Echoes of Wisdom | Zelda TRAILER ANALYSIS

- Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and I could not be more excited. In this video I detail everything we know so far about EoW based on the announcement trailer. This is the first ever canonical Zelda game where we'll get to play as Zelda, herself. It's not the Legend of Link: The Adventure of Zelda, but everyone thinks that'd be a pretty funny name for it.
Thanks for watching and reading. I really hope you enjoy this little bit of news coverage, and I look forward to learning more about this game and creating future videos on this topic.

I'm excited about this announcement and look forward to learning more. Thank you for watching! Did I miss anything cool?
One thing I want to mention that i've seen no one else talk about. The amount of echoes you can summon is determined by the triangles following Tri. Every echo has 1 or 2 triangles on top of their icon and when you summon them, the triangles behind Tri are used to summon it. It looks like you start off with 3 but we also see you have 4 later in the trailer.
That's a good thought. I noticed how tri starts with 3 then has 4, but with so little info i didnt want to go too far with guesses or theories just yet
Zeltik talks about it in his video.
The Redeads and the flying deku thing require 3
I saw this in a comment on Arlo’s trailer reaction. That person (don’t remember their name 🙈) also said that you can see in the quick menu and above the summoned echo how many triangles each item requires
There's also a few possible interpretations of the Japanese subtitle and word choice which potentially play into the themes of the game and possibly the story/context of the antagonist or overall conflict.
In Japanese, echoes are かりもの (karimono), which normally means "borrowed/lent objects" but can also mean "fictitious/temporary/hypothetical objects" if you ignore conventional usage for a more figurative interpretation (this is also left up to interpretation since the subtitle uses only kana かりもの instead of using kanji 借り物; using kanji makes the potential meanings fewer since 借 means "borrowed" while かり has a large number of potential meanings).
The subtitle in Japanese ("chie no karimono", literally "wisdom's borrowed objects") can be interpreted in various ways, from "borrowed objects of wisdom," (i.e., the echoes) to "temporary objects made of wisdom" (also the echoes), and "harvested objects of wisdom," (狩物) and perhaps rather figuratively as "illusory things made by wisdom" (仮物) and "wisdom's things that have been cut/clipped away" (刈物) (which could refer to the rifts across Hyrule, which are cuts in the princesses kingdom, i.e., wisdom's things).
Those all rely on interpreting "kari" differently while keeping the meaning of "mono" the same; if you change up "mono" the number of possible interpretations increases further and become much less likely to be purposeful, but might include "borrower of wisdom," "the cause of the borrowing of wisdom," "wisdom's reason for borrowing (something)," etc. etc.
You can also interpret "chie" as "stacks or many layers" (千重), though they purposefully use the kanji 知恵(which specifically means wisdom). If you consider the title with this interpretation though, it means "(The Legend of Zelda) Stacks of Borrowed Things" which is hilariously literal given the literal stacks of tables and old beds we see in the gameplay footage.
how is no one talking about Link being left handed again 😃
That's an astute observation. I'll have to bring that up in a little while, when i have enough new thoughts to make a followup deep dive
Love the username change
Thanks! I didn't even mean to do it on a day with such a cool new happening with Nintendo, but I'll take it as a sign that it was the right decision.
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast I was so confused at first when I saw this video in my Subscription. “I dont remember subscribing to that channel??”, but after going to the page and seeing the banner, it all made sense. I hope your channel continues to grow and prosper!
something interesting: the zora floor and pillars are reminiscent of tears of the kingdom‘s zora architecture
I mean the water temple architecture to be precise
Thanks for the recap. I saw the Nintendo announcement but this really helped me understand what the game is about. I’m new to gaming but rather old in life (way past 60), and your video gave me some very helpful context. Good job, my friend!
surprised you didn't mention how the summoned creatures glow yellow after a while. I imagine that means they're about to disappear
Really excited about this game!
Zora race war I assume there’s gonna be a dispute you have to solve between the two different kinds of zora in the series
This trailer is extremely reminiscent of ALBW, which has my favorite gameplay in the series.
Yup, I just pray the dungeons are comparable
There's no way this is how I found out
Also how I found out 😂😂
Same 😂😂
Great coverage! Thank you!
Hope we still get that tp remake JUSTICE FOR THE AGATHA SIDE QUEST
Crossing my fingers for it being on the new system! Makes sense to me to release some long-requested remakes/remasters while they bulk up the title list and work on a new Zelda. Let us catch all the bugs!!
It seems that the little triangles are split between echos, possibly indicating lifespan
Yeah, I'm wondering how long echoes last, if theyre on a timer or if the enemies disappear after taking one hit, etc
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast I think the enemy echoes are on a timer, since the Moblin and ReDead both start to blink yellow after some time. I assume the color of yellow was chosen to symbolize the triforce.
you are the reason I found out about a new zelda game. also, a bit sad about the name change, but I accept it. The Tony Express had more personality, but I know that your videos focus exclusively on Zelda
Aye Tony! I'm excited for the game but I'm on the same boat as you; was hoping to see a remake of the first Zelda game. Nonetheless this is very cool
I still believe they'll do it someday, but I'm excited to see how this new one plays
Surprised you didn't mention that this is Allttp's map
Is it though? Death mt is off to the left in that title shot towards the end of the trailer with a snowy mountain range to the right
Yeah no I dont think it is, there’s a bunch of stuff that wasn’t in alttp
What I want to know is, where dose this fit in the timeline?
Same, but for now it's too early to tell. Anyone claiming to have the answer is only theorizing, but it's fun to think about and I can't wait to find out
0:38 Breath of the wild IS inspired, because that has not change.
IT SHOULD BE Legend of zelda: The missing link
WHOOOO
I miss your old username. 😢
WHY CAN’T HARM COME TO THE TOTK NPCS, THEY DESERVE IT MOST
4min gang
First: I think I was unsubbed due to the username change, but I'm not sure. Second: What if the amount of triangles Tri has is proportional to the amount of time echoes stay in the world? Third: Did you notice that the hearts were oddly spaced out? Is it just me? Four: (edit) I think the hearts might be as saturated if not more saturated than in BOTW, but I'm not 100% sure.
Edit#2: My second hypothesis is probably incorrect, since the triangle amount decreases as Zelda places water blocks.
Also forgot to mention the d-pad icon on the left of the screen.
Also just noticed the bed has a "Rest" prompt.
@@IlyaZvyagintsev-el2gjyeah it seems like the ability is limited by the number of triangles Tri has
Also, it's interesting to see Gerudo Town at about 3:15. Evidence that this is indeed Gerudo Town: Woman dressed in Gerudo attire standing in a town in a desert, with walls surrounding the town, with a (potentially artificial) oasis, and with small, yellow-beige brick huts with flat rooftops.
bro you changed your name
Decided to rebrand since this is a dedicated zelda channel
Honestly I'm a little disappointed that they've re-used the artstyle for LA remake 1 to 1. Reason being, I feel like since a distinction was made between the real world and the dream, the artstyle of the dream isn't what the real world looks like. Not a big deal of course, just a nitpick.
Also, technically you can control zelda in spirit tracks.
Maybe it is another dream 🤯🤯🤯 doubt it tho
Uh oh, I've not played spirit tracks! What do you mean by "technically"?
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast I think she’s follows you or sum I don’t remember
In that she controls a type of enemy, whose movement you can control with the stylus
@TheZeldaEnthusiast Have you seen the smash brothers ultimate move for zelda? She constructs the suit of phantom armor and sends it out. In game, she possesses the armor and you can control what she does/where she moves.
You really should play spirit tracks, it is incredible.
I would've taken a TotK dlc rather than this. I don't like this art style. Link's awakening and Wind Waker are good games, but i despise the art.
It's all a matter of personal preference. I personally like both TotK's and Link's Awakening's art styles, but everyone has their own opinions.
@@IlyaZvyagintsev-el2gj yeah
wah wah wah
@@abokoblin2156 also the game looks so easy
agree fr
Lmao i just started crying cuz this solidified the fact that the world and story of botw/totk are truly over🥹 i grew very attached to those two but maybe eow will be the perfect opportunity for me to finally get into the previous games too :)
