I thought it was a beautiful truck. Then you showed that rear axle. Most of the truck looks scale or realistic. But that axle makes it look toy grade. Ouch.
Yeah I agree the truck looks so scale everywhere but the rear axle. I do have to say it does help with traction and weight distribution. I shoud try and cover up the Traxxas stickers try and hide the motor a little bit.
This is how they sound...I have three of them, two are brushed and one is brushless. They all sound more or less like that, and I've got hours upon hours of drive time...like you discovered, it's just the gear material (I don't agree that they're defective, as it doesn't actually cause any problems).
Well they might not fail and cause other problems there is still something not right. Changing to the associated spur gear reduced the sound by a significant amount.
These are cool trucks. It will quiet down even more with a quality pinion, I recommend Robinson Racing.

If you buy the kit you can install a radio link, gyro stabilizer receiver system and not have to use one out of a Traxxas.

Have you encountered the problem of dirt and grit getting in the gearbox?
UA-cam has fixit for that.
