Years back I lived on a street that bordered the Hip Hop Fish & Chicken on Benning Road in NE and the EXACT SAME THING was going on there! Seeing as they were located at the top of the block, whatever they were dumping ran down 23rd Place, 25th Place, and the alley between. I can only describe the odor as a mix of sewage and fish. This wasn't like a few buckets of the liquid either, it was pouring out of the back door like they were pumping it out. Myself and some other neighbors confronted them and they tried to tell us that the basement had flooded. The problem was that it wasn't the first time this had happened. We ended up calling 311 and the District promptly sent an officer to inspect what was going on. Within minutes of being on the scene, the officer had EMS and Hazmat respond. Though we didn't find out what exactly it was, the restaurant was closed for a few weeks after the incident. So my question is, what is Hip Hop Fish & Chicken doing as a chain that would create this same scenario in multiple locations? PG County needs to get its act together and investigate what's actually going on and not leave these people exposed to something potentially hazardous!
