Leonard and Togo finally got recognition almost 100 years later.
    That’s a shame.

Yeah, infact Togo run more longer than Balto. But I respect them(Togo&Balto)

Balto got all the credit. So glad Togo got his time now, over 200 miles all together he better get a movie made about him. I bet his breed line is still around today.

David Garber yeah, even fox who ran with Balto didn’t get any credit.

The dog who plays Togo in the movie is apparently Togo's descendent! Saw that in an interview Dafoe and Nicholson

It was never Balto's intention to take all the credits. It was the person who proclaimed Balto as the hero and Gunnar and those people who didn't even correct that misconceptions. ✌️✌️

his line has a specific name called the Seppala sleddog, sadly however they are going extinct and the only ones basically left at this point are reaching retiring age, but there are still plenty of crossbreeds that look similar to legitimate Seppalas and have a similar temperament. Also, Togo and Balto were meant for totally different uses, Balto was a cargo dog and Togo was a racing dog, which is why Togo was able to go so far.

Don't blame the dog who was just doing his job. Think again where to point the finger.
Great job to BOTH BALTO, TOGO....and ALL OF THE SLED DOGS WHO BROUGHT THE MEDICINE TO NOME.💕

This movie breaks my heart literally specially when they recognized the guy named Gunnar who took all the credits. The blame here was not to Balto but to the person who proclaimed Balto as the hero and those people who didn't even correct that misconceptions. Their story have waited for almost a hundred years to be told and recognized. Really spectacular. The cast and everyone in this movie definitely deserves an award.

All the dogs and their sled riders that played a part in this were heroes. Balto definitely got the most credit but they’ll all are heroes

I just finished writing a book about Togo and Leonhard Seppala, which will be out in about 10 weeks. Togo's mother didn't even arrive in Alaska until March 1913. Togo was likely born in 1916 so was nine when he did the serum run, which is at the edge of prime for a sled dog.

I love this movie! After So many years the real hero was recognized- but for me Seppala still is as pragmatic at the end of his life as he was at the beginning. In reality he gave Togo away to the Polad Sprin resort in Main and some lady was taking care of him for the next 2 years till Togo was put down due to pain in joints etc. As for me, Seppala just abandoned his friend who literally made his career - he could let the old dog stay with him cuz that’s all what the loyal Togo really wanted - to be with his owner who he loved to death.

There is one concern about this movie and the effects of society's response to it. Humans are tendy and as such people seeing this will now want to buy a Husky. This is excellent; however, there has been a rise in abandoned or impound Huskies because the people who watch movies like Snow Dogs don't understand that these dogs take a lot of work to raise, unlike other breeds. As such, they get rid of the dogs via abandonment or dog pound.
So please, if you watch this movie and decide you want a dog like this, understand and research what will be required of you to raise one.

Dafoe was the perfect pick 4 Seppala..oh how many times have we called our own husky Koda Satan..lol destroyed a few things and loves to pull so I wonder if he's a descendent of one of seppalas dogs..he knows when he's been bad tho a d hates being in trouble..such a smart breed..seriously..he found his present under the tree.of course he did..it was a bone😁bit only got it when we started opening ours..he has to do everything we do

If you want to see these dogs today....togo and fritz are at the Iditarod trail museum in willow Alaska...balto is in the Cleveland museum in Cleveland Ohio...in 2018 balto and the curator from the Cleveland museum went to willow for the ceremonial start of the Iditarod...this was the first time since 1926 that he came home

One another interest fact, is that my big sister's husband is related to Leonhard Seppala and named their son after him.

While yes it is a selfless act, but also his daughter had gotten sick and was part of the reason why he did the run.
