  • Harold is a Little owl (owlet) that we found dying of cold in our wedding venue barn after having fallen from his nest at about 2-3 days hatched. The chance of his survival seemed slim. He was hardly moving and was cold to the core but after taking him inside the house and warming his cold body in my hands for 45 minutes Harold gradually became more active. When we couldn't find where he had come from I decided to research caring for him so that I could release him once he was able to take care of himself. A few weeks after we found Harold we stumbled across Maude. She had also had the misfortune of falling from the mystery nest!(clearly a badly choice of nesting site)
Now released, the owls both live in the garden outside our house. They are completely independent despite being imprinted by humans. We hear them every night talking to each other which lets us know that they happy and alright.
I feel very lucky to have been able to help them.
I do not own the copyright for the music in this video.
(I would never advise anyone to take on an owl as a pet. They are wild creatures and there instinct is to behave as such)

Great job ! At least in the avian world, rarely will you fine anything as cute and personable as a baby owl. They act like a puppy, taking interest in any and all, household items. I've raised several, just as you did here, and also set them free in the back yard. Some stayed longer than others but eventually the left. Recently I came across a fledgling barred owl, I know it was the correct thing to leave it as it' s the way they grow and develop. But boy was I tempted to bring it home....

Hey you done an awesone job 👍
I'm also rearing a very similar owl. Found him 3 weeks back with broken leg. Now leg is all healed and he has started to take short flights. Need ur guidance in preaparing him for wild before releasing him.
    Best regards

Very cute and curious owlets. Would have been nice to hear the original audio for the clips you used after the music stopped.

he is the sweetest! thanks so much for loving him and caring for him. I'm sure if you hadn't rescued him he would have died, cold and quiet. :(

That was so touching! I don't know if I'd be able to let them go free, even if it IS the right thing to do!

They are darling. Thank you for helping them. I believe humans have a responsibility to intervene in these situations. Question: How did you keep him warm when he was that teeny? Did you put something under those tissues etc.?? Also, what kind of owl are they? Also, where are you located here? God bless.

Like your vid though and how you raised them to grow up nice and healthy , wished i saw more owls about in wild near me I'm fascinated by them . All they keep doing around here is knocking up new homes etc pushing our wildlife further away with less resources 😟

Hi can you add a video of them living now free if you regularly see them ? I've always thought once they have been imprinted by humans it would put them at danger living in the wild etc ?

The first music that I hear in your lovely video is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World. Sigur Rós does not sing this, nor is it his accent--but I believe the second music is his. Perhaps you'd like to correct the music attribution.
