Lyn and Ed thanks you take us to great places we may never see - at least the props will be clean, sounds like no crunching damage or vibration afterwards - the haul out will check all that along with the cutlass bearings check for wear - I always like reading the blackboards out side the restaurants some are very creative, one I read today “we don’t have wifi we talk to one another”- Kind Regards Australia
We were lucky with that one. No damage - just clean props, and an empty wallet! We would have tried harder to get off the shoal ourselves but we had appointments to get the boat serviced and we could not afford the time to reschedule.
I just discovered you and have been binge watching your videos for the past few weeks. At the beginning of this video, I believe the boat directly in front of you when you pulled into your slip at Cape Charles was my Post 42. I've spent quite a bit of time in that marina and it is definitely shallow. Lynn has mentioned the ICW "mustache" several times. I'm sure you know this by now, but hull cleaner will remove that with no effort. Just wipe and on and rinse it off. Keep up the fun times and I hope to see you "out there" soon.
Now that is a nice long trip. We would not have the range. One of these days we will get to the Panama Canal. We still have a lot of the Caribbean to explore. If we ever get out of Philly! This virus has us grounded locally.
One of my bucket list items is to go through the Panama canal. It is super expensive though. I guess if I can afford to get there, then I'll be able to afford to go through it!
Question. Did you look at the Hatteras 58 LRC before purchasing the 58? Thinking about doing something similar. just without the great content and channel!
There were none for sale on the East Coast when I was looking. However, as much as I like them, they were more money then I was looking to spend. I might live to regret that decision. My only real complaint about my 58MY is the range. The 8v92s are overkill for what we do.
@@tryingnottosink9107 I've been thinking through it, the LRCs seem generally underpowered with the 4v71s if you needed to get somewhere or fight weather. some had the 6v71s but they are even more money. Understressed 8s probably make a lot of sense. I think what you are doing is amazing. Been following you for years, now. Safe travels.
We love Cape Charles and the Irish bar you visted. I always stay at the old marina right in the middle of town...the new marina you guys stayed at is nice but it has zero character and no action. Did you guys check out the Cape Charles brewery?...about a mile from the Shanty restaurant.
Like the new intro, and of course the fly to nav shots. Marked the shoal on my chart for that area. You'd think the marina and condo association would get that hump cleared out - would seem to hamper good paying customers from coming in (though it didn't look like it based on Lynn's walking video). You're getting closer to the 2019 homecoming ... only a few more stops to go if you hit your usual places.
Thanks. So far it seems to have gone over well. We have one more video to go before I can officially start 2020. I can't wait. It is a bit depressing, posting videos of a trip while we are stuck in port.
@@tryingnottosink9107 I know the feeling. We had to postpone our run down to Key West, but we've been doing daily runs about every week. Out, anchor, lunch, return. We'll probably run up to New Smyrna or St Augustine - but it's a bummer, because you can't go out on the town and party. We've pretty much decided it's better to 'invest' a year having as much fun as possible while being safe, to ensure a 'return' of ~25 years of healthy fun living when it's time.
Thanks for taking me away on another trip with you guys. It gets me away from everything else that is not so pleasant going on with my health issues right now. Things will get better here eventually but until then, you both are doing a great job at putting the smile back. 😎 Heart felt thank you Ed and Lyn. Maybe when things get turned around for me, I can personally thank you at one of my favorite local spots. The Chesapeake Inn. I live ten minutes away and you usually stop on your way through. Until then, Thanks for everything!!! PS. Love the new intro!!!
Thanks. We are very happy that you enjoy the videos. We were just at the Chesapeake Inn two weeks ago. We were passing through, helping a friend pick up a boat in North East Maryland. Hope to see you there one day.
OMG some loverly marinas you go too really kept nice much better than ours in the UK great Vlog missed your guys Pleased you back Mic needs sorting again thou sound was low
Very very nice job, been following for awhile, but this gives you a little more sense of you folks as human beings and not “rich Hatteras owners.” Good jobs.
Hi Ed and Lyn just saying a big hello from Paul and Shirley, we met you in the sniki tiki in siesta key a couple of years ago. Follow your travels , keep going and hopefully see you down the key sometime.
Hi Paul and Shirley! We remember you guys. It has been a while since we have been back to Siesta Key. Hopefully some time this year. We have friends that live there and we haven't visited in a while.

Hay kids!!!! I talked once to you. You said you don't have a bow thruster, but you do have one. It was on the video when you first bought it on blocks. GOD BLESS, HAVE FUN!!!!!
Well no, no you weren't. You were in Kings Creek, which is a half mile north of Cape Charles harbor. Kings Creek is always a problem for deep draft boats. In the past, when there were no marinas in Cape Charles harbor, Kings Creek was the only choice. There are now some nice marinas in Cape Charles harbor with very good (deep) water. In the past, I've gotten my 6.5 draft boat into Kings Creek, but bottomed a few times. I always approached up the Cape Charles channel then cut up to Kings Creek channel. It's a high tide approach nevertheless.
Thanks for the correction. It was the first time that we went to town and saw the other marinas. King's Creek is very nice but it is a pain to get in for someone who is not familiar with the entry. We will likely stay in Cape Charles next time.
I like the new intro as well.....Lynn looks great and I like more good shots of the yacht, I liked the song can't you just have it on low in the background? good job have fun
Don’t you hate it when that happens. Great work getting off the shoal. We were running low on fuel and it was getting dark on the Erie canal the way up to Onondaga lake. Had to pull into a small marina with a little stream leading into it. Drug our bottom all the way in to The docks. We were not aware that the marina only serviced smaller boats. Got a cab to a restaurant and in the morning drug our bottom all the way out of the marina again.
Beautiful video! The hyperlapse was great and you really improved on your shots with Google Eartch (zooming in and moving). I'm sure others will feel the same way when I say I want to hitch a ride with you!
Thanks a lot! We are just experimenting with Google Earth video but like it so far. I need to find a way to combine it with the maps and hyperlapse so it is not so redundant.
Have you thought about synchronizing the depth to your bottom, so it would read exactly what you want it to read? I have always zeroed the depth to the bottom, so I know exactly how much water I have below the boat. Some prefer to read actual depth over zeroing .
