    Every time I see your lathe work makes me wished I paid attention at school metalwork classes....outstanding. You could hear the difference in the shroud, as you say though, not a great deal. The felt certainly makes it a thud and deadens it a bit. great work.

    As you say, it's always difficult to record the difference in sound but I would say that (same as with all my same efforts like this) it usually just highlights the hammer/valve noise, making that the loudest noise after. I have often wondered if anyone has made some form of sound absorbing cover for around the hammer/valve area of a air rifle. I know it always sounds louder when out and in use because, especially on a bullpup, it's right next to your ear. Something for you to work on.
    As usual, another excellent video. 👏 👍

      you are spot on, we try to quieten down the action with guides and delrin tipped hammer, etc before we do a mod or shroud for this reason but as you say the action always ends up being the loudest part

    Stunning job as we see you perform on every video, just a shame you don't do custom work for customers. I suspect you would do a much better job than some of the so called

      @julianchambers8372 just use curling rollers ,felt, and washers ,I've done the same to my 97k ,but being a springer, you can't really tell ,but I've also fitted a stainless steel piston spring sleeve and the twang is not as bad but I've only put 8 pellets through the new gun lol ,it needs running in

    What's UNF stand for and what's the point of a shroud?

    • @sub12airgunners
      @sub12airgunners  8 місяців тому +1

      UNF stand for Unified Fine just a thread type, the shroud is just a container for the pressure wave that leaves the barrel of a pcp when fired, it slows the wave down and restricts the expansion this helps to make less of a bang

    Just converted my HW100 to buddy bottle and form stock but the supplied shroud is not the best, movement after a few shots its held in place with a grub screw, poor really. Do you know of anyone that could design a better shroud that will enable me to fit a moderator on the end as well. I have taken the shroud off now and I am using just a Wierhauch moderator, but the gap between barrel and bottle spoils it a bit.

    • @sub12airgunners
