I wouldn't call myself a crazed fan of Zakk Wylde, but I do think he is a great guitar player that has inspired many to pick up the guitar. His guitars designs can kind of be 'out there' but his iconic Bullseye black and white guitar is definitely an iconic sight to behold. And then there is the Camo version of it. I've always thought that the camouflage version of this guitar was ugly. It hides the bullseye and it an ugly blend of colors... but now that I've owned one, I'm surprised at just how much better it looks in person. The fretboard matches the gold hardware, binding and camo very well and I love the black back with visible maple neck and black stringer. It's quite the rocking guitar!

I’ve heard of headless guitars, but never a bodyless guitar
Isn't he just reviewing a neck?
I did see a back of a body not sure why there isn't a front
I believe the camo was inspired from Dimebag, or if memory serves me correctly, Dime painted the first one and gifted it to Zakk. Dime would throw wild parties and they would break the camo out and play paintball. I have an older guitar world magazine where they talk about it. Will have to bust it out of the archives and give it a read. So I might be back with more info here sometime.
This is correct. idk for sure if dime painted the first one but it was definitely inspired by dime's camo Washburn.
Yeah one of his last signatures from dean was a camo v and ml before he pasted Rest In Peace Dime
*wylde parties
Did you find more info
This is the only Gibson Les Paul custom I'd purchase with the EMGs
Such a rad guitar. I think my KM has me sold on Maple necks on LP's
my 2015 LPM has a flame maple neck and i love it
I love the maple neck. Just not a huge fan of the maple fretboard. But yeah, I’d rock it fo sho👊🏻
I always love when you make the metal intros then it goes to acoustic 😂😂😂
lol the transition from metal to your acoustic guitar intro somehow totally caught me off guard
I had the Epiphone version of this guitar when I was a teenager. Only Les Paul I've ever owned, and I regret selling it every day. I've always been more of an SG guy but man, those Wylde Les Pauls are just something special.
If I’m not mistaken I think the Camo was to honor Dime bag Darrell’s memory.
He had the camo while Dimebag was still alive
Was to honor his dad. Started using his around 1919 eternal era
I believe his original camo guitar is called Stormin’ Norman after General Schwarzkopf. It may be a refinished Norlin maple fretboard Custom, but don’t quote me on that.
Dime painted the original one after zakk loved his camo guitar and they'd bust it out when they had parties etc
A great review. One of my favorite ones. Thanks Trogly for this one. Looking forward to the next review!!
Yeah, Zakk Wylde is certainly one in a Million, a Crazy Strong Player, a Crazy Great Player.
Cool Guitars too. Not so much my style but there is no denying they are hot instruments.
Great Review, Thank You.
BTW, I watched the Video of Zakk shredding on an acoustic guitar, I wouldn't have been surprised to see that flattop guitar explode or burst into flames the way he was dominating it in every way possible.
The Voodoo Child cover?
It's so cool to not only see the quality of your videos increase over the years, but also your watching your playing progress. I remember seeing an older video and all you cared about was clean finger style. Now you shred like a wylde man! Great job as always! I wish they would offer norlin era reissues with abr-1 bridges and maple necks. I would love one without a bullseye.
I remember this one, I wanted this so bad when I was younger. It was everything I wanted in a wylde Sig les paul
Zakk knows what he is doing.. EMG's in a LP sound amazing.
Love the maple and that stinger!
I love that you bring up the signature phenomenon. I have a Washburn Dime 333 that I've always wanted since I was a kid. Dimebag Darrell was always my hero. Every time I pick up that guitar I feel a sense of confidence. I always thought it was just me.... Great review!
Have you and would you review a Dean Dave Mustaine signature guitar?
Wow what are those flying black stripes?
No clue
I think he's just reviewing a neck
I see you on every video
@@des-lv4tp yes
I just picked up a 2006 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Zakk Wylde Camo Bullseye......and it's freaking awesome. Made in South Korea at the Saein plant. Has EMG HZ pickups. For a 2006.....this in in near perfect condition. Blessed to have it.
@The Trogly's Guitar Show
It is so cool watching your personal growth over time.
* Playing improvement over the years
* Better quality videos and productions
* Better quality reviews
*Awesome guitars
This show was great in the beginning, I had no idea how GREAT it would become in time.
My favorite, has got to be the Steve Howe ♥️ That guitar is so beautiful, awesome grain.
Thanks for all that you do and share with us. Thanks.
Please get a Wylde Audio guitar!
Love that you made so many different words to say “copy of”
This signature guitar phenomenon he's talking about is so legit I got a John Mayer Silver Sky some time ago and even though I mostly play my partscaster I always feel significantly better when I pick up that Silver Sky it's a completely different world
Great tip about the shipping and battery removal.
I knew that video soon as you showed the pic!! His rendition of "Mississippi Queen" that night was ridiculous!!
Came here from instagram! Love your stuff
Jeff Conley same
Zakk originally wanted his Les Paul painted with a cool vertigo design so that when he hit the stage with Ozzy for the first time, he would not look too much like Randy Rhoads with his white Les Paul. He was presented the painted guitar just before he took the stage and saw that the guy had misunderstood him and painted a giant bullseye on the guitar. He completely hated it!!!!
But he had to start the show so the guitar went on stage and quickly became his signature.
The camouflage version was inspired by his friend Dimebag.
I absolutely love your channel
In late 98 or early 99, there was a Zakk signature Les Paul that was just a completely raw looking top. No bullseye graphic, looks almost unfinished. I think they came out right before, or at the same time as the grail bullseye Les Pauls, and I only remember seeing them on Japanese websites. So they may have only been sold for the Japanese market. Another little fun note - the "gumby zakk" on the back of the headstock was handdrawn by the original Black Label Society drummer Phil Ondich, who is a friend of mine. Never received a cent for it (or even a free guitar) lol But it's his artwork!
EMG's and metal go together like peanut butter and jelly! Well done Austin.
I met Zakk back in the early 90s. Really nice dude.
These are pretty cool guitars!! I just saw a prototype epiphone version of this sell on ebay! I was going to bid on it but a day later it went up in price astronomically !! Never seen a proto of this before kinda cool but of course the gibby is better because it has the good active emg 81-85 and not the passive emg-hz's. Kinda like the buzzsaw too!! Nice review man!
Zakk Wylde is a true original, he called Jim Marshall (Of Marshall Amps) "Dad" and refers to anyone he respects as "Father" (etc. Father Phil, Father Ed). I used to have a Zakk Wylde Epiphone bullseye that someone had modded with the proper EMG 81/85 set. I know what you mean about the "power" that thing sounded absolutely monstrous. Could've just be the pickups but hey-ho.
That custom V still makes me feel funny in my pants. I’d love to have one
The combination of the comment and the profile pic is just way too much for me too handle
@@otavio048 good shit right there 😝
Scratch Remover works really well. You will be surprised how big a scratch that stuff will remove.
Nice guitar . I watched that acoustic shred video .... pretty awesome stuff . Thanks bro
Nice that you played the sword!
Jesus, that tone at the beginning was massive!
Love it rock it! There a gibson les paul costume anggreen metalic bullseye sickest of them all
4:52 holy moly you’re right about all of his signature guitars !!
Who knew ?
I love it! So great.
It is supposed to be over the top let your inner child shine.
Another stunning looking guitar, someone is going to be a very lucky owner.
I would like to see you do one of his own personal line of guitars. I'm really curious now. I've only seen Zakk play them online. And sounds good. But he can also rock on a "hello kitty" guitar.... Thanks Justin!
Nice intro trog! Do you only deal in high end guitars? As a fan of the channel, id like to buy a junker off of you to do a high integrity mod out of it.
That is hands down the best looking one of the bunch
The Zakk BFG bullseye is my favorite.
Zakk Wylde Gibson Las Paul man I Love it looks great and sounds great it kicks ass just like he does . 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Troy Frost / troyster 😎Cool Riffs 👾
One of the things I love about the Zakk sig models is the maple instead of the mahogany necks. My favorite personal guitar is my modified ‘77 Les Paul Deluxe with a 3 piece maple neck. The awful finishes are the only thing that ever kept me from wanting a Zakk model.
I much prefer the EMG 85 in the bridge and a 60 in neck.
you need to chk out a early 90s srv strat for fender friday! 92 was the best year , they are in a league of their own! you wont be disappointing!
I never thought you would rock some active pickups. You 've embraced the dark side, no turning back know. Welcome!
Wait wait wait, did you play that little intro bit? All of it? Including the lead? That's some good stuff man, you're getting real good real fast
Yes, I played it. Sounds big, but it was pretty simple stuff haha The Drop C tuning makes all the difference
Zakk got this guitar made and Dime had a camo Washburn signature made around the same time as well, they featured both together on the cover of Guitar World
I'd like to see a Solar guitar with evertune bridge for review.
I always learn something from your videos. I didn't know they don't put lacquer on the maple necks and I've played one😂😂😂
that guitar is love
A really hard target to hit. A friend of mine finally found a black and white bullseye after 10 years
Austin, what did you use to clean these raw maple fretboards? I just bought a used 2012 black beauty with a maple board and I’m sure it’ll need some cleaning. Thanks in advance!
Sweeeeet guitar! Would definitely rock. Have you ever tried out a LP bass guitar? Just asking:)
He bought the guitar already camoed I believe and added the bullseye. This brings back memories of college lol.
I'd love to see you review some Wylde Audio stuff for comparison!
I don't think I've ever thought that guitar looked good until I saw it shown under the light. Never noticed how intricate the paint and even the blending of the paint is under the bullseye. Kinda want one hahhahaha
Guitars one of those man made objects that are not only beautiful solid works of art to look at while at the same time being a practical object for producing beautiful vibrations.
Perfect example of where form and function meet to produce pure magic!
I really like the color of the neck
I actually love it. ..... Imagine a band with a lead player using My Eyes v. And a rhythm player using this
My eyes V?
I always thought it would look better with an ebony fretboard, and finished neck, do you think there are any silver and black bullseyes out there? the one he used in the Ozzy "Gets me through" video? I'd love to see that up close
Zakk has the best guitars, imo.
It would be great if you could get his moderne model, it's straight up weird yet awesome. I think it's called like the moderne of doom or something, I can't remember, it's whacky!
You missed 2 of his Epiphones, he had Custom Plus versions of the camo and bullseye that came with active EMGs vs the normal customs that had the HZ pickups.
Get a fender edge signature strat. I’d love to hear your thoughts
I'm just waiting for that one time when his hands light up under the blacklight.
The cameo looked great but what killed this was the bulls eye ontop...
I love Les Pauls and my passive EMG's.
I have the White bullseye I love that guitar
Yup that’s on my wish list
Mr Trogly, check out the 95 Gibson LP standard in Brunswick blue sparkle on Reverb. It looks right up your alley bro 😎👍
18:24 are you in drop C tuning there ? My Solar guitar on my lap is in standard tuning and I matched your playing with C
Stormin Norman!!!
Easy way to remove the swirly scratches try a dual action car polisher. I use Rupes polishers and polish and get a mirror finish.
what's the neck profile on those Zakk Les Pauls ? I've heard it's pretty meaty, as are his own line Odins.
I wonder if anyones thought about makling the back covers with a magnet attachment like battery covers on a vape mod yet.seems ;like that would work ok ?
these were done so much better than the new stuff he's putting out
I don't understand why any player would concern themselves with buckle rash, but they do. A headscratcher to me.
A back scratcher...
@@TheDogPa LOL
very nice guitar
The camo ZW.. you either love it or hate it ! I personally loved it at first sight and own a little older model than the one you’re reviewing. Mine’s 397. :)
Mine is 38 😉
Camo with maple fretboard. I have been looking for this, didnt know what year model it was. Probably wont be able to find one now.
Just seen an Epiphone Lp in a pawn shop here in town with that finish....wait..close
I always wanted to see Gibson make a shattered mirror finish like he used on the Miracle Man video.
Wow this is an old video I clicked courtesy of your “you might like this one…” at the end of today’s video.
Hey trogly do a review on the Gibson Lucy replica
Austin - You see those small scratches on this guitar? I am telling you buddy, buy some "Players Kit" guitar polish and you can remove most if not all of those!! I had a bunch on my Sully Erna and it took them right off!! Trust me, spend the $25 on Amazon and give it a try.
Ya know, when you first showed is this in the other video I did not like it at all! But as soon as this video started and I saw it after you polished it up, I kind of dig it now! I love the maple neck Les Paul's and wish Gibson would go back to them!! Maple is a much harder wood than Mahogany and they may have played a role in why Gibson went to Mahogany, easier to tool.
Duh austin, god damn it austin. Learn stuff austin
@@pvtlehto lol.. now I wasn't meaning it like that. I have tried all kinds of polishes and stuff and this players kit blew my mind with how well it works and took off those annoying polishing scratches.
@@alabamahebrew i need to do that to my sg, its flawless other then those tiny scratches that almost look like they will wipe right off but wont
@@pvtlehto buy the players kit man I'm telling you it works great! You get two tubes of it, a red and s blue. The red is for like everyday use and the blue is for removing scratches. Only do a small section at a time. Apply the blue just like regular polish, then rub it off using some elbow grease. If there are still scratches do it again. I found it usually takes 3 or 4 times to get those polish scratches off. Then once they are gone use the red whenever you are going to polish it as normal. I have a couple of black guitars and it worked wonders. Amazon sells it for $25.
@@alabamahebrew oh yeah, if it works well on black guitars it should take them off my cherry finish super easy
You totally need to check out Zakk's cover band Zakk Sabbath!!!!
Had the camo by epiphone.
Passive emgs...made in
Korea...as good as any USA gibson..... read that Zack wanted the bullzye graphic to be more of a spiral pattern.
Closer to his later designed
Oden guitars.....wish I kept
It now...oh well.
Would love to have a
Mike McCready R9 reissue Les Paul. Don't have 8 grand lying around though.
OK is it weird that I like this beast of a guitar.
That camo Les Paul is my ABSOLUTE favorite signature guitar. If you're not crazy about it, you can send it to me!
cool guitar wish it had black inlays
In certain light it goes desert camp color?
26:10 agreed about how that strap setup flops around.
There are better and cheaper solutions to keep a strap from falling off.
The green screen effects are making the guitar change colour
Placebo's a wonderful thing
So how much would one of those Gibson Les Paul Camo cost second hand in new condition??
10:00 I really wish more guitar manufacturers used quick connectors to make it easier to swap out pickups, pots and output jacks.
Surely it would save them money too in the QC area if someone does a dodgy soldering job ?
