I get chill bumps listening to this and reading how much everyone else loves it as much as I do. Kind of makes it worth all those hours I spent searching photos, and putting them to the song while my husband reminded me of my computer addiction. Whatever. Long live Frampton. Keep on writing, and playing Peter. Love you. coco
Thanks cocojax, nothing i like better than to play this with the lights out, takes me back to the long hot summer of '76 when i was baby sitting with my girlfriend, still brings a tear to my eyes.
I can remember exactly where I was when I listened to the frampton comes alive album back around 76 or 77! There was something different about his music from the other rock legends I had been listening to! I still love frampton as much as I did back then! I'm proud to have lived my teenage years in the 70s! Some of the best music ever made!!!
This is such a great song. When everyone else was listening to "Baby I love your way" and "Show me the way" from Frampton Comes Alive, I was listening to this song over and over. Pure genius!!! Frampton at his best!
Shakes my head, 58 years old and I still tear up in the eyes when I here Frampton play songs like this. I went to a lot of concerts in the 60's and 70's,,, I feel like I have been taken back to those hot summer days in stadiums rocking and swaying, not a worry in the world. It is songs like these and artists like these that we should never let fade away.
What a moving song!! I'll alway's go back to it when i'm down and blue. Thank You Peter and your amazing band's!! Why can't artist's today take the the time to craft good, solid, blue's-based tune's like this? Rock on people!
I was at the pontiac concert in 1977.Pushed up against the plexiglass, not 3 feet from Peter Frampton. What a great quote "to re-live just 2 minutes" of that night. I had written him telling him how much that night and his music meant to my life.Tonight Peter Frampton accepted my friend request and added himself to my facebook page.I was as excited tonight as I was back in 1977.That Frampton Comes Alive album changed music forever.Few have ever or will ever mean that much to music ever again.MSB
wife surprised me with tickets a couple of months ago, I can't stop listening to him again......been listening to Frampton for 30+ years now, never gets old.....
A song that really gets to the heart of all the losses we have to face. Sheer sorrow, but Frampton's guitar genius always spins forward to hope. Perfect.
I think what makes this song so special is his plaintive singing. He really, really understands what makes people tick. Plus he's a great guitar player and a really nice bloke.
I saw him live when I was 13, in Brisbane..OMG....a hundred years ago, what a concert, what a man, and he has a sense of humour, ridiculously talented and humble..I love Peter Frampton :-) This particular song is just evocative and beautiful.
I would listen to "Frampton Comes Alive" over and over.....so I would listen to this song over and over.....when your listening and enjoying this beautiful music, it just transfixes you on every word that comes from his mouth, every note he plucks....I do believe he (not only with his looks) but more importantly with his music, has a way of putting you under his sweet spell all the way into dreamy land......
Puts chills down my back. I met Peter in Chi town after a show. I was Star struck...because as a teen I played 'Frampton comes alive' on the record player till It blew up. When I hear this now Its like one sum record of my whole life in one full swoop~~~~ Guess YA had to be there. My Family of Friends!
Cocojax, Beautiful!!! I've been Crying to this song for over 30 years and yet, I cry again. Thank You! Frampton makes LOVE to the guitar. And we feel it.
I have loved this song from his Frampton Live album for years. Always reminds me of younger days and younger loves. This rendition could be my new favorite. Such emotion and such talent. Rock on Peter Frampton!!!!
And I love watching all those "choice" pictures of him through the years as he sweetly tickles those strings. Amazingly, he was a beautiful person on the inside, and all that he went through really couldn't "Take That Away" from him. Let's do it AGAIN!
I love this soul-stirring song so much, It doesn't even bother me. I'm just glad someone liked it enough to listen to it & ask. I love Frampton's music. He really is a musical genius, and that's not just my opinion. Keep the faith, man. coco
Just saw him last night here in Virginia. He was my first concert in September 1976 - I was 17. We we arrived last night we were shocked at how old everyone was. Ha! When did we get old. Peter was the same as usual; great jams, acoustic or electric and really a fun show. Us old folks didn't get up and scream as much but it truly was a great show for a fan! Hope you enjoy too!
wow...just WOW! he has always been one of my favorite players. he started me playing. i have always thought that the "comes alive" version of this song had some of the best guitar solos EVER. never thought he could top that version. this one comes real close!
WOW! After this first few notes, I was mesmerized! I've just been transported back to 1978 and I'm crazy in love at the tender age of 17. One night that felt like a lifetime in its' sweet, naive tenderness. Awesome and lifesaving to be able to go back in my treasured memories and relive such a beautiful moment. WOW!
We saw him last Summer and you could feel the love in the room. His fans adore him. He has a terrific stage presence and really makes the room feel like one. None of that crap ego shit of "Watch me" he enjoys what he does and brings the audience along with him. I have allot of respect for him.
The true "Greats" are timeless. When I attended his concert in Houston in October, there were fans at his feet from 14 on up. And one of my most memorable encounters ever was a young man to my left in his early twenties, whose first time it was to see Frampton. I really enjoyed sharing that show with him.
boy-you weren't kidding. this is an incredible gem and your description of the song, peter and his talents-the whole package-is absolutely true. it doesn't get any better. thanks so much for this!
I always thought the last few bars of this awesome song are perfect as an ending to it. Really beautiful and captures the time and place so well. That time is gone but we carry it with us.
Peter Frampton is an awesome guitar player. I played my Frampton Comes Alive album on my old record player to death. Was so in love as a teenager, telling my age. Saw him in concert in 1978 and 1980. He was great.
This is his absolute best. There are points on this version that feel better than any drug could ever feel! You gotta FEEL this one and not just listen to it! Thanks!
I had the honor to party with steve marriott...R.I.P. he was right there in peter's corner! this was 79 much respect from him and to both of them from me! God Bless both of you! you are rock and roll!!
I have been screaming for this for about 4 years now. I agree with everything you said. He is an enduring legend. Just saw him in the Summer and still amazed at the energy he has live. He is the real deal and should be recognized for it. Otherwise the RR Hall of fame is a joke
I just saw him a few weeks ago at the original site of Woodstock, Bethel Woods, NY...it was a magical night...and he's as soulful and fantastic as ever....I feel blessed to have seen him live...life changing...
You dont have to tell me that. I grew up with this album from the time i was 12 and my older brother was playing it everyday. 25 years later when i got into guitar this was the album and guitarist who gave me some of the biggest inspiration. His expression and sound have been a huge influence on me.
My Favourite track on the album Takes me right back to the mid seventies, long hair, motorbikes, The Holybush Inn, but most of all Gillian. Thanks Peter for some wonderful times and memories
The beginning of this song always me think of a rainstorm. As a guitar player, I know how he did it from a technique standpoint, but I as a player do not have one iota of his talent and soul.I could listen to him play all day....
I saw Peter Frampton a few years ago at the Starplex (Dallas). A warm summer's eve. At about the time this song started there was the slightest drizzle of rain. The couple of drinks I'd had had me in the best mood. LOVED it!
The zenith of power ballads. He was one of the greatest rock singers, guitar players and composers ever. And so very, very bluesy. Thanks for posting this, cocojax.
Brings me back to 1976...everytime i hear it...this song wil be ever "burned" into my brain....because it is so GREAT!...Long live Frampton Comes Alive!
Cuando me compré el Comes Alive, hace ya la friolera de 30 años, lo hice más por temas como Baby I Love Your Way o Show Me The Way, pero cuando escuché este tema me quedé totalmente colgado de él...Inolvidable Lines On My Face, banda sonora de una de las mejores épocas de mi vida ,mi feliz adolescencia...Gracias por todos aquellas impresionantes canciones, Peter.
I was lucky enough to see Frampton, Gary Wright (Dream Weaver) Rick Wakeman (Yes) Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, Lynard Skynr d& the Babes in Chicago back in 1976-1977. Frampton still rocks 35 + years later.
CocoJax's outstanding video combined with this incredible live performance from Detroit deliver a heightened version of one of Peter Frampton's most memorable and stunningly beautiful songs...
Thank you. lateforthesky61. I must've heard this song 200 times while making this video. I was (and still am) a novice, so for me to fade in and out right on the musical phrases proved to be a real challenge. After all that, can you believe that I still get chill bumps every time I watch this video. I found most of these pics from the web in 2005-2006, some I actually took at concerts. I still love to look at them. And of course I dearly love this song, and Peter Frampton. That's why this tribute was put together. Glad you've enjoyed it.
Love to read these comment's! They take me back to why I love him. I had that big "Frampton comes Live" poster on my door. Had the Frampton comes live album. It was about his music always. Of course he was Hot! Did not know it then. I was too young, I also had I'm in you. Love the way he plays Black hole sun. His son is awesome too.
CoCojax you are so right....I saw Pete way back in 76' and that tour was magical..The world was wrapped up in the Frampton frenzy. This version is truly the sweetest
I'm going to see him in a few days. Can't wait! Every year I buy my older brother choice seats for his birthday. Last year it was the Fab Faux. Amazing show. This year it's Frampton. My brother bought me my first Frampton album "I'm in You" in the 70's. Not his best work, but a solid album. Peters live guitar rig has changed a little since this Detroit show, but I'm hoping for the best. I will also miss Bob Mayo.
My 22-year old son (a lyricist and musician) said that this song was possibly about a relationship that never worked out. In fact...a relationship that never really became serious although the writer wanted it to work because he loved the woman. Interesting....and I think my son is right.. Beautiful song with a great amount of passion from beginning to end. Peter Frampton.... One of my all time favorites💖.
Orgasmic!!!This is the most beautiful song Peter ever recorded...I remember listening to this in the summer of 77' in Orlando .Fla in concert..Thank you again as always coco for another incredible memory....Jennajax....
There is no reason to comment on this song except that it is the major reason for living in the 1970's..Frampton and "Lines on My face" is a catalyst for change and separation for every "good" reason to be who you want to be.....Thats what this song is all about!
I get chill bumps listening to this and reading how much everyone else loves it as much as I do. Kind of makes it worth all those hours I spent searching photos, and putting them to the song while my husband reminded me of my computer addiction. Whatever. Long live Frampton. Definitely unique and wonderful!
This is such a great song. When everyone else was listening to "Baby I love your way" and "Show me the way" from Frampton Comes Alive, I was listening to this song over and over. Pure genius!!! Frampton at his best!
same here
Oh to be a teenager in the seventies again! There was no better time in my life. No cares or worries and songs like this take me right back!
Am I just getting older?Music from the 60's and 70's just ment so much more!!!
Ahhhh... lines on my face... such a beautiful song. I used to turn all the lights off in my bedroom and just crank this ... music was GREAT back then!
The voice and guitar from Frampton are balm to my soul. Frampton forever!
I never get tired of this song and the way Frampton plays...
Shakes my head, 58 years old and I still tear up in the eyes when I here Frampton play songs like this. Detroit is the hardest rocking town of them all. Detroit rock city!
Such a beautiful song! He's always been so talented and only got better with age.
Heard this song on car radio yesterday, but didn't get enough of it, so here i am again!! just fantastic. Thanks for the post !!!
wife surprised me with tickets a couple of months ago, I can't stop listening to him again......been listening to Frampton for 30+ years now, never gets old.....

Someone special just turned me back onto this one! My hero!!!
arguably one of the finest guitar songs ...this version is awesome....loved this since 76
I think what makes this song so special is his plaintive singing. He really, really understands what makes people tick.
Plus he's a great guitar player and a really nice bloke.
I just saw him and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.He is without a doubt one of the top 50 if not higher guitar players ever.
Absolutely LOVE this song! Peter Frampton was my first concert and it ROCKED!
Have always loved his music and am now enjoying his new cd!
This song saved me from deeper dispair in a very abusive relationship
I have always loved this song, what an absolutely phenomenal version! Thanks Peter!!
absolutely one of my favorite Frampton songs.....LOVE IT
One of my all time favorites!! They don't make music like this anymore and I emphasize the word music! Thanks for sharing this.
