🏼

What is your opinion on the laser surgery?
Thanks doc. Liked and subbed.
So if you don't have insurance and uou have hemorrhoids and need a surgery how much would cost?
I am working class person and some months I don't have job
For me,
I changed my diet,
not too much protein, not too much fibre.
Helped significantly reduce them drastically.
For pain flare up, I would Ice them. Apparently the vessels constrict and don't allow it to swell up.
It depends on how bad they are. If you differ from 4th degree prolapse it's very difficult to make them go away forever.
I’m scared.. I have externals and I’m unsure … I have about 4 maybe so debating surgery on Wednesday 😢
In the long term, you will be so glad you had them removed. Just take it easy the first few days.
How are you feeling now?

Just what I was looking for. Excellent advice. I wish you were working in Pakistan! Cannot find a proctologist here in Lahore
Should I get surgery on old external hemorrhoids that aren’t swollen just tissue? I prefer to get rid of them. Idk if my ins. will cover.

When my external hemorrhoid first appeared I was in horrible pain from bowel movements and just during the day. It has been two weeks since my external hemorrhoid first appeared. I use a cream, etc. A doctor I have seen said it may go away on it's own as if nothing happened. Hey doc I got an external hemorrhoids it’s not large but like a small lump does it go away on its own?
