- Follow along as I remove an 8-32 stainless bolt out of $1000 fiber optic connection. There’s no room for error! My technique can be used on a lot of different applications, so follow along and watch this old man save money for good friends, .
Dam Rob I have been missing your videos, you are always a encyclopedia of info on machining and things mechanical.
You may not be an expert at welding or a CNC machine, but you are an expert at common sense approach at solving a problem
Like always. Simple, easy, effective and all done humbly! Love your videos and cant wait to see more!!!
Really cool to see you back making videos. I send my healing thoughts to you and my wish that you are past the worst of the shit you were going through. Go Team M! How about winning Indy? You know how to do that.
Sure appreciate the kind words man! Yeah winning Indy would be icing on the cake
No Rob, I think I have two or three of those tubs. LMAO Outstanding work Sir!!
Good stuff. Cant wait for the next vid!!
Hi Rob! It is so great to see you making new videos again. And hey, you are anything but an amateur! What I love most about your videos is, you could have the smallest project, need "a" part for it and you'd go right to the CNC, write a program for it and make it! Everyone I've ever known, they wouldn't bother to make anything on the CNC unless they were going to make 50, 100, 200, etc. Thanks again, Rob!
Outstanding Bill Mac would be in AWE… He’ll I am in AWE…
Thanks for the kind words man!! Really appreciate it!
Welding is usually my first go to on get her outs.😊
Awesome work Rob. Another GREAT video. Humble work.
Nice job 😊
Thanks Rob, I have been looking at a similar situation on my CNC for ages. I’m not the best Tigartiste but I will give it a go this afternoon as I’m full of confidence now.🤞
Dang! Thats some serious micro surgery. Good job.
Right?! 🤣🤣🤣✌🏽
Awesome job knew u could do it take care kansan stay safe
Excellent job Rob. I've removed quite a few broken fasteners using the same method, although none quite that small.
I also prefer to use TIG (GTAW process) as it is so much more controllable and precise. Like you, I feel I'm a fair welder but like to try things and take my skillset and push it in search of continual learning and refinement.
Thank you for showing the process Rob, great video.
Mike
Always informative and entertaining.
Thank You.
Great job. On something that small and thin walled TIG was the correct choice.
I’ve been wrestling with learning to tig weld. For me it feels like I’m walking a tight rope at times. Nice smooth and steady then the webble wobbles kick in and I have to stop.
That’s a great tip! Worked well.
In all my years of experience, I think you should do it exactly the way you did it!!!
And, I have NO experience.. ;-)
Thanks for sharing, Rob!
Fun Video, looking forward to the next one!
One addition. Use a T handle with both hands and a socket, this way pure torque is used, Using a wrench side loads the threads causing more friction that can lead to the weld breaking.
you are a surgeon. for sure. Thank you.
Thanks from England.
Fabricator extraordinaire!
hey Rob,good job...I must be lucky,Im both handsome and handy...lol
Awesome content Rob. Luv ya brother!
Thank you Rob 💪🏻
Well done!!
Friggin awesome!!
955 That set screw should have a nylon tip to protect the adjuster threads. My big concern is that someone broke the screw in the first place.
Great skills
Great stuff, as always! Thanks for sharing the content and the smiles!
Very cool
That's great. I have removed a lot of broken screws from aerospace electromechanical actuators that presented similarly. Just enough material sticking out to mill a flat, center drill, and then use a left-hand drill bit at a very low RPM so it doesn't pull a chip it just bites. Some argue that the technique doesn't work on small screws but that was never my experience.
I was gonna say I do the mig machine! I’m get out broken exhaust manifold bolts, not freaking laser beams. 😂 nicely done
11:00, what a sweetheart.
LOL,HARBOR FREIGHT,LOL.YUP ON 80s 4RUNNER..LOTS,,,GTSY ROB,STAY AWESOME..
Appreciate it bud!
Rob is dynomite with a lazer beam.
Rob, good as usual and yes I have a draw & a box of crap too.
When are you out with Dan's dragster again?
Good job I do need to buy a welder
So awesome the videos you put out. So interesting in the work you do. By chance are you guys racing in Brainerd this year? I'd love to come say "HI"
first movement on the nut ...please don't break please don't break lol
Did you use metric welding rod for that screw?????
cheers from germany.
edit-never welded a thing in my live so good job i guess ;)
jk i bet it`s neat..
Thanks for watching!!!
You are the Best Babe 😘❤️
It looks like they had the setscrew upside down.
Sweeeeet
Are my eyes failing me, or did your friend screw in the wrong end of the set screw first? It looked like the allen wrench end of the set screw was on the inside.
Great video Rob I have tubs/ totes ofmisc goodies!,My sons constantly want me pitch them until I come up with a solution to a probke thanks to the bottomless tubs!
I was thinkibg you might use EDM to remove that but I like your solution .
I really like your innovations I am an innovator also
As a 25 yr student I have an idea to share We thought of engine diappers one day in a oil down delay. We still arent sure who was listening but 6 months later Engine diappers wers a ruke!,
So heres the urrent ones
In view off all spark plugs bliwi g the porclyn center from cylinder pressure spikes Could you not make a cylinder that we screw a plug in one end and a charge of nitrogen at 20k in the other end It would be tedious but you could bat h test a set of plugs
Seco d idea that will requirs development What a out an oil bath Top Fuel clutch? Ide needs work but extreme Heavy equip uses this system
Let me know what you think
That's gotta be worth a few free cutting jobs on his laser, right?
I only have one tub. It's labeled Random Useful Crap.
Never saw tig in this application only mig.
wasnt that lady ashley
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Nope every garage should have a tub of “miscellaneous “ bolts and nuts
If someone that fixes stuff/works on stuff/ makes stuff does not have a "what the hell drawer/box/toolbox.... it is a lie.
