- I have not played The Isle all that much lately. I haven't been having fun on it. But the Herrerasaurus and Dilophosaurus have been added, and that's a great opportunity for views, which translates to watch time, which translates to ad revenue. Today we will be journeying as the Herrerasaurus!

Sometimes I wonder if the current stamina is REALLY an accurate representation of what Isle devs think is realistic when going for a small jog. Or is it more of a personal experience?

I was playing as herrera yesterday. It's fun as it looks, but yes, the stamina system really holds it back. I tried playing it as Dondi intended, by preserving my stamina system, but that always just took too long to get me where I'm going and I begin to starve or dehydrate, no matter if I fill up every time.
Also, to those who don't know, Herrera can dive and stay underwater like a beipi can, just can't swim as fast. This may be only as an adult, but Herrera can also catch fish and I know can only see partially underwater as an adult.

@@TheOneTruePeskyyes it can! But they able to hold breath only for ~25 seconds and their underwater vision is quite bad.
@@TheOneTruePesky yeah i think it’s CTRL to go under the surface but I starved anyway lol, there seem to be no fish in the rivers. Plus once hype dies down and everyone’s deino again it’ll be a useless feature where you die everytime because it’s slow in the water and can’t see well. unless they create rivers disconnected from the main waterline or put fish spawns in all of the ponds

I personally really wouldn't mind the stam system if they, y'know, based their gameplay around it, like for example, decreasing hunger and thirst drain rate. Like, you want me to play slower? Cool, I can handle that as a DayZ and Kenshi player, but if I starve and die going from point A to B because I was playing slower as intended? That's bullshit.
100%. You need to walk everywhere to conserve stam, but by the time you find something to hunt, you're starving. So it's either run around and fight with no stam, or walk around and fight while starving. Or go to a hotspot where there's loads of food, but you'll get ganked.

Stego should skydive without a parachute
Herrera can slide down a tree without using stam by the ctrl key and it can also climb trees even if you're out of stam. When dropping onto prey from trees, the damage scales with height. Higher up you jump from, the more damage it does. It can also swim under water. Also herrera can use it's dewlap for silent communication that only other herreras can see.
how do you use dewlap, and also i heard fishing was a thing for herrera? how does that work do you know?
@@ghoulsznss Press F and hold LMB should activate dewlap. Yeah Herrera can fish, fish don't give diet but they do give food. Just bite schooling fish like normal to get them.

Btw if anyone wants to grow herrera without worrying about food or water too much theres a pond near Lat -92, Long 87 (If you are at the human building, just go straight south) that has fish spawns in it. Very shallow so you can jump and dive in and out of it + lots of trees around to go into (Keep in mind the fish dont give diet, its just a secure food source). I lived there with a pack of about 8+ and we thrived off of the fish and putting food near trees to then ambush any dilos or omnis that came to eat it (Herrera does decent damage on a head shot while ambushing from a tree)
I dont know how safe it will be when deinos start popping up again but I feel it might be fine for a while + you could ambush any juvies you see resting on the edge of the pond.
I was playing Herrera for a good 4-5 hours last night, and I swear you don’t take any fall damage as that thing. You could be falling down the highest point of the map and still not even get a broken leg! It’s great.
Fr, I’ve jumped out of the highest point in a tree and not even taken damage.

I managed to get hurt once for a test. There's one of the domes that lies on a hill. I got up to where one of the domes support beams starts to curve inwards, then jumped down hill. Took damage but not sure how much cause I was already dying of thirst.

I’ve played herra all day today and I LOVED IT! The jumping from and to branches is a bit tricky sometimes but once you get it: great. You can fish school fish underwater, you can dive, it almost feels like a dino that can do it all. Absolutely love this new add, eventhough I wasn’t even looking forward to the Herra. 😂 Nice video!

It’s probably based on weight. A baby stego still weighs a ton more than an adult dilo.
honestly a lot of the smaller dinos have way too little health for the amount of damage there is. getting one tapped and having to grow again and again just isn't fun
To be fair it is the easiest thing to avoid a baby stego that isn’t even on your diet

This game is singlehandedly killing itself.
If they don't fix the stamina, the balancing and the hunger drain, I can see this game being forgotten to time very easily while PoT continues to grow.
It feels like isle devs are the devs who don’t test their own game
Love playing Herra so far, you ahve so much more ways to disengage fights, climbing walls that other dinos can't is a huge lifesaver. The only thing that sourcs my game-play is the abysmal spawn rate of AI, most of the time i just starve to death or im forced to eat rotten flesh.
the only reason i want rex to be in this game as fast as possible is that the stego players have something to fear for once since their release
edit: i know that they may switch to rex but hopefully trike gets released alongside rex so it won't just take over completely and will have anything that can actually fight it, deino also exists so thats one way to solve the stego problem
I mean, honestly, they could add allo, Alberto, and acro could put fear in stego. Trex isn't the only one going to be able to take stego on confidently, and I'm not saying this as a shot at you I just wish Trex wasn't being added so soon compared to others because we all know how many rexes we are going to run into constantly even a year after it's been released.

@@JHTCT3-USMC-777 Allosaurus would be pretty fitting, they were their primary natural predator and it would be quite poetic to have their mortal enemies finally put them in their place, heck they're pretty much made to kill them as far as their paleoecology is concerned, honestly not sure why they weren't added at the same time. But, I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to screw that up somehow, it's like every time they do something good for the game, they always have to break several other things to compensate.
Rex probably (hopefully) won't be released until they are almost done with the rest of the roster.
If you weren't aware, herra is basically semi-aquatic. Can dive and float in water without losing stam

yes, just not in thid video. The steg wasnt fresh spawn at all, it probably was three times the herras size. Herra is a very lightly built animal. Youre also very prohibited to dodge in a mudpit.

I play this same server and the sheer amount of dilos is crazy. And they're so danm loud. As a Herrera I just keep starving. I think they nerfed the AI spawns. Along with the stam, it's becoming a pain in the ass to be constantly out of food or stam.
They're REALLY loud. I too was playing Dilo yesterday, trying to hunt. I Just wanted to shout "WILL YOU GUYS SHUT THE F%#! UP, I'M TRYING TO LOCATE A BOAR OVER HERE!"
@phil8821 I tried playing Dilo, but being in a group was too loud. I was a steg tonight for a bit, and the constant hooting all around was very unnerving

My personal theory is that they're putting dinosaur gameplay on rails to make human gameplay more doable.
Also I found out on the Gateway hordetest that stego can swing 21 times before running out of stamina. Just add that on top of the zero stam swings it got in the live build.

1 minute to regen 19% stam WITH the +15% faster regen is insane.
Having to sit down for 5 irl minutes to regen a VITAL thing is just an objectively bad decision

Never play The Isle. It's a waste of your limited time on this planet. There are games that exist that actually allow you to have fun. Go play those, instead of. . . whatever the fuck this is.

It's the difference in weight class and force, a baby under the size of a fresh spawn juvi wouldn't be able to do that.
For those saying the baby stego was 3x Pesky's size and whatnot - The stegos thagomizers were literally the size of *toothpicks*. An adult herrera got 1 shot by *toothpicks*. From an infant. Let that sink in.
A baby stegosaurus also weighs more than an adult Herrera (this game plays a lot on weight.) Also, the swing still has a lot of power, so body shots/tail shots won't kill you. (They haven't killed me as a Herrera at least) but having a tiny dull spike smash into your head with a lot of power would probably kill the Herrera because of it's small head.
@@bumsiebum It's like a baby rhino 1 shotting an adult jaguar. It's just kinda silly, even if its heavier. A baby doesn't even have the muscle development to do serious damage to anything really. There's a reason large herbivores have babies that either A) Run as soon as they're born, or B) Have living tanks protecting them (like rhinos and elephants). Even if baby elephants were born with tusks, they just don't have the muscle to use them practically. If we had baby stegos irl in front of us, the most they could do to a human would maybe inflict a few scratches - And only if we let them. Their thagomizers simply wouldn't have the force to puncture deep into flesh or pierce bone. A hit to the head would at the very worst hit your eye and blind you, but it wouldn't dig into a skull.

The game strives for realism, but you'll never get true realism in a game for it to be fun. There will always be the downfall because it's a game, and the isle works off of weight class.

I think they _wanted_ to make dilo look kinda nasty and gross, which is why it looks less neat, and its jaw is all like knobbly-weird and it's hairy and stuff. It's supposed to be a nasty venom gremlin.
The stam system made my friend group and I stop playing the Isle ... it was just a resting simulator at that point.

I think the stam system should be a quick stam regain with a exhaustion as cap.
Example 100 stam once used it will drain exhaust which is the same value. While stam can be recovered over ~ 30 secs by sitting and only to current max exhaustion. The exhaust only recovers in sleep and takes that 3 min that current stam does.
Pesky try not to act like the dinosaur that receives the most special treatment in the entire game is somehow mistreated challenge impossible.
Even when carno is OP as fuck he complains about it being “mistreated” because of its animations lmao
@@somerandomperson6511 We Carno players have it so tough, our z walk makes us look a little silly when we're doing it, it's so hard being a Carno main, don't look over at Teno's tail slam doing 5 damage, that's bot important, Carno is the one being mistreated if you really think about it.

I actually had no idea that the scent was changed cus of lag no matter how much I tried to look into why it changed. Animals that rely on smell to find food should be able to track their prey so much easier. Current scent is terrible imo.

I swear herrera is the only good thing thats ever come to evrima. Herrera is my favorite dino even when he was a little rat in legacy thats only thing was its speed but as soon as it was shown that it was gonna be able to climb stuff i was so excited. And now im really happy they didnt screw it up like everything else. Im addicted to herrera and its the only reason why im playing evrima even though my frames are still ass. Climbing is just that fun. Feels good to be able to travel the map however you want because you can just climb everything. Of course everything else is holding herrera back from its true potential that being the shitty stam, fucked up ai that wont spawn, and the bad health or other op dinos that one shot it. I dont care what anyone says. Herrera is the best dino in evrima to exist and no other will ever top it, at least for me.

They tried making dilo more scary in a sense, and it kinda resembles the more realistic dilo art that has been made for dilo.
I actually felt so bad for you when you reacted to the fresh spawn stego swinging in the mud pool i would not be surprised that the isle devs have a huge Stego bias and a huge Carno hate
Huge carno hate? Carno is overpowered as fuck as well lmao, stego is the only herbivore who has stayed consistently “overpowered” (except for that patch where one raptor or even a fucking dryo could kill it easily). Deino is the same shit, it can oneshot everything except other large-enough deinos and stegos by using lunge and it can still just waltz inland to steal food and bring it back to the water while tanking hits. Stego is not “overpowered” it was just added too soon, kentro and bary should have been added instead of the two pseudo apexes that the devs for some fucking reason thought would be a good idea to add to a roster of smalls and low-mid tiers

I don’t see how swinging while standing in mud is such a big deal, its whole tail and most of its legs are above the mud but somehow it shouldn’t be able to swing it because its feet are wet? Using mud pits in a fight is a bitch move but there is zero reason that anyone’s attacks should be disabled in it

Stamina regens faster the longer you are resting, and the carbohydrates diet buffs stamina regen along with decreasing stamina decay
To go down faster without wasting stamina, press s while holding control.

I actually played The Isle a bit again when the new map came out but it became incredibly unfun after less than a few weeks. I'm probably not playing the game again, despite how much I loved it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the isle starts to die soon because the stam basically makes it near impossible to play, especially solo. The devs really need to buff the stam regen otherwise they can say bye to their game lol.

6:00 Nope, they removed the ability to regenerate stamina while trotting. You cannot trot everywhere either.
