I live in Florida, east coast and have been seeing unbelievable deals on the Epic 22-25 foot carolina flared bay boats a few years old. They look unreal for the price, all of them have 250-300 horse motors and under 300 hours for $28k-$36k. Was about to go that route but got a steal on a Scout 221 with a Honda 225 the other day.
How do you like the scout?

The dealership down the road from me has two for sale for $63k. That's a lot of money not to have great fit and finish. And you figure the same people making a very expensive Black Jack are also making the Frontier. Hope you get everything worked out.
I ended up around there out the door with everything installed. But yes, fit and finish left a lot to be desired

Your fulltime GPS access told google you were near each other, google owns GPS and yt, get a recommendation. Not a small world when big brother tech knows everything.
I did a repower through Gulf to Lake with 140 zuke, and my experience was the same. The motor stopped interfacing with my plotter and they wouldn't set a time to repair that. They modified the harness for the gateway and only taped it together. Once they had my money for the outboard they stopped taking my calls. I had to take my boat to cocoa beach to have another suzuki dealer fix my issues and I had to pay almost $1000 dollars to fix what should have been warranty fixes.
That’s wild! I’m hearing more and more horror stories on that place from people
I bought my frontier from the dealership in Mobile, when I put my deposit down that was the end of their customer service. I love my boat but I will never do business with them again.

I was thinking you were about to blast the dealer for the bounce buddy and then there’s the hotel stay and the check. Been in the marine industry for 20 years, that’s a damn shame.
Yeah I’d never put anyone on blast unless it’s a series of issues especially a series of unresolved issues. Fortunately k2 marine(frontier) got me all fixed up! It’s a great boat now!

The folks were nice, but unfortunately they were in the top 3 most expensive in the country when I went to purchase. Researched it again 3 months ago and same then also

I had a 2021 model with a 225 Mercury 3.4L V6. I could cruise at 40 and get 4MPG. Top speed was 58. Cool boat for the money bet it’s def not without its flaws. And lastly, their QC has tuned to trash.
Yeah QC left a lot to be desired. But I’ll tell you what. Their customer service is second to none. I’ll be covering this in my 6 month review! The company went ABOVE and BEYOND for me!

Man, I really hate that for you. I know it’s so frustrating when you were so excited for the new boat. This is why always encourage people I know to buy a reputable used boat instead of going for a new Frontier, Nauticstar, Carolina Skiff, etc. For the same money you could have bought a really nice 2-3 year old Key West, Scout, Sea Pro, etc. Hope you get it all sorted out.

Yes!! I spoke to Dalton Kenner who is part of the family that owns frontier and blackjack, they don’t wanna do that because it’ll compete too much with their blackjack line
They are all stealerships. The broad spectrum of crappy built boats. They don’t mind charging you 80k or however much you paid for that boat.
Fortunately I paid much less than that! But yeah you’re right
What is the make on your trolling motor brace?
There aren’t any markings on it, dealer installed it so I’m not quite sure
Will you be adding a t-top to it?
No I don’t think so, I fish artificial mainly and t tops on these don’t give a ton of room for casting

Well that is one dealer i will not be doing any business with ever and i live near them.
It gets way worse! I’ve had issues the past 4 months since the video. To the point where Frontier had to send me to a dealer they trust to get issues worked out. It’s actually currently in the shop getting re rigged from all the isssues from Gulf to Lake marine
