Thanks for your great suggestions and your kind and simple way of explaining. Could you please tell us something more specific on the right embochure pls?
Taw eee has always been what I’ve used to think about slurs but when it comes to range I always hit a wall at some point. Because if you slur from C to E using taw eee, then your mouth is already in the eee position and in order to get to the G above the E, you have no way to move your mouth to a “more” eee position. Does that make sense? How do you get to the next higher partial if your mouth/tongue is already arched or anchored as much as possible?
Oh I understand what you’re going through here…. But I’ve come to realise myself that when you hit a wall on your Eee or yii while increasing range, it just means your embouchure is worn out, it could even be that you’re putting so much mouth pressure on your mouthpiece and that there’s not enough blood flow to your lips to make them vibrate to produce sound…. So basically if you’re practicing range building, you need extreme concentration on the discipline of your embouchure. This also means you’re going to practice for a shorter time than usual on such days, the embouchure can easily get tired quickly. You will need a 1 to 2 minutes rest every time you knock that wall on your high notes. I hope this is going to help you. Happy practicing🙏🏾🤗
i can play great pedal C, i can do pitch bend on all notes below C5, I can play high C too, but I got lots of lip pressure when going above high C (highest I can go is G6, but really really tight and not usable), I did try to shape my tongue higher, air stream faster and more focus , but still doesn't work, any tips for that?
I had the same issue on my horn and didn’t care at first cause I wasn’t using all that high range in my gig playing but when I needed it I came to realize that when practicing high notes, you have to rest nearly twice as much as you play…. It’s good you have the discipline, keep to that but remember rest is one of the major factors that’s going to help you improve your range day by day…
Some times all you even need is just one day off the horn then come back the next day when you’re fresh and try increasing that range again…. Please tell me the results of this…. 🙏🏾
You are doing good. Keep it up!
Thank you #trumpetsizzle 🙏🏾 you’ve got some really great lessons to that I really love… 👍🏽
