Bjarne is the best there is; we are lucky to watch videos of his amazing skill. I have worked in wood this size, he makes it look easy. It is not simple.
I am glad the knowledge that you have regarding the problem this tree had, was thought out, how severe the circumstances can be. You really Bjarne are an Expert+++++ Tree faller. I think back on some of your partners that you help and teach along the way, if they had the task of taking this monster out, they more then likely would have had a scarier outcome. Excellent video, so glad you were safe through this fall. Awesome to see. Don't worry about the missed.😮😊
And that right there boys and girls is a perfect example of " there is no substitute for experience"! That was a spooky one Bjarne, She was talken the whole time. As always, love your vids. Stay safe, good cutting and don't get any on you!
Excellent over a hour and a quarter of falling giants with Bjarne, and what a banger of a reel it was. Gadzooks, that Cedar game down like a freight train, the creeking and groaning sure gets the blood and adrenalin a pumping. Still got the shot and you're okay is the main thing Bjarne. Cheers for a thunderous reel...
Wow Bjarne! I conceptually understood your earlier desires to avoid springboards. Now I have much better understanding of the challenges you face trying to get springboards to actually fit, and then get driven in to place. I'm tired just watching.
For your spring boards, you should put an angle brace beneath it back to the tree, use 6 inch pole barn nails to toenail the spring board at the tree, another where the brace meets the spring board, and another where the brace meets the tree.
Bjarne, Heartwood is the weakest wood you could use for a handle. What you want to use is good tight straight grain. You need hickory or ash for a good handle.
Gone are the days when the swamper would pack two springboards and the rest of the gear.steel wedges and axe.Springboard points were made by the blacksmith in the bigger camps. My old man would use his axe to snipe the ends so they fit.The ground that you work in now is crazy.so steep and treacherous.at least you had some decent weather that day.Nice job.like my dad used to say….it’s a good life if you don’t weaken😂
I'm thinking that Olympic Sprinters have NOTHING compared to a West Coast Faller when a tree shifts unexpectedly. Just a casual observation is all. Stay safe good sir! Greetings from Northern Alberta!
Bjarne could make an 8 hour video of the camera staring at a downed tree with chainsaw noises and us office bound fellas would play it all day long. Also, limb wood isn't good for handles since they are inherently made of unequal tension and compression fibers. Need a straight grain trunk wood that doesn't have heartwood.
Buddy that was a 10.0 on the pucker meter ....! That tree was a cracking and a popping and groaning the entire time almost. Thats when the little WOO WOO HAIRS ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK STAND STRAIGHT ON END .....IM GLAD YOUR OK... Just goes to show.....you never know how sideways stuff will go....till it does !
I really can't warm up to the words, "could be worse", because that's what people say when things ARE worse. But I will say, even though the ideal footage didn't happen, it's more important to realize your faller's instincts and good judgement, allowed you to skip getting pinched, or worse, getting caught up in that big wreck. Be mad, and quite unharmed.
Just imagine that happening while you were still on the springboards with the saw buried in the tree. It's a dangerous job that you do, and a testament to your skill and experience that keep surviving the 'Danger Trees' when you are tasked to fell them. When I see really scary footage on UA-cam I tell myself that if we are watching, someone had to have uploaded it, but when the screen black right after we heard you say 'Worst case scenario is happening.' I was worried for your safety regardless. I can show you the last time a video scared me that much. The drivers wee girl was in the wrecker with him when this close call happened: ua-cam.com/video/g6Hc_dtNKR8/v-deo.html
BTW there was someone in the Toyota. They need someone to put the brakes on to stop the towed vehicle hitting the wrecker on downhill bits. The person talking is Mike, and when he asked the driver, Shaun, how he felt, we got no reply. I have always suspected he was saying a prayer of thanks that he was still alive.

Can you imagine the old timers doing all that work by hand?Axes and crosscut saws steel wedges……
It really is hard to believe isn’t it and they were way bigger than these way bigger

Bravo Sir, Bravo

Not Bjarne's first rodeo , you old growth guys have allot of experience . How long did that take in real time 2 + hrs ? Thanks for taking us along.
Wow wow. Bjarne he would like a tree as big as that Lord have mercy. I’m glad you were safe because safety is more important
So the good tree that shifted, will you drop that one as well. Most foresters request that if we damage unmarked tree to go ahead and cut it.
Ho Sketch Balls!!!!
Nice call, That's experience!!!

Scary shit man!
😮😮 proses pemotongan yang sangat luar biasa 👍👍
Well, that was a crazy scenario. Bummer it quit recording, but at least you are safe. We still got a view at the end, though. Always be safe.
I'm thinking that Olympic Sprinters have NOTHING compared to a West Coast Faller when a tree shifts unexpectedly. Just a casual observation is all. Stay safe good sir! Greetings from Northern Alberta!

How many axe handles do you think you go through each year?

Just hanging off a bit of wood off the side of a mountain off the side of a behemoth unreal

CRAZY
Lucky ...again
What is that saying?
There are BOLD lumbermen
There are OLD lumbermen
There are NO Old, Bold lumbermen.
You really got the caution in the game!
Man, that blowdown also looked kinda sketchy the way that wood was slabbing off where you were walking. Glad it all worked out ok...
BIG WOOD!........................GO TRUMP GO!
He’s some trivia! How did the term schoolmarm come to be used for trees?correct answer wins my broken 404 chain
Main thing you are safe. Good call. The footage is not that important. Plus, there was the side shot of the tree falling.
At least your safe

Is it true the bigger it is the harder they fall
Scary Shit!!
so the "school marms" get to be mill able timber in their own right
FRUSTRATING WHEN IT DOESN'T GO ACCORDING TO PLAN!
Lots of adrenaline
if you would have left the camera alone we would not have missed it. You seem to do that a lot.
cut the back side out and plug cut no we’re your at
Just leave the camera alone.
Two cameras for sketchy stuff...
Not easy one
Hihihihi
