Yes, on reflection I think I should have tried my cordless impact driver on a lower setting. But at least they're out now and as we won't be re-using them there's no harm done. If one of the heads had chewed up it would have meant a lot of messy work to remove it.
Try using a parrelel pin punch held square on the head of the screw Give it couple of sharp taps with a hammer This loosens the thread and the slight compression on the head of the screw to aluminium fit will loosen Use a spanner on the screwdriver blade if necessary
Those two case screws looked challenging. Thankfully they gave in without the screw slots getting chewed up.
