Kubota giving out a passionate love letter to DB fans old and new with that amazing introduction! I wouldn't mind if he directed a remake of the anime with that style.
Yes he said it so perfectly the old style with a blend of more modern camera work art and animations. Idk if it would be an unpopular opinion but I am a big fan of the original dragon ball, it has some of the best fight scenes in the series especially in terms of choreography. On UA-cam you can find some of the best scenes from dragon ball z if you type “ the good part “ after the fight you want to see. Cell vs Goku being a great example. But what many don’t realize the good part fight scenes in Z is like the majority of a lot of fight scenes in the original dragon ball I think the choreography for some of the fights in dragon ball might be better then some in Z. So I’d love to see the series redone in a modern style such as the one in that opening animation for the new movie. I think it would be out of this world and a great way to bring dragon ball the original series to a lot of modern fans. Especially with the obsession this generation has with art and animation, if the art an animation isn’t up to snuff many want even check out a series . But I think it would just be incredible to see in general , many of the classic fights with the enhance art animation and camera work plus a big possible of removing a good amount of filler . Although there are some I’d like to keep , but regardless I’d give anything to see that..
Seeing this animation (especially the dragon ball portion) brings a tear to my eye, I can't begin to admire the part where Goku is dodging missiles and can only imagine how difficult it was to animate that section. The little details and frames of animation really sell this and my favorite aspect of this is the fact that especially during the dragon ball portion, the artstyle actually looks like OG Dragonball, a little gripe I had with GT and even Super and Super Broly was that whenever kid Goku was redrawn, it was in a way that made his proportions look more like Goten rather than Kid Goku, baby Goku in dbs broly almost looked the exact same size as Goku when we first see him in Dragon ball and while none of the art is bad it does throw me off everytime I see it so I'm glad the artstyle is kept in check for this animation.
What if they will animate dragon ball super like this? Just a recap episode like for example Vegito vs zamasu recap Goku vs jiren recap IT WOULD BE AWSOME! But too sad they don't have enough budget for this right now 🥺🥺
A whole remake of DB + DBZ in a series simply called ''Dragon Ball'' (like the manga) would be so damn good. Imagine a whole remake with this style and this level of quality. The original japanese Dragonball OST was sooo perfect. That soundtrack with the original sound effects with this exact animation style (with the proper saturation) would bring me so much joy.
Honestly when I first saw this clip, I was blown away by its quality and its faithfulness in depicting the different Dragon Ball eras and their respective styles. And while I think it would've been cool if the whole movie was 2D in a similar fashion, I can understand that it's precisely because it's such a short segment that they could afford to make it _this_ detailed. Though in all honestly they probably could've afforded to make the movie fully in 2D like this, but it seems like they really wanted to prioritize lesser production times in that regard :/
It's amazing aye, although it was more so that Toei specifically wanted to create a CG film this time around, not for a lack of funds, staff, or even time considering pre-production began in 2017. Kozou Morishita (Toei producer on DB, DBZ, GT and Super) expressed the desire to create a full CG film back in 2015 and it seems several other staff had that same desire.

@@forgottenrelics1197 okay thankyou, I will take a look
Edit: bro I saw already the trailer 😂
Imagine if the whole movie looked like this 😔 *sigh*
It really looks beautiful and manga accurate to an extent.
Fr i wish it was😭😭😭
i wonder how easy it would be to make a whole series like this because honestly i might even prefer it to shintani's stuff as awesome as that is, i love how ripped from the manga it feels while also being so kinetic and alive
I'm not a big fan of the new villain form in the movie, but we all know that is Toriyama's favorite form. And yes, the other new transformation the "Big Orange Green" it's ok.
Ehh, be grateful at least, that Piccolo finally got a new power up, after 30 years lol
Bruh when super comes back i need it to be animated like this 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Quick with it I see
Such a great intro, everything is just so well put together. It almost feels like a remaster of the original anime
What is there to say? It's epic! But it's frustrating to see them aknowledge the old styles and use them at the perfect times, yet now we have this CG movie... We can only hope that when the Super anime returns they take that approach into serious consideration, so that we don't have DBS's issues all over again with the bad character design, colour pallets, bland framing etc.
The intro was seriously 2d? Some of the stuff in there is clearly 2d, but others look blatantly 3d like certain shots with Cell. It all looks incredible and I don't know the key artist's record, but if it's actually 2d and he makes it look like THAT to where it looks 3d...well, my mind is plastered on the wall because it is blown
Awesome
I loved it
3:02 Where is that 2000s re-animation by masahiro shimanuki from? I never seen that clip before.
Heya, it's from the intro cutscene to Dragon Ball Sagas for ps2!
Imagine MUI Goku with his staff using it like Merus.
0:35 I think that spin shot of Imperfect Cell was CGI but used 2D animation over it.
Someone ask toei to make a reboot using the intro style
This is better than the whole movie
itano circus in dragon ball...
never thought i'd see the day
Wonder if he or Takahashi will be the new CD
IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL
We need dragon ball remaster as a Kai with this animation
Please do another Toyotaro video
he's too Good compared to his old chapters
especially Ch.66 and Ch.76
and the new volumes too
Nah, his new stuff, is miles better than his old chapters in Super.
looking forward for super dragon ball heroes animation breakdown part 2 and Naruto videos and many more
the heroes one might be a while off but yeah the naruto one will drop next week (unless something else db related comes out)
Bruh, Good 2D are WAAAAAAYY better than good 3d
Chikashi Kubota has a beautiful eye for animation and wonderful way of introducing the film! Truly a fan that got the opportunity to shine! You won't believe how many people thought this sequence was CG and go on and on about it!
Fire animation
5:15 that's really a big stretch right there
But Great video overall
