Bro. The accent. The advice. The keyframe stretchers. The distinction between macros and saving things for reuse in the edit page. You are my huckleberry.
This video answered two major things I was trying to figure out: how to retime an animation and delay certain parts and how to keep certain key frames fixed while allowing me to stretch out the animation. It’s like you read my mind lol.
Why is this channel so underrated. I saw your After Effects to Fusion videos and understood all of them even though I had never used After Effects at all.
I've watched many videos about how to save my Fusion comps for reuse and this is the first one that took the time to explain it in enough detail that I could understand what I had been doing wrong, and what I need to do going forward. THANKS!
your the first person that ive ever seen explain the anim curve effectively. so many macros ive downloaded were unusable because the animator didn't use this method. you are a game changer for me Ryan. been using resolve for 6 years and have been so annoyed with fusion I never gave it a real chance. your finally helping me learn this crucial tool. I can't thank you enough.
@@RyanOsborneUK the pleasure is mine. I would love for you to breakdown "what macro tools are needed" when creating a macro, and if there is a "select all" method for selecting all the parameters. Im still new to this but I always feel I need to select all the boxes but this seems wrong and super tedious. can you give any insight to this old fart about this? lol
This is just such a perfect tutorial. Along the way, questions would pop into my head, and 30 seconds later you would answer them. I used to work with graphics and animation in the previous century, then stopped for a long time, and am just picking it up again as a hobby/possible extra income, so I'm just so thankful you and others are giving your time and energy to make these current tools less daunting, for everyone and for free! My heroes, truly. If this world is salvageable at all, it will be because people can have a voice who previously couldn't. That almost anyone has access to these tools nowadays is a huge part of that.
Thank you dude. Such kind words here. I’m happy it’s been helpful for you 😊 all the best in your motion graphics endeavours, I’m sure you’ll create some amazing stuff
I feel like these tutorials are the foundation for what's still coming.. It's like you're preparing us and building a solid foundation for what's important to know! I love the workflow and ease to follow along! I gotta say - and plz take this as positive feedback/ constructive criticism, I was strongly tempted to pass on this video because the thumbnail & the title was targeting a specific group, maybe on the advanced level, that I didn't feel compelled to watch it.. but because I already watched your previous videos, enjoyed your way of explaining, and learned a lot, I forced myself to watch it, and I'm glad that I did, because this definitely was one of the most important and helpful tutorials I needed to watch. Again, thank you for making these videos, and thank you for the free effects too 🫡
No offense was taken there and thank you very much for the honest feedback. It's refreshing. I'm trying to find the balance between stuff that newcomers can learn as well as more advanced users. Thanks for sticking with it though. I'm looking forward to offering some quicker and less time-consuming tutorials in the future :)
You are the best Mate! I will be trying to commenting every time I watched a tutorial from your channel that was useful for me to boost you channel in algorithms. Thanks again :)
Holy smokes this was useful. Thank you for making this. It really demystified how to make my own macros, especially re-timing for the editing page. Awesome work.
This is such a powerful feature I didn't even realize it's possible on Fusion, but also something to be expected with node workflows (like Blender's Node Presets). A quality feature for quality content provided in a quality tutorial
The idea to use keyframe stretcher is good but i don't see a way around if i need to the effect to be shorter. Really good tutorial! please keep doing!
Make your animation in a fusion comp that is 1 second with the key frame stretcher appropriately input to 30 frames and you can stretch it from there and you can shrink it up to one second !
I've learned so much from your videos. Thank you! This Twitter follow animation is amazing. Is there a way to change the icon from the twitter bird to the newer "X" logo?
I'm learning so much from your videos on MoGraph stuff. Ryan, I have a request...wondering if it would interest you to try showing us...I want to make liquid drip into a sphere and the sphere bloats up until it bursts. Can I do that in fusion?
Thanks for another great tutorial Ryan. I had been wondering how you created your setting file for the like and subscribe fusion comp, and now I know. Being able to reuse fusion compositions between videos was one of my next goals, and your video arrived just in time :)
Hey Ryan, amazing videos you've got here (subscribed very quickly! and love your accent). I've watched all of them several times over while following along to build a macro/generator. I'd like to ask if theres anyway to set a default length of a macro while exporting it so that I dont have to keep resizing it every time. My macro is around 8 seconds but I see the default is 5, I know I could adjust the global davinci default but just wondering if there was a way to set the amount / length of a macro so its always that exact length? Thanks
Hey 👋 interesting question. I’ll be honest, I don’t think you can! I know you can set the global default as you say but, don’t think you can do this on a per case basis. I may be wrong though. I’ll do some digging and let you know if I discover anything 😊
Keep going! Good content as always, i really appreciate the pile of knowledge you deliver and the quality of content. You are fullfing my dream, when I came from Premiere there was very little of high quality tutorials as it is for Premiere. And this is only handicap that Davinci have and bothers me; not too much high quality tutorials that are easy to consume and too little of plugins. So it is really nice to see someone is doing it!
Thank you my dude. Really appreciate the kind words. I have a lot more to share. I just want to make sure every video I do is as helpful as possible. If you have anything you want to know, drop me a comment :)
@@RyanOsborneUK @Ryan Osborne You are welcome😊. Glad to hear that! And thank you! Right now I need to mainly speed up my Workflow In edit page to have more time for fancy stuff in Fusion, so that may be the idea for some future video:D But ofc. It mainly depends on you, I don't know if you rather want to focus more on Fusion stuff. Anyway some scripting would be useful too. For example, some script for auto updating bin when you add new stuff to folder on your system. That would would be a huge time saver! Especially when you are downloading lots of the stuff frequently to add it in video. I heard it is possible to script that, but i never saw proper tutorial for it.
ahhh this is so cumbersome.. im so close to getting it to edit effects tab! but, i cant seem to open the generator file, the show folder just hyperlinks to "this PC" tab in my folder....
Hey Ryan! DO you have any top recommendations for Fusion courses to get really deep/good at creating effects or familiar with effects in Fusion/Resolve? Would love to know if there's any specific sources that helped you learn a lot of this stuff (aside from playing around)
Hey Haris, I don't unfortunately. UA-cam is a good resource though. Patrick Stirling was massively helpful to me when I first started. Worth checking out. Apart from that, I learned by tinkering. Out of curiosity, if I offered a course... would you be interested in it?
Hi Ryan great content I just find you today I am a new subscriber. Would you mind telling me the name of the program on your banner between Resolve and Affinity photo? thanks in advance
Thank you for your efforts! Unfortunately, I can't get this method of saving a Setting as an Edit Page effect to work in v.18.6., mainly I think because I can't find the directories or else because I actually need to compress it into a .drfx file or something. When I click on the three dots to find the effects directory, Windows 11 just dumps me on the desktop.
Hey, thats a great video, thank you for that. I have a small question though and maybe you can help me with it? I created some kind of very simple transition effect in fusion and I'll need to use this effect very often, so I wanted to make it useable from the edit page. The problem is: The animation done in fusion starts at frame 1 and ends at frame 30;when I cut the beginning of the clip I want to apply my effect to in the edit page, the effect disappears. I guess its only used for the frames I actually animated in fusion, but that are "gone" due to editing. is there any solution for this? Saving it as a transition didn't help sadly. Maybe you have an idea? :)
Ryan - Excellent tutorial! Quick question. You brought up the keyframe stretcher. Is there a way to keep Fast Noise rolling inside a clip that uses a keyframe stretcher?
Thanks Darren! I actually didn't realise that the keyframe stretcher paused the seethe rate of fast noise. Had a play around in a blank Fusion comp before I got back to you here. The short answer is yes, you can exclude the fast noise from the keyframe stretcher by merging the fast noise to the node tree AFTER the keyframe stretcher in the chain (so it won't be affected by the stretcher so to speak). But I've got a feeling this might not always be ideal, depending on what you're creating. Let me know if this helps you. If it doesn't, I'd be interested to know why, to see if we can get to the bottom of it together.
@@RyanOsborneUK - thanks for the quick response! Yes, unfortunately, I do need fast noise to run throughout the clip. I’ll create a video or I could send you my script file. Let me know what you prefer.
@@RyanOsborneUK Well, I think I may have solved my own problem, LOL. I had the keyframe stretcher only extending 1 frame. I changed it to extend over 60 frames or so and it seems to work! However, if you see any areas that need improvement I would definitely be open to suggestions, particularly how I can make the white background fade from transparent to opaque. Just can't seem to make that happen for some reason. Thanks!
