    I started playing it a few weeks ago, after putting it down a month or two after launch. It is a really good game, and it blew me away how much it changed.
    The main negatives I have with the game however is that the first 3 hours are a little dull, and the main quest lines aren’t amazing, and I tend to do my own thing instead of following them.
    But it’s a good game, with a lot more do to and discover in it. Like one instance I can recall is I was warping between planets and I got a distress call. This led me to an abandoned ship in space, which prompted me to follow coordinates. This in turn led to 4-5 hours of content of me zipping to different systems, doing jobs for different characters, on a huge journey which has is still ongoing. It’s currently led me to a system that is overridden by pirates and is offering me to do some jobs on the black market.
    Started to ramble there but yeah, it’s a pretty decent game.
    And I’ve put about 20 hours into the game and I’ve got pretty far into all the interesting stuff, probs got into it around hour 14. It did help however that I found a freighter being attacked by pirates and defended it, and then was able to buy it for free.

    I've put a lot of hours into this game, it is amazing. I would suggest playing the story until at least the Anomaly. The reason it is said it can take a lot of hours to get started is due to the currency system. With the newest update, you can make everything purchaseable, free (it's a setting before starting the game). Once you get through the tutorial, the game really opens up.

      Facts. I’ve visited this game over & over since 2020 & the beginning always took hours because of the currency system. But now that u have the option to pretty much have unlimited recourses the game opens wide up where u can pretty much do anything

      That is not true anymore 😅 the game has now a difficulty setting which you can change to the point where you don't need resources to build or buy. For people who just want to play and don't grind for material.

    I've been playing on and off for the last two years or so and am about 125 hours in on my primary character and I'd agree that it's much better now than it was years ago. I highly recommend playing with at least one other person because the game does feel very lonely and can get a little stale after awhile.

    I play this game a lot. I have over 41 hours but I am only getting started. Please believe me you have to try it out. You can change the difficulty setting to where you don't die or need resources to build or money to buy. If you really don't like grinding for resources you can ignore it and change your difficulty to build for free.

    I started a game on Relaxed settings, no cost for crafting, so no resource gathering for anything but money. IT CHANGED EVERYTHING. Crank up the enemy threat level to make it more of an action explorer. Now I’m rocketing along through the galaxy, saving and raiding everything I can find to save up for my first freighter. Then - the universe…

    • @billywashere6965
      @billywashere6965 Рік тому

      From my experience (and maybe this is just me) Star Citizen doesn't require any commitments right now. You can hop in and just do any of the game loops even as a newbie. For No Man's Sky, getting off that first toxic planet took me hours of grinding to get all the necessary equipment, and I died a lot because the resources were limited. So that was definitely frustrating. But after getting off that first planet, majority of the exprience is resource gathering until you can start building your own equipment and bases and exploring the unvierse on your own time.

If we consider react content fair use, then I don’t see how it’s any different than using a small clip from another video, but excluding the ads on said video (essentially every video on UA-cam falls into that category).

      That's not the argument here.
      I'm strictly talking about lost revenue.
      Essentially, that video did eventually reach over 10k people, but none of them got to see the ads, so the original creator got nothing in return by Luke using his video on his stream.
      My stance on react content is if you want to show it on stream, fine, but add your input on it and at least play the in-video ads which could be sponsors.
      Why? Because creators on UA-cam rely on these videos to make a living. This isn't some Meme page on facebook, it's content that was worked hard on and designed to earn cash, hence the adverts and sponsors.

    I found it really hard to continue playing. It feels like theres an overwhelming amount of things in the game which is great, but the core of the game is still the same Minecraft type crafting and collecting resources system. My biggest issue with this is all the planets and the universe feels incredibly lifeless despite having so much going on. It's due to the game being entirely procedurally generated. Even the quests feel like lines of code rather than something hand crafted. It all begins to feel like you are literally in a simulation rather than a game, theres so much to interact with but nothing actually enhances your experience

    Downvoted for calling No Man's Sky a junk food game. I've played a lot of RPGs and ARPGs and honestly I've spent more time thinking about NMS, planning the proper sequence of things to do, where and how to get stuff to allow me to progress and develop my character, starship, multitools, etc. than any of them except for POE (although in that case it's mostly because a lot of the interactions are quite opaque). The level of min-maxing you can do in NMS is ridiculous at the top end but at the same time you can just chill out on a planet and just mine and scan the flora/fauna/minerals for your collections tab or maybe build a base there, adopt some pets, build a mining/gas factory, etc. Or you can go hard on exterminating the sentinels and salvaging or building up their sexy ships and multitools (which are some of the best in the game). Then there's also getting a good freighter and assembling your own fleet of ships that you send on missions and level up (as well as building an entire mobile base on your freighter). One other thing I'm doing is managing a settlement and developing it from disaster area to booming economy (fun passive minigame while you explore), also getting max rank with all of the guilds by doing missions for them (some sweet rewards there at high status levels) and you can also run multiplayer missions at the Nexus. Also from time to time expeditions when they're ongoing (haven't experienced those yet, though).

    I've put a lot of time into NMS, the main reason why is bc I knew basically nothing about the game. All I knew was that it was worth a second look. The whole game is shrouded in mystery and discovery and it kind of settles at the 30 hour mark where you feel at ease within the game and more apart of it than an outsider exploring even though you'll always be a traveler. Discovering things has never been more fun in a game to me, you feel like a mechanic everytime you work on your ship and vehicles, as far as mining and big resource refining I haven't needed a lot of that stuff bc I have a big ass fleet that brings it to me. You can really make the experience you're own

    I have nearly 50 hours in NMS and I really enjoy it so far. I bought the game on Playstation back when it first launched, and I was insanely disappointed. I purchased the game again in 2018 on PC and enjoyed it much more, but the game was still a little bland. But over the past few years the game has gotten MUCH, MUCH better.

    No Man's Sky is a great expansive game. I am making this comment without having played it and just from watching videos and past experience on open world games. I think the exploration and openness is its initial give to the players and just like others in genres it gives a whole different experience and new world. I can see this becoming either Minecraft/Terraria base games or like Genshin Impact/BOTW/Subnautica.
    In Minecraft/Terraria type of open worlds where through exploration you find strong enemies and good treasure maybe even bosses. If you don't open wikis its in your hands to find this out.
    That is why in Minecraft I wish they alluded more on the presence of the ender dragon, wither and even making the nether because how would you know about them which in contrast to Terraria that gives more hints to bigger bad bosses thanks to the Guide NPC. No Man's Sky would benefit if they could make some present civilizations on the planet or ruins/ records that would imply of previous civilizations to give the world more life and not just animals.
    For open world such as Genshin/ BOTW and Subnautica, they have multiple questlines and/or stories to tell. This also support the fact that these games have so much life or ruins, records to tell. A compelling story would give some more memorable stuff to the game and even memorable characters. I know its randomly generated but let us be realistic of they want to tell a story some has to be fixed content to an extent and probably only vary on how far you are to that specific planet. That will serve a good story which you can do anytime.
    That being said I would also like to add the general trailblaze quest of Honkai Star Rail's trailblazers. They travel world to world to explore, understand, establish and connect. That is what I think and hope No Man Sky should evolve to be further down the line. The game still has a lot to give, show and improve on.
    P.S. Thanks for the great critics and content as always Luke.

    rapidly approaching 90 hours into this game! Bought it at launch and was quite disappointed. The foundation was there, though, and since they've added all the new content, it's a top 10 game for me. As far as space exploration games go, it's the best game on the market. Even almost 90 hours in, the level of depth continues to amaze me. I am just now getting my freighter to where I want it, and there's still so much left do to with it. Also, the freighter battles they added are fantastic! Derelict freighters are meh, but the payout can be worth it if you're low on supplies.

    It's amazing how far No Man's Sky has come, but unfortunately it seems to me from personal experience and seeing this here that the major core of the game is still the same as it was in 2016. I kind of wished I was back to pre-launch day where I thought it was going to be a fun sciency exploration adventure where you ultimately go to the Center of the Galaxy. But it's basically sci-fi Minecraft but not as fun for me. I usually just jump on Creative Mode, get bored, and then delete the game and wait for another 2yrs.

    While waiting on Starfield i tried No Mans Sky since that was a game people were comparing to & I had never played a game from Starfields company...I almost was about to like it, but I got pissed b/c the tutorial (if u wanna call it that) was dumb asf!! They didn't give a new player time to learn what is what. What pissed me off is me dying b/c it was too cold...U dont throw a new player into something like that where u dont even know what material is what. I found the material the 1st time, found the stuff for my health 1st, went through all that getting material to my ship & once again in the 1st 30-45 minutes I got cold once again, & after that i said fuck it & uninstalled...I already had to go find the materials for the shit, a second material for my health, etc. LET a person learn what is what b4 u start killing them kuz they cant find the material over & over to keep from freezing, & I had to walk everywhere. So i gotta walk to find different materials for the ship, keep from getting frozen to death, then make it back to the ship...That was so stupid to not allow a person to figure out wtf is goin on b4 u kill them. It wouldve made more sense to put a person on a planet that they can learn without rushing. I was excited about Starfield until this. Soon as i saw a video of people mining is Starfield I said "Hell No!! I'll try it just to try it, but wont be playing it"...But i actually like Starfield after playing it

    U can enjoy some of the new part of contents even almost at the start at this point, becouse some of them is planet related, it depend form where u randomly start and u can enjoy the new stuff alot less 20 hours even 8 hours or less it depend from the resources of yours starting system. Last thing, many game with bad launch cannot have the same redemption arc of no man sky for a simply reason No Man's sky promised to the player at launch a thing like a 30 floor high skyscraper but only 5 floor where build at launch, other games instead they offer you also 30 floor building they made 25 of them but 20 of those are made in a messy way and wooden parts are completely rotten and in order to fix the crap u need to destroy all the bad stuff and then after rebuild. So improve nms was waaaay easier simply becouse was empity.

    • @billywashere6965
      @billywashere6965 Рік тому +1

      Yeah that's a good way of describing it. No Man's Sky promised a lot but launched more empty than broken (though it was still plenty broken). Games like Cyberpunk 2077 promised A LOT but didn't even have the foundational tech in place to bring much of that stuff to life (and even now stuff like police AI are still not present). No Man's Sky had a good foundation, but it was bereft of content, which they quickly rectified over the years. Not every broken game at launch is capable of doing that.
