  • This is one of a series of videos covering the full dismantling, restoration and rebuild of a Norton Commando engine and gearbox. This particular video shows the start of the process to remove the inner gearbox cover, which involves removing the gearbox mainshaft nut in the inner cover. At the same time the nut holding the gearbox sprocket (left hand thread) was removed as it was just easier to do both at the same time.

Thanks Chris for the video. I'm not as lucky getting my sprocket nut off while in the bike, but I am working on a solution without removing the shaft from the gearbox. BTW, got my T150 up and running, but needs some fine tuning with the carbs😏

Tuning the carbs can be difficult. The main thing is to ensure they aren't blocked or badly worn. If they are then you will never be able to tune them.

Carbs are new premiers as per your experience you described in your book. Getting closer though.

Oh, that's good. Just warm the engine, set the tick over to slightly fast and then turn one airscew in and out at a time. When the engine revs are fastest that's it that carb is, tuned. Repeat for each carb. If the revs don't rise and fall as you adjust one of the airscrews there's a problem with that carb. Good luck. 👍
