Bjarne, I'm an old retired wood cutter. I watch all your shows from my easy chair. I still wear the scars from my logging days and they have slowed me down greatly. Keep the videos coming. I loved the one of that big dead cedar that was hollow. Looked like a widow maker to me. We used to knock those down with dynamite. I worked for Crown Zellerback back then.
@@BjarneButler The biggest tree we pulled from the woods was a spruce that measured 13 ft. 9 in. on the stump and was 313 ft. tall. We loaded it on a lowboy and sent it to the New York World's Fair. I was flying two 3/4 in. chokers 25 ft. long and had to bridle hook them together to choke the log because they weretooshort the other way.
I can remember falling with my dad.logs were so big that there was only one per train car.8 footers were normal and 10 footers were mixed in there time and again.ya you’re right I’m old but not done yet.
It's always good to watch someone who's good at what they do and enjoying it. I'm in my 70's now and a bad back keeps me off the mountains I love but I enjoy the views you share. I heated with wood all my life but this year I had to switch to a heat pump... I miss the woods and cutting and hauling my firewood. I cut hardwood so nothing the size of what you cut. Best wishes for you and your new Trigvi site.
Love your vids Bjarne. Quite few people suggesting you do some with Buckin' Billy Ray Smith. Don't do it. He's got his thing going and you have yours. What makes yours special is the landscapes you work in, your skills on show at your job sites and your distinct personality. Billy Ray is a BIG personality, has his style and his own distinct non-commercial tree felling content. You do yours and leave him to do his. You dish up more than enough enjoyment without anyone else involved. The golden element that sets your vids apart is that you are almost always solo in them. Stay safe mate.
That will never happen in a million years buckin has spoken out against old growth logging and Bjarne depends on it to feed his family. It will never ever happen.
Thanks for sharing how it is on a wet cold windy day with trees that don’t want to come down easy. Not every day can have blueberries and sunshine! Best wishes to you all.
But these tree have a expiry date too, so there will be youngsters to replace them, most are on their way to a crash landing whether we help or not, so let's use them and replant them.
Hi friend another first class video that was some monster trees you are you work mate took down please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland and please stay safe. 😊
Sometimes you learn something new every day. Sometimes you learn what *not to do* every day. Glad I caught this video, since it only just now occurred to me that the 36" x 20' trunk that I'll be cutting soon _'might'_ be worth more as slabs than just cutting it up for firewood. I'll have to check into it to see if anybody in this area has any interest after I examine the wood a bit further.
Bjarne, another nice video that kept me entertained. I am a retired construction worker who should have followed your path. Be safe my friend. God bless.
What is an average pay for a feller today?? Down here in south ms I worked for 80$$ a day back in the 90s with a cat grapple skidder always close behind .. 394xp screaming and wood dropping I miss those days badly!!
Dang..that saw needs a silage wagon behind it. She throws rooster tails like its chopping corn. What saw is that? 572? Any mods or porting? Pipe? What length bar? Also, whats the black box on the top right corner of the airbox cover?
Question regarding sharpening ... Your chain cuts through most wood, like it was butter. Do you sharpen with a round file by hand or do you have some sort of 'gizmo' attachment to get the sharpness you have ?
Nice job 👍👍man. And hey i noticed when you and your partner placed the your wedges how come u didn't stack them up for extra lift just didn't think of it or is there a reason for that ?. Because in my opinion and also from my own experience and have seen on big tree's like that some would stack their wedges up for the extra lift so im just curious more than anything.
If you watch closely, they both have stacked their wedges. You can see pretty clearly at 58:55 that Bjarne’s partner takes a wedge from Bjarne and stacks it with his own.
So your job is to kill every tree in sight. I used to wonder why they were using conventional cuts and why the stumps were so high. The Humbolt cut leaves more useable lumber. But a Humbolt cut requires a professional. The stumps are crotch high for sexual reasons. First, the plunge cut with a pelvic thrust. Then the horizontal cut with the saw in their crotch.
The government scientists determine what is to be felled not the fallers. They must take in to account all future activities from planting to thinning and harvesting. Old rotten trees are a liability which can and do destroy many years of hard work and threaten everyone who works there. Leaving single trees without wind breaking companions just means they would be blown down in the next storms when they stand alone. Contrary to belief not every old tree is a nature reserve, they are just rotten cores with perhaps some timber on the outside that helps pay for the future management.
Lmaooo shame on you for buying anything or living in anything made of wood…and let me ask you what would you like to have done?… just leave them there to rot and become forest fire tinder? Or be harvested and used for things and then replanted for future use?

Hi Robert thanks for watching. You old timers sure had some nice cuttin on those valley bottoms 🤙

You are a truly lucky man !!! Never take what you do for granted .. you will miss it badly!!
Thank goodness for old Joe helping out.
Those big boys will make the ground rumble.
THAT BIG TREE WAS RELUCTANT TO FALL CAUSE IT HAD BEEN THERE FOR MANY LIFETIMES I'M SURE!

That was a lot of 'axe swing' by the two of you, but the satisfaction when it finally fell, must have felt good.
Excellent videos as always.

Agreed
But it’s up to them. Personally I’m happier without it.
Yes, two different types of blokes. Stick to your own I say

If I wanted to listen to a preacher pratttling on about shite I'd go to church not listen to Buckin's dribble.
Man, that Husky is spitting out some major beaver biscuits!!
Thanks for sharing how it is on a wet cold windy day with trees that don’t want to come down easy. Not every day can have blueberries and sunshine! Best wishes to you all.
I'm all for harvesting trees. But there will never be another one like those big one's in our life time:)
But these tree have a expiry date too, so there will be youngsters to replace them, most are on their way to a crash landing whether we help or not, so let's use them and replant them.

Great teamwork

Love that cracking sound as it starts down! Another great video, thanks for sharing.
I love watching someone that is top of his game.. absolute magician.
What a f… work, great respect for you guys, thanks Bjarne TV
That sang at the end didn't want to give up, I hope it was the end of the day !
Wow! An actual Humboldt cut! There must be professionals in the crew!
That was a tough day, sorry mate….it was a nice thing the guy came over to give you a hand….
I can remember days where I drug that 394xp to the bunching ground to tired to carry it but proud to have been in the woods doing what I did!!
Bjarne, another nice video that kept me entertained. I am a retired construction worker who should have followed your path. Be safe my friend. God bless.
I bet that smells great! I love the smell of cedar. Awesome vid Bjarne.
Great Job felling that giant Cedar Tree. looks like the center is rotting.
47:26 the look of frustration with an uncooperative tool. 😮💨 😉
Great team work at the end guys. Good job to you both. The 572 is easily becoming one of my favourite saws. Pretty impressive package
Hope they get you off those big cedars, and on smaller trees. That last one was🤢
Stay safe, and keep the videos coming 🙏
seeing this older video after having watched the newer ones shows that a long handled axe really is much better than this "little" one :)
Really can’t help to love it and can’t help but hate it at the same time
Chain saws noise cold weather make a start Drinking man that’s hard Yakka 👍
As always awesome content thanks 👍
awesome peace an love from scotland
Which saw do like better 572 or 592.Thznks gor the great videos.
I think that jack would have come in handy. Sure was a tough old soldier.
I’ve always wondered why he doesn’t use a jack sometimes.. but hey to each his own
That's the way to get it done text book cutting of the tree
Joe would have a mean punch the way he swings that axe
What is an average pay for a feller today?? Down here in south ms I worked for 80$$ a day back in the 90s with a cat grapple skidder always close behind .. 394xp screaming and wood dropping I miss those days badly!!
Man, I’d love the opportunity to fall a massive cedar like that under supervision.
Ha Haaaa. Victory ✌️ Right on Bjarne. That last tree was a mf. I will tune in next time.
Dang..that saw needs a silage wagon behind it. She throws rooster tails like its chopping corn.
What saw is that? 572?
Any mods or porting? Pipe? What length bar? Also, whats the black box on the top right corner of the airbox cover?
Those big ceders love to breaks up when they go down
Nice work
Just like cedars on Westcoast rd port Renfrew
What a good partner you have. hahaha
do you ever leave some big trees behind
Question regarding sharpening ... Your chain cuts through most wood, like it was butter. Do you sharpen with a round file by hand or do you have some sort of 'gizmo' attachment to get the sharpness you have ?
I hand file the old fashion way
Thanks you ❤❤❤
Love my 572.
Is that snow on the peak in the far distance as the camera looks at you making your back cut?
Yup
Thank you
Go Dad!!
There is no replacement!!
I found the second tree you cut down around the 20 minute area looked crazy. Was it one single tree, or multiple trees?
big that there was only one per train car.8 footers were normal
Sweet😁
AS AN OLD TIME FOREST SERVICE FALLER THE ONLY THING THIS SHOW IS MISSING IS THE TITTIES AND BEER
Awesome. 👍
Nice job 👍👍man. And

@John S ah k gotcha i missed that part then thank you.
👌👌👌👌👌👌
Bjarne do you run the 592 anymore or is it too heavy?
How many of those big cedars can you cut per day, on average?
Hours per day?
High dollar trees is that why they have u cutting them the big one's
Pohon nya besar banget , kayu nya pasti keras😮
So the goal is to cut down every tree in the area?
👍👍👍
Surgeon
U should put your GoPro on your helmet
Hey Bjarne how come you don't grow a beard? Huge tree. Timber
the 592 have problems or just don't want to lug it around?
from a previous video he did not anticipate needing it but the trees turned out larger than expected.
👋🏻
Selam turkiyeden huski candır

Tio hum over, sharo as a marble,
am I 1st >🤔🤔
Why are you cutting down such majestic specimens
if not they all eventually end up looking like the last one in the video nothing but a dead snag.

So you can build a home and have cabinets and furniture.
With a bit of luck one of those trees will fall on you, shame on you for cutting them down
Lmaooo shame on you for buying anything or living in anything made of wood…and let me ask you what would you like to have done?… just leave them there to rot and become forest fire tinder? Or be harvested and used for things and then replanted for future use?
