Actually, it makes sense that Will goes back to his younger self once K gets his memories back. A lot of people begin acting like their old selves when they get around their original trainer/master/parent. Also, the reason K calls Laura "baby" is because it's hinted that he is her biological father.
Thanks for beating me to it. I honestly wasn't sure if I even remembered that right or not. Still kind of weird for Tommy Lee Jones to say "baby" in any context but at least there is some reason...
And about the pizza place scene, to me it always felt more like J was trying to show off to his mentor and prove that he had grown and was as good as his mentor. This was why he tried to find these obscure clues and signs rather than look for the simple and obvious.
It's a phenomenon called "personality regression", and it can happen around anyone from your past whom you haven't seen in a long time. That's one of the reasons recovering addicts are encouraged to not reconnect with old friends and acquaintances that they got drunk or high with as the phenomenon often leads to relapsing into addiction.
“It rains because you’re sad, baby.” I always assumed that was a subtle implication that K was actually her father, but wasn’t ready to admit it yet, and that they had planned on getting to that in the next sequel. (They do establish that K and Laura’s mother had kind of a thing…)
Came down here looking for this, I think its obvious because the alien who dies at the restaurant is taking care of Laura, she says "A man I've known my whole life vanished in front of my eyes...", It was also K's friend (Hinted by the picture at the restaurant) and then theres K's romance and that "baby" line. K didnt want to send his own daughter away so he left her on earth and then neuralized himself to avoid the temptation of seeing her and put her in danger leaving clues for himself at the same time in case the evil plant lady came back.
The reason K called Laura “baby” was because the movie implied she is his daughter and her mother was the Zarthan queen Luarana. As a side note, if Laura really was K’s daughter, then that means he’s had a thing with three women in as many movies.
"Do you think Tommy Lee Jones can kick your ass". With how much J gets thrown around in these movies and the fact that K literally jumped kicked an alien in the most unusual way...yes
I love how the Nostalgia Critic has very reasonable opinions, as most movies are not truly 'bad', they're just mediocre or forgettable; a very honest reviewer.

@@WilliamMcFarlandVideo It would show a sense of irony and depth, if it rains when she is sad but in a scene she says happy when it is raining then that'd mean she's lying about her happiness. It would give her a character moment of subtlety and depth.

Honestly I also hate the whole “greatest this person there ever was” thing you sometimes see in detective crime shows and movies and others like it, though some can be guilty pleasures but this movie was just not one of them.
I could kind of understand that if it were done by people comparing Agent J's performance to Agent K's......though I don't think that would work well with the rest of the film.
It was addressed in the first movie, as somebody who left eveything for the organization, also you can see how even their boss is not as a serious dedicated man as him, ig there is a movie for this, i guess tommy lee's character fits well
I know a lot of people criticise how the MIB would hire people like Warburton's character who are genuinely stupid and unprofessional. I always thought the joke was was that Will Smith selected people like him because he wanted to be the smart one of the two, so he needed to actively look for people stupider than he was.
I always considered the Men in Black trilogy to be pretty good. Yes MIB 2 was the weak one, but K losing his memory was a nice touch. Josh brolin in MIB 3 killed it though
The "Don't touch that!" feels almost like an homage to the animated series, where K touches a mind augmenting relic, which makes him super smart, but will also cause his head to eventually explode. So the last thing he does before death, is use a time machine to yell at himself, "Don't touch that!".
This movie for all the things wrong with it is still hilarious. There's so many times I just couldn't stop laughing when I first saw this. The locker aliens, the blue globe, the rant J goes on to the train passengers. Just damn are those moments funny.

Isn't that basically Men in Black the animated series though. Ironically, I always feel like 2 and 3 are spinoffs/sequel hybrids of the first one more than the animated series because the trilogy (and MIB International) as a whole kinda feels a bit disconnected plotwise
I can just see it, Doug's on his computer trying to come up with a good script when he hears the doorbell. Two guys in black are at the door, one neutralizes him while the other deletes his script and replaces it with the MIB2 title. The story one says is, "You're not reviewing Cats, that's a piece of shit movie, instead, you're going to review Men in Black 2"
The novelization is better than the film. I like that Jay isn’t dumb, he’s overcompensating to impress Kay…who doesn’t care. And in the novel the girl isn’t The Light, it’s her necklace so she can stick around as an agent.
Well he did love her mother and might have started to fall into the role of her father, doesn't mean he is, but it does insinuate he has that connection. Sadly, as NC pointed out, it can come across as creepy as the movie might not have done well in covering the relationship, so many won't see or feel that he has any father-daughter relationship going
I'll never forget my experience with this. When MIB 1 came out, I was 10 and my mom worked at a movie theater, so I watched it a ton! When I heard about the sequel coming out, 5 years later, I was ecstatic. The hype was real, and I couldn't wait. Saw it opening day and.... was SO disappointed. Two weeks later, someone gave me a free ticket to watch it again. I said to myself, why not, it's free. But went in expecting absolute shit. But I found myself.... Really enjoying it. Still nowhere near as good as the first but, it was still funny! Now to this day, I call it the "Men In Black 2 Syndrome". If you're hyped about something too much, you might not be able to enjoy it for what it is.
They imply that Laura is the love child of Kay and the alien princess chick, so when he calls her "baby" it comes across more affectionate than creepy.
I honestly never found that line creepy. I know that Kay wasn't hitting on her or anything even when I was a kid. I assumed at the time he was just being kind and protective. I eventually made the connection that she is probably his kid years later which just made the scene better in that context.
The only thing I will remember about this movie:The fact that the main villain was a sexy alien villainess but sadly had the personality of a brick wall.
From IMDB: Famke Janssen was originally cast as Serleena and completed some scenes before dropping out due to a death in the family, with the role subsequently recast with Lara Flynn Boyle. -Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez and Yeardley Smith originally auditioned for the part of Serleena.
The scene that launched *way too many* fetishes. Really would have been a perfect moment for his "Fe-tish Mo-vie" line but I guess since it was so close to the opening that the UA-cam bots may have axed the video so I can see him having restraint.
I've never heard anyone complain about this movie? I didn't know it was considered bad. I heard more people complaining about the 3rd one, which I absolutely adored. As for this one... I haven't seen the newest, so this is still my least favorite, but I never thought it was bad, just... not as good
I think this was one of the films affected by 9/11. From what I recall, they had to make changes, particularly to the ending, due to the sensitivities of the time.
I did enjoy this movie as a kid, and there are still some memorable scenes/jokes that I continually go back to more than the first, particularly the fight between J and and those alien goons. I lose it at: “bend him!” every time!
I think my favorite moment from this movie is the call back to that conversation between K and J about "better to have loved and lost than not have loved at all" and K respons "try it" and then at the endind of this movie J is in that position.
A bit strange that he is doing the 2nd one first. Thought he would do the 1st one, then 2nd and 3rd one. Also Johnny Knoxvilles character was completely forgotten about. No really, he was in the film and the director just forgot about him.
8:25---Look up Karl Pilkington/Stephen Merchant chat on MiB2, where Karl compares Stephen to the "multi-armed" alien (it's honestly hysterical how pissed off Merchant gets)
"get someone from Rick & Morty" is something that is said in Hollywood alot right now, but yeah its easy to see how a R&M type, could give us a sequel that lives up to the promise of a Men In Black universe.
get someone from season 1 or 2 the guys from seasons 3 to 5 are getting creepily weird no joke the latest episode as of this comment's wiritng was ... disgusting... is like they tried to imitate DOOM PATROL's Season 2 episode "Sex Patrol" in a disgusting way
I mean.. considering this movie has a primary joke about a character having balls on his chin, I think it might be a perfect choice right about now. Considering that Rick and Morty has recently approached a Family Guy level of humor, and they INVENTED balls-on-chin humor Edit: Just looking back two episodes, we have had boobs-on-elbows humor, living sperm monsters creating an incest baby, and full-on horse/human makeout followed by slimy horse birth... R&M has passed even Family Guy
Better than MIB3’s awkward joke about how black people can drive nice cars but his was stolen but that’s not the point….yeesh, at least the ‘pulled over’ quip was quick and subtle.
Men in black: a hilarious movie with somewhat dated effects but still a great movie Men in black 2: a bad movie with mostly dated effects but sill some solid humour Men in black 3: an amazing movie with some effects that still hold up today and with more great humour MIB international: terrible in everyway i cannot say a single good thing about it except that it could’ve been a thor and Valkyrie movie and no one would notice it is that different from the rest of the MIB movies
I always assumed he called her “baby” at the end because he was her father. They make it kinda clear that he had a relationship with her mother so it was always just an assumption.
@@tuschman168 3 was just so good compared to what came before. It has a good script, good performances, and just a feel good vibe to it. Even though TLJ isn't in it much himself, Josh Brolin makes you believe he's the same person. The dialogue between Smith and Jones at the end also just was such a sweet moment. The series should've ended with that.
I just thought of a fanscription: agent K is like MiB's winter soldier after the 1st movie. But after the problem is fixed, he is brought back to his wife though he has residual memories of what happened.
I don't know what you're talking about; the Men in Black followup was great! Hear me out. It had a bunch of new aliens although, yes, there were some minor changes to the fan favorites. We see some real character growth from J, and a gradual acceptance from K as he adapts to the job working through perseverance. L actually played a pretty big role and the three main characters tackled a lot of new and interesting topics and adventures. They kept the lighthearted joking nature while also entering into some incredibly dangerous and weird situations. It had one of the most mesmerizing and catchy openings, showing viewers a complete synopsis of everything they need to know thus far. Oh, and also, it was an animated series.
Wait wait I remember this slightly. Yeah I remember the girl having emotional based storm/avatar powers. I also remember assuming the next movie would be about her using her avatar powers on different alien planets with an alien partner maybe. Why didn't we get that instead of the recent film trying to pinch off the popularity of the nostalgia?
talking about rick and Morty, there's a scene where ricks actually was going to say what Doug just say here and Morty is like, save it for UA-cam, coincidence?

Doug, you realize he's her father right? That's why he calls her baby
Ah I didn't get this
Sometimes in his reviews, he can't see the forest for the trees
I think he should review “Tommy Boy”.
Tommy Boy 2: Rise of the Doryan Burlison
love that movie so funny. also please review black sheep
The question still stands:
Who and WHY would you stack pizza boxes like that?
4:53 You said "back to the morgue" as if you killed her.
From IMDB:
Famke Janssen was originally cast as Serleena and completed some scenes before dropping out due to a death in the family, with the role subsequently recast with Lara Flynn Boyle.
-Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez and Yeardley Smith originally auditioned for the part of Serleena.
The fuck is Yeardly Smith doing out of the recording studio?!?!
Halle Berry would’ve been great in this role
I’m surprised that Doug didn’t make any jokes about the opening for…obvious reasons.
Could’ve been a great deviantart joke 😂
The scene that launched *way too many* fetishes.
Really would have been a perfect moment for his "Fe-tish Mo-vie" line but I guess since it was so close to the opening that the UA-cam bots may have axed the video so I can see him having restraint.
He could've but, then it would've quickly turned into a dig at the DeviantART fetish community, again...
@10:48 Speaking of Megavolt where's our dark gritty live action Darkwing Duck Movie? Followed by a live action Tailspin
Nope...have a live action Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers instead.
I've never heard anyone complain about this movie? I didn't know it was considered bad. I heard more people complaining about the 3rd one, which I absolutely adored. As for this one... I haven't seen the newest, so this is still my least favorite, but I never thought it was bad, just... not as good
15:05 - Come on, you missed a perfectly good chance to dub in the Liu Kang sound effect from _Mortal Kombat._
I think this was one of the films affected by 9/11. From what I recall, they had to make changes, particularly to the ending, due to the sensitivities of the time.
No wonder it was at the Statue of Liberty and it had that AMERICA feel
From what I heard the ending was supposed to be on the WTC instead of whatever building they used.
I did enjoy this movie as a kid, and there are still some memorable scenes/jokes that I continually go back to more than the first, particularly the fight between J and and those alien goons. I lose it at: “bend him!” every time!
You should do a top 11 of mystery incorporated episodes
@@goodburger1114 that's why he said *should*
Interesting.
R.i.P. Marcel Theo Hall, a.k.a Biz Markie (April 8, 1964-July 16, 2021).
I just binge watched all three of the original MiB trilogy. And all of them are fantastic in their own ways.
Although he was mentioned later on by one of the worm people as the one who kidnapped Laura.
Well, when he did the Jurassic Parks, he did 2, 1, 3.
Wish he would've done a month on the franchise, reviewing all four movies and the cartoon
He did the Mulan movies out of order too.
@mmt 1459 he reviewed and more analyses then makes fun of some of the better movies (terminator 1 and 2) for example
17:03 Ah, so the aliens live in Beetlejuice's town model?
The reason TLJ refers to Dawson as "baby" is to subtly tell her she's his daughter.
Oh my god, I read it as "The Last Jedi" and was so confused XD
To have only just recently watched this, then learn Biz Markie died? Man that's some dark luck.
I remember my cousin bragging he got this movie on dvd spring break of 2003 now I feel old 😢
8:25---Look up Karl Pilkington/Stephen Merchant chat on MiB2, where Karl compares Stephen to the "multi-armed" alien (it's honestly hysterical how pissed off Merchant gets)
Oh, Karl and his commentaries…It’s not a total miss, they do share some features and both are redheads.
"get someone from Rick & Morty" is something that is said in Hollywood alot right now, but yeah its easy to see how a R&M type, could give us a sequel that lives up to the promise of a Men In Black universe.
get someone from season 1 or 2
the guys from seasons 3 to 5 are getting creepily weird
no joke the latest episode as of this comment's wiritng was ... disgusting...
is like they tried to imitate DOOM PATROL's Season 2 episode "Sex Patrol" in a disgusting way
I mean.. considering this movie has a primary joke about a character having balls on his chin, I think it might be a perfect choice right about now.
Considering that Rick and Morty has recently approached a Family Guy level of humor, and they INVENTED balls-on-chin humor
Edit: Just looking back two episodes, we have had boobs-on-elbows humor, living sperm monsters creating an incest baby, and full-on horse/human makeout followed by slimy horse birth... R&M has passed even Family Guy
I hate how the takeaway is always, "Wow, this thing is popular so let's copy it- never mind that the reason it was popular because it was unique."
@@kingsleycy3450 I could argue that R&M copied most of its schtick from The Venture Bros.
@@louisduarte8763 You could argue that. You just won't be convincing.
8:10 Can’t believe that Biz Markie just died…
😢
Just like Suicide Squad, Will is doing his best in the movie
Rewatching this again, I'm just waiting for Rosario Dawson to turn into Ahsoka Tano and slash the alien lady to pieces with her lightsabers
There's a missed opportunity for one of the guys being Jay, Malcolm being Kay, and possibly Tamara or one of the other ladies being L.
It's official, he's gonna do Cats
" _Flush me J, Flush me!_ "
That one always gets me x3
And I love the Doggo!
8:13 Rest in Peace
He died soon after this came out
"Yeah, some of these jokes are dated, but others...("Actually, it came with a black dude, but he kept getting pulled over.)...are now uncomfortable."
Uncomfortable, yet still current & relevant
I still like that joke
Better than MIB3’s awkward joke about how black people can drive nice cars but his was stolen but that’s not the point….yeesh, at least the ‘pulled over’ quip was quick and subtle.
comedy is our coping mechanism
@@lewiskazinsky7334 Didn’t bother me. Also don’t forget “ I stole them both. Car from your wife, suit from your grandmother!!
Men in black: a hilarious movie with somewhat dated effects but still a great movie
Men in black 2: a bad movie with mostly dated effects but sill some solid humour
Men in black 3: an amazing movie with some effects that still hold up today and with more great humour
MIB international: terrible in everyway i cannot say a single good thing about it except that it could’ve been a thor and Valkyrie movie and no one would notice it is that different from the rest of the MIB movies
At least the Thor joke in MIB International gave me a good laugh.
What if MiB international was a hidden MCU Multiverse movie all along, and the leads were actually a memory wiped Thor and Valkyrie? :o
4:15
Holy Crap, Hitchcock?! Or is it Scully, I can never remember?
I always assumed he called her “baby” at the end because he was her father. They make it kinda clear that he had a relationship with her mother so it was always just an assumption.
I think the best scene was possibly when K remembers what happened when he got the Light.
I'll just stick with the cartoon series as the real sequel to the Men In Black movie.
i can respect that, the TAS was pretty damn good, not Batman TAS good but a lot better than this.
MIB 3 is very good.
I always thought MiB 2 was a follow-up to the series (Never watched much of that series, but I remember it being decent).
1 is fun, 2 is "meh", 3 is surprisingly good.
I'd love to see the NC's take on 3. Especially since I can't really articulate why I like 3 better than 2. I just do.
8:45 "Oh by the way, they broke up" is a sequel cliche I fucking despise.
I just thought of a fanscription: agent K is like MiB's winter soldier after the 1st movie. But after the problem is fixed, he is brought back to his wife though he has residual memories of what happened.
R.I.P. Rip Torn
Honestly I'm glad he didn't talk about Serlena and her online presence
@@orionrokoh1290 Not what I meant lol
Hey Doug should review Black Hawk Down it’s definitely not for kids but it be fun!
Nah, leave that for the history-tubers. There's plenty who analyze from both a film and historic perspective.
Biz Marky died the day after you mentioned him in a video, what are the odds.
Is the thing he's holding just missing at 3:01, like did they just forget to put it in!!!
So appsro watches AVGN and Anthony watchs Nostalgia Critic confirmed.
Even CinemaSines pointed that out.
I feel like the bad fighting from Zed and K we’re absolutely intentional.
It’s a silly sci fi movie, so it gets silly sci-fi fighting.
Homage the the bad fighting of 60s sci fi shows and serials
I’m glad you acknowledged the mini planet. It’s one of my favorite jokes ever.
If this is anything like the Blues Brothers sequel we are in for a treat
I’m surprised when it got to David Cross he didn’t say anything about “Didn’t he die In the first movie?”
To be fair, I didn't recognize him in the first one after seeing him in the second until years later.
Oh, I’m so nostalgic for this one and three. I was never crazy about the first one. My dad use to have them both on kindle
Agent H (Horton) would have heard the cries of those space whos and saved them from K's finger. Respect.
I always felt the "Baby" line was more fatherly.
I wish there had been an "All hail critic! All hail critic!" at the end.
*8:53** Is Pretty Cathartic Now Haha!*
Wait wait I remember this slightly.
Yeah I remember the girl having emotional based
storm/avatar powers.
I also remember assuming the next movie would be
about her using her avatar powers on different alien planets
with an alien partner maybe.
Why didn't we get that instead of the recent film trying to pinch off the popularity of
the nostalgia?
talking about rick and Morty, there's a scene where ricks actually was going to say what Doug just say here and Morty is like, save it for UA-cam,
coincidence?
Doug is a Rick
12:02, "Then we can get to JAMES Brolin a lot faster?" His name is Josh Brolin, not James Brolin.
@@BatmanFan76 Well that I didn't know.
This review re-reminded me of Biz Markie and prompted me to go listen to his discography for the first time. Wow the timing could not me more crazy. Mere days later and he is gone. RIP legend.
