I've built 4 kit cars for a combination of road and track day fun; my advice? buy one that someone else has lost their shirt on and stamp your own identity on it as they are a poor financial proposition
I think the Caterhams may be an exception to that rule. I built one in 2005, it cost me £12.5k. You would have to stump up a fair chunk of that to buy a 2005 Cat in decent condition.
The turbo sounds great MX 5s are buttons at the moment body work damaged maybe a route to go but nice project took one of mine for SVA in the day and the bloke in front had a locust and it failed on emissions so being me I had to get my neb in he was heart broken because he had spent a fortune he tried this and that but no she still failed so I get stuck in I found the problem straight away with a big hug and kiss from his wife which was very nice the problem was he had left the plastic covering on his air filter elements the moral of the story is don’t forget the daft jobs The blokes at the testing station I used where old lads and weren’t out to make you look a fool ,good luck with what ever you go for and enjoy yourself 👍👨🏻🏭
Yeah thats kinda the reason we wanted to show that as a potential option as it helps saves a few thousand in parts by reusing parts from a single donor whilst still veing able to retain an age related plate. Wow that must of felt nice to help with getting his build through, i found that many times where people over look the basic when looking for issues. do love the car community and true motor enthusiasts
I had an MK Indy with webber carbs it was an awesome machine apart from the carbs needingretuning all the bloody time it used to wheel spin in third gear going down the road at 60 mpg IF I applied to much throttle , other than that it was well behaved .
That book by Ron Champion claiming we could build one of these for $500 sucked us all in .. And is the reason why you cant find 4 cylinder rear drive fords in the junkyards any more!
There is a few good books and dvd’s out there. One being “ a racing car is born” by mark evans. Plus it’s every petrol heads dream to build their own car 😊
Where is the fun in that, the excitement is not knowing what's going to fall off first when your driving a car you built in your garage following a printed off guide that's out of date & now your doing 70mph haha
hahahahaha you've gone for an MK kit haven't you? hahahaha i still like the red one from the second visit...but this looks good......so I'm guessing you've already stripped down the MX5😉
Good day! I'm from the Philippines and im interested with your kit. Is it possible for me to buy your kit and it be send here in the Philippines. How much is the round car with windshield, doors & roof but no engine & transmission. Please advise, thanks.
Awesome video, that turbo'd car is mental! I'd imagine that's very lively in the wet... Neil seems like a top bloke. 👍🏻 Soo when's the MK kit getting delivered!? 😂
You mean following in my s4? if so yes but didn't record any external footage, was a brilliant day out certainly made the whole decision that much harder
For a couple of reasons, the price was a big factor ( dont get me wrong the build quality and engineering that goes into a Gbs is second to none but the cost reflects that, also they didnt offer a start to finish build manual and we wanted something that anyone could do no matter what experience you have

Are you able to buy pre built kit cars

Makes sense but for me that defeats the purpose
I did exactly that saving £10k on a Westfield with 80 miles on the clock

Nice bloke, really tight car. Love it

Just buy a Lotus Europa that needs restoring instead of building a kit car. Just make sure the car is complete. End up with a car with a pedigree!

I wonder if the car could be road legal in Germany…
Also is there a left hand drive option ?!

Hey you would have to get in touch with mk sports cars direct for that, we are just a pair of brothers building our own car :)
Great video and lots of info, but jeeez man, learn to not interrupt people when they're talking.
Thank you for the kind comments, i completely agree and i have learnt alot since making this video nearly 2 years ago. Thanks
From France 🇫🇷 Belle vidéo 👌 😉

Super 🇫🇷
Why did you discount the GBS Zero?

See; we told you it is a "Sportscar" not a "Kit Car." LOL Anxious to see how this build goes for y'all.
Haha thought you might like that 😂. Should be interesting I’m sure
How much kits
Wait … did you let Rob drive the S4? 😂
Maybeee 😂
