I think maybe too much emphasis on aesthetics and hating the company, but no review on the actually mouse. No mouse testing, gaming analysis, weight comments etc. The thing with Finalmouse, they probably are a tiny group of people who wanted to make a mouse. They aren’t a multimillion dollar company like Logitech or Corsair or Razer etc. I work at a family business with 2 other employees and you know, it’s just like that. They are targeting a niche market, and fairly ambitious in launching a product that competes performance wise with these huuuuge companies. Mouse shape is the most important thing. I'd take a heavy mouse with the perfect shape for my hand over a light mouse that doesn't fit my hand comfortably.
And you can just remove the lead weights on most mice (I’m targeting the weight of about a US quarter, I think 10 grams would be heavy...). Obviously I could just sketch and have a custom PCB printed for dirt cheap, but where’s the fun in that? So I’ve been drilling out the PCB of a cheap mouse (thankfully I have 2, because number one got paper thin on the scroll wheel with 4 paper thin spikes, and then the grip area (like tread on a tire) was then drilled on the outside. The heaviest part was the business card I used for the gliders and the clickers (2 layer thick for the main button, ironically it now has a more consistent and precise click than OEM...), I also improved its low accuracy sensor by tilting it correctly (factory had the optics off by like 2 degrees), like 2 inches of the super thin cable weigh more than the mouse, and you don’t even need real grips for it, it just kind of sticks to your hand like a piece of paper. Now it’s gone from glorified RGB office mouse to “gaming mouse” (it still has functioning RGB lighting, I mean, I may file down the protruding solder contacts and shorten capacitor legs for weight savings, but I’m keeping that RGB!). Final revision will have open crater in the middle, I’ll 3d print sides only where my hand would contact the mouse, as my palm would never touch it anyways, I basically need like 2 little nub/walls where my fingers go to simulate the sides of a normal mouse. Next is removing the cable rubber housing exposing the hair thick wires only as the protective insulation weighs way more than the mouse, and I’ll be honest, went a bit extreme drilling and sitting excess PCB traces until they were hair thick and so it kind of needs a couple solder spots where I went too extreme and broke the connections, lol! This is the kind of stuff I do when I’m bored, haha!
