Do you have a link for the 14” clear bags that are shown in the video? I don’t see them on the amazon link and I can’t find any out there that are the same as yours. The others all seem to have a peel and stick strip. Thanks!!
SO much good information in this video Don. It’s on my SAVE list under ebay, but there’s information in there for other services, so I’ll probably be watching it again a time or two. Thanks much!
I'd be tempted to put that stuff in bubble mailers with 2 pieces of cardboard on either side. I'd also be interested in selling only postcards and stuff like that. Easy storage.
Thanks Don, Appreciate your content greatly. Today is my 50th birthday.hahaha, the best present ever is watching you today!!! Say hello to the wife & son..Have a wonderful New Year!
Wow, 97 items, that’s awesome! I love organization videos and organizing in general, so since my store is still small, I’m going to implement your ideas right away so I don’t get overwhelmed as I grow! Thank you for taking the time to make this video, and Happy New Year to you and your family!!
Awesome! I want to ship oars. I was thinking of using boxes that snow boards or skis come in. Your thoughts? Thanks for helping all of us dive into this. I have so much inheritance items that’s where I’m starting.
Fascinating video, thank you. Very inspiring as I have a hoard of similar types of items to sell this year. Not quite as many as you, though - like several hundred thousand million items less, lol 😄. Full of admiration for this business model you have built. More rewarding in the US than UK (where I am) I think - you have such an abundance of amazing old stuff Stateside. Happy new year.
Thank you! UK should have similar paper items as we see them even here all the time. Raphael Tuck is one great example. We've had a few others from the UK tell us they sell similar items in the London area. No idea if it's better sourcing that sort of thing there or not though.
I get a lot of my boxes when they are available from local grocery stores and from a number of other businesses for free ..... if I need special box in the past i've gone to Staples Business Depot and on occasion U-Haul .... much better to get the boxes for free though if you can. Mailers, and bags I get from Amazon myself and I may consider getting some stuff from Ebay in the future too.
I purchased a relatively rare record from a famous used record store in Los Angeles. Very well packed. Unfortunately, someone punched a hole through box, packing material and record. Diameter of a curtain rod.....oh well. Could spend hours describing horror stories of damaged received items. Crushed boxes marked fragile, with tire tread marks on box. A tiny razor slit just under flap of super strong high quality plastic pouch. Almost unnoticeable, but large enough to remove piece of jewelry....
I'm watching this video just in time to put a good inventory system in place for me. When you only have 100 items listed, it's a piece of cake but I think once you get to more than 100, you have to have something that makes it easier. Excellent video, as always! I, too would love to see more of these videos that shows us your dungeon and other set ups :) Have an awesome day, Don!
love watching your channel, so far you seem to be the most helpful....you are encouraging and seem to be filled with much gratitude for your situation, most of all I love the fact you keep drumming into our heads that we need to work hard and keep learning all we can to be better at selling, and knowing what we are selling, thank you so much for your channel.
I also charge for shipping and do not pass savings on. In fact, I use the extra money made on shipping to make the car payments on our brand new van. Thanks for the vid Don.
I use the same inventory system with the exception that I assign a item number and place each item in a zip lock bag and write the item number on a label on the bag. The zip locks get reused. When something ships I draw a line thru the item number and put the zip locks in a box in order they were emptied, so if something happens I have a record of what I pulled. If you need labels to write on the Avery 4013 tractor feed address labels are dirt cheap. Also I mix items in locations with reason. I go thru locations to find space available and pull them before I list or if they are down to two items I'll pull them while I'm filling sales.
Because that would be illegal to use them for anything else other than shipping one item via US Priority. If a box has already been used then you can tho. But we don't break the law at all regardless of how much money we could save.
Thanks for the viedo. I don't have much listed yet. I have small boxes pencil case size, and already started marking them b1, b2, and so forth. Didn't think of putting that in the title. It would save time having it in the title instead clicking through to the listing, and having it at the end of the listing.
We used to tape the sealed item to the cardboard, but have had many people damage the item trying to free it from the cardboard. So we have found the keeping the item loose in the packaging is the best, and safest way. We have never had an issue in a decade of doing it this way. The items are all taped on the sides so they can't slide out until the buyer cuts them out.
Don or someone? When I list an item and DON'T wanna put the " item location" in the Description, where can I put it? For example, tote "A-1" goes where?
B-Man 123 put it in the custom sku. It’s a couple fields below the title when you are writing the listing. Buyers not see it but it’s visible when you are looking at the awaiting shipping page.
Thanks again Don! What do you think about offering free shipping on cheap postcards utilizing a postage stamp while also offering a 1st class option for $2.75 with tracking?
Hi Don, Is there a reason that you put your bin or item inventory # in the title? I am very new to reselling and I often wonder why you wouldn't put if in the SKU field or somewhere else? Please clarify all the pro's and cons to both methods? Thanks so much.
Writing "Do Not Bend" reminds me. I had a rare for me, large picture to ship. I used UPS to ship it. When I brought the box in the clerk mentioned to me it's a "waste of time" to write the arrows up and "glass" on the box. Her points were... 1. The box is going to go on a conveyor belt, and 2. Some wacky employee would see the word "glass" and kick it. I was like... Are you serious??? She's like ... "You don't even know." Ummm... I'll stick with USPS. And like you referred to in your other video, Don... I'd rather let people know this item is fragile. Thank you always, Don! Looking forward to your packing odd items video.
I have a local company that produces advertising pieces promo pieces concert pieces convention pieces... they save me their scrap foam core... sometimes it's the archival-quality stuff... really a nice touch, to stiffen a package... possibly lighter than cardboard...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES..

So you buy enays polly bags and that means the shipping is free? Does the customer pay shipping?
Do you keep a seperate inventory list on your computer?
We charge for all shipping so all customers pay to have their item shipped.
We keep mulitple copies of all documents, and files we use for our business.

Thanks. Good cardboard skill.
I appreciate you and other sellers making videos like this.
Also it made me happy seeing Married with Children in the background. Lol
Great info... You are a champion. 🏆
Thank you SO MUCH for all of the information you share!
Once again awesome info.
Wow! This will help me to the next level! Thank-you so much!

Great tips, Don! Thank you!
I just packed a cut up box today based on your previous video(s) on making your own box. I will be doing more in the future. It makes a lot of sense.
Glad it helped Bob!

The Auction Professor thank you!! 🎊
Can you give the exact tape dispenser # and tape that you use from uline? Thanks
WOW, There are Hours & Hours of sorting & filing everything just so You Can find it. Dang !! I guess you'd have too. Im impressed.
Very informative. Happy New Year! May it be prosperous!

Very helpful. Thanks :)

Great smart basic info, thanks for you ideas !
Would love to see your record packaging😊! Great video👍! Thanks
We already have several. Here the last one: ua-cam.com/video/G206XQ3jY3M/v-deo.html
Thanks for the time on the video. Great tips!
So for the larger paper itmes, you don't poly bag after wrapping in the cardboard?
Looks like the last step is to apply the label and send.
I love this fuccin guy
I need to buy one of those tape rolls! Where has this been all my life. I like the small size Wal-Mart box hack. Excellent job.
I have a link to all my items in the description of the video.
@@TheAuctionProfessor Ok. I found the answer to my question. Thanks
As far as boxes I raid the trash bins behind a Dollar General store. Always nothing but boxes there. I hardly ever buy boxes.

Do customers care if you just put a postcard in a sleeve and mail it in a gift card envelope?

As long as eBay allows us to do it that way we will. Why give away postage when you don't have to.
I'd love to see more views of the dungeon and the various shelf units.
Thank you so much Don for sharing so much fabulous information. I really appreciate all that you do. Happy New Year to you and all your family.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR BUSINESS!!
Thanks for your tips, good to see I've been doing it the right way, you're a real inspiration!
Where do you mainly get your postcards
This is a great way to ship postcards & small flat items, thank you for sharing.
WOW, This is another awesome video with great storage and shipping tips! Looking forward to seeing your tips for shipping 45’s and albums.

Where did you get the large desk tape dispenser? That's great. I've looked on ebay and can only find the tape guns
Do you drop the packages at the post office or does your mailma. Pick it up at your home.
We never go to the Post Office, and have pick ups scheduled a year in advance for everyday of the week.
why don't you use free boxes from usps to cut up for shipping postcards instead of the boxes you pay for ? just wonderin'
Because that would be illegal to use them for anything else other than shipping one item via US Priority. If a box has already been used then you can tho. But we don't break the law at all regardless of how much money we could save.
@@TheAuctionProfessor Good Answer !! Lol Thought it could keep costs down. Keep up the good work !!
Do you scan your post cards, or do you photograph them?
I believe he scans them using a duplex scanner.

The Auction Professor I have a Serious question for you. What if God Forbid you have a House Fire, what would you do? All that time posting it all.
We are covered. We have a BOP (Business Owners Policy), which every reseller should have. Almost none do though.
I add some transparent tape to secure the bagged paper items from shifting or falling out upon opening. Otherwise we're on the same page.
We used to tape the sealed item to the cardboard, but have had many people damage the item trying to free it from the cardboard. So we have found the keeping the item loose in the packaging is the best, and safest way. We have never had an issue in a decade of doing it this way. We can't do that as we are required to track all items to keep our Top Rated Plus status. Far too many I fear would just pick the stamp.
Hi Don, Is there a reason that you put your bin or item inventory # in the title? I am very new to reselling and I often wonder why you wouldn't put if in the SKU field or somewhere else? Please clarify all the pro's and cons to both methods? Thanks so much.
