I have only just recently started to do the cross stitch with the coloured printed on it it's really good but I am a cross stitcher who likes a blank canvas and the picture appears as you sew the colours and you watch the picture develop ❤
I love doing cross stitch but most of the time, I do counted cross stitch. Although an embroidery hoop or frame is not necessary, I still prefer to use a frame so that it helps keep the stitches even. The most tedious part of cross stitch for me is the backstitching.
I'm a crafter who does all sorts of crafts including cross stitch. The image you chose was the type i like and it reminded me of an embroidery I did as as girl. It had a lady in a crinoline/hooped skirt with a parasol, still remember it fondly. (I'm in my 80th. year) What did surprise me was the Kit and especially the fabric ready printed with the picture. I would never do one of these because it is too pre-set (almost like painting by numbers) . I really like the task of counting and finding the space for each stitch. I can see that these type of kits would be good for new cross stitchers though. Enjoyed watching you. Thank you.Craftyv.
I love cross stitch and I am two minutes into this video and already in fear because wowie, that's a HUGE pattern to start with for your first project! I've actually been working on a different (smaller) one from the company for a few months now and still am not done. I do agree that their kits are pretty nice!
If you are an avid crafter, often you'll have no trouble picking up a big kit of a craft you are new to. I just call it the gay/ADHD audacity to think I can make whatever I want despite having no previous experience in such craft.
I've been doing counted cross stitch for 40 years, with a couple of pieces in the *old* style of stamped cross stitch (where it's just X's printed on the cotton). I love this new style! I still have a giant counted cross stitch tapestry waiting to be finished, but might need to check these out.
I normally start with 1 and then move on. I used to do it color based (I would do pretty colors first) but decided a few patterns ago to go with 1 and go through.
Thank you so much for this @TheStitchery! I just bought a kit from Cukol cross stitch having never cross-stitched before, this guide had everything I needed to get going =D Thank you!
I do a lot of cross stitching but I prefer counted cross stitch because I don't think I've ever had a positive experience with printed patterns, though I think they were all from the same company so maybe not all hope is lost. While a hoop is not _necessary_ I really do prefer to use it, as it's just easier to stitch and the crosses turn out nicer. Also it's ususally a good idea to secure the edges of your canvas because aidas fray like crazy
Thanks for sharing! I'll be trying out cross stitch, but after we move this summer. If I like it, I'm gonna wanna buy a bunch of stuff & we have enough to pack as is! 😆 The picture reference guide looks just like diamond painting, which is one of the many hobbies I enjoy. I bookmarked their site to go back to after we've settled in. Thanks!
It's funny, I've done counted cross stitch since I was 12 or 13, and I don't think I'd be able to do a stamped kit that was that busy. My eyes would definitely get confused. And I don't know if it helps anyone understand, but cross stitch is a form of embroidery (which is essentially just making art on fabric with a needle and thread) but it's so specific in the way it makes a pixelated image that it's widely considered its own craft. It often uses other embroidery techniques like backstitching and french knots.
Same! I learned how to do counted cross stitch as a child and it’s all I know how to do. My mother in law got me a beautiful stamped cross stitch for Christmas last year and when I opened it up to do it, it was super busy like this one and I was so overwhelmed by it. I’m saving it for when I feel more brave! For now, I’ll stick to counting stitches ☺️
I've had kinda mixed feelings about those colour printed canvas in the past because those that I've had were printed in colours very similar to the intended. I have a lot of trouble distinguishing similar shades, so I remember thinking many times that having the guide very different would be so helpful, and here it is! Been using patterns on blank canvas since but I might give these another shot if I find this kind haha.
The very different colors on the pattern confused me for a moment, but yeah, once I realized why they made it that way, it made total sense! Saves your eyes some aching for sure!
You might want to try stamped cross stitch kits, they are very easy to work with. Maydear provides various pre-printed cross stitch kits that are friendly to beginners.
Now try counted cross stitching lol I've been working on a Van Gogh one for like five months... and I'm only a little over 1/4 of the way done lol. xD I'm now working on a smaller project to have break from it.
@@gettheetothestitchery Indeed, especially when you mess up counting and have to either stitch over or tear out your stiches! >< But I love it all the same, it helps me remember to slow down in life ^_^
Don’t forget! Each X had a bottom stitch and a top stitch, and the directions of these shouldn’t change! If you stitch / first then back over it. This helps your eyes see the picture as a whole, not as stitches. :)
I cross stitch for fun and I usually do one color at a time. I do way better on the pattern ones (the one with the patterns on it) and I have been having a blast.
Hello I'm a beginner so will U be able to slow the video down on next round? Will U show how to thread the needle and how to start? Thanks for stitchin
Hi! I actually have a couple videos that show you how to get started with embroidery, and those same practices will apply to cross stitch as well. Check out these for more help: ua-cam.com/video/EwDmXbZJ9QI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/c9JblTcRgjI/v-deo.html
1:02 they put "embroidery design" which doesn't help beginners' confusion when trying to learn the distinction between cross stitching and hand embroidery
Hello there. :-) Just want to say thank you for the video you made and i learned a lot. I just bought a big set like this and there it say it is 11CT 3 strand.. this is my very first time i try this and i got a bit confused.. does this mean that i should use 3 strands of thread? . Wish you all the best and i will subscribe you and click on the bell.. have so much to learn.. hehe :-)
As someone who did counted cross-stitch for many years, I do not like that printed cloth -- it obscures where you've already stitched and is an unnecessary (and highly confusing) gimmick. Especially when it comes with a pattern anyway. Just get normal Aida and count.
It's good for people who do cross stitch while watching tv or something, since you don't have to look at a pattern constantly. I also prefer counted but I understand the appeal of stamped. Though the fabric is usually oddly textured and I get what you mean about obscuring the stiches.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'll have to try counted cross stitch soon - it definitely takes a lot more concentration I think!

These big pieces are definitely quite a time commitment!
It is not that bad i have done this before. All what you have to do is to watch out for the symbles and do one at a time.
If you are an avid crafter, often you'll have no trouble picking up a big kit of a craft you are new to. I just call it the gay/ADHD audacity to think I can make whatever I want despite having no previous experience in such craft.
I thought I ordered a large picture to hang, but found out that it's a large DIY cross stitching craft, so here I am 😆
I've been doing counted cross stitch for 40 years, with a couple of pieces in the *old* style of stamped cross stitch (where it's just X's printed on the cotton). I love this new style! I still have a giant counted cross stitch tapestry waiting to be finished, but might need to check these out.
I discovered Stamped Cross Stitch a year ago and decided to try it. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
I have been watching these videos for hours and yours so far is the best for a beginner.
Thank you so much!

Thanks you are a good instructor!
Oh, and the back of my patterns always looked neat with no hanging floss and no tied knots.
Thank youyuu🎉
I was scrolling through and saw your thumbnail and was like “hummmm” 3 min later I realized that’s the exact one I am working on right now lol
Nice! It's a good one!

Even if the fabric is thick, I find it really easier with a hoop or a frame.
Same! I ended up framing this for the majority of sewing.
I love the cross stich the only thing it's that mine will take 2 years and I asking will I sew less because of it?
I learned how to cross stitch when I was about 26 by a friend. I only ever did counted cross stitch, I always thought the printed one was cheating.
Thanks for sharing! I'll be trying out cross stitch, but after we move this summer. Oo I feel you there - never want to add more stuff to the pile before boxing it all up!

I was definitely getting a little cross-eyed on this one!

Interesting.... I've done a lot of counted cross stitch but never this type. Very pretty.

Cross stitch is a type of embroidery. ie all cross stitch is embroidery but not all embroidery is cross stitch.
Now try counted cross stitching lol I've been working on a Van Gogh one for like five months... and I'm only a little over 1/4 of the way done lol. xD I'm now working on a smaller project to have break from it.
Oh goodness, I'll have to do it someday, but I will need a lot more skills and patience first!

My heart... The hoop! Where's the hoop?! Lol

look up a loop start for cross stitch. it leads to a neater back and is so much easier
In case the dog decides he likes thread as a snack 😂😂😂. Thanks for the video. Learned alot
I'm so glad you liked it!
In my language we just call it “cross stitch embroidery” 😅
The link to the website isn't working.
That was a super busy easy kit
Can i use a scrolling frame or qsnaps with this
Absolutely! I put it in a Q-snap frame for some of the stitching just to make it easier to hold.
1:02 they put "embroidery design" which doesn't help beginners' confusion when trying to learn the distinction between cross stitching and hand embroidery
Very helpful,Thank you .
Can you use a hoop or frame with these or will it cause the ink to come off?
You definitely can, it won't cause any damage!
Hello there. :-) Just want to say thank you for the video you made and i learned a lot. Hello and welcome! As far as I know, that does mean to use 3 strands, so you would split your floss in half before stitching. Best of luck!
I want this
how much
❤them
Uhhh sorry to tell you but cross stich is a type of embroidery. Other than that love the video!
Informative video, however she is on full speed !
talks to fast and shows symbols and products WAY to fast!

Slow down. You’re talking to beginners. It’s A-da, not I-E-da. Also, no knots! Has no one taught you the loop start method??
Video playback controls allow people to slow her down if need be. Comments ordering creators to change how they speak will never not be rude
You can be as rude as you want; your jealousy will not go away.
