    Buy yourself a velvet headband for under the scarf. You will be amazed at how well your scarf stays on. I was sceptical but I'm so glad I tried it, there's no going back. X

    I've never seen the 2nd way of wearing a scarf but I love it! Very 1940's.
    I recently bought a few vintage style bonnets from a company called The Bonnit. Very cute retro designs to keep our vintage hair dry in the rain. ⛆

    Interesting video! I'm not one for wearing head scarves, but I like the vintage hairdos. However, that last one, which we call "chignon banane" in French, I have never managed to succeed in doing, haha! I hope your video will help me achievethe look, as I find this particular hairstyle so elegant.

    I like to clip those scarves down with the almond shaped metal ones ( what are those called) they look classic and elegant and you won't be fixing the scarf so much. Bobby pins work ok too but the clips are best

    All three are gorgeous. :) I bought two headscarves recently which are 70cm x 70cm which were of the larger variety that I could find online, so I assumed they were more than big enough. Either they're not or I just have a huge head, LOL. Could you let me know the dimensions of yours in the video MB? Also where do you find such pretty patterned scarves? I've searched 'head scarf' and 'square neck scarf' among others but the results are always very plain, like single colour scarves.

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  7 років тому +4

      The second look uses a 70cm scarf but I struggle to do the first look with it. My guess would be the bigger one is roughly 90cm. In terms of finding the scarves. I have zero luck online with scarves. I just pick them up whenever I spot them in op-shops or second hand shops.

    Hello... what size scarf did you use for the first style. How many inches square? I see where a large scarf is needed to tuck in, to get that hat -style!

  • @vanessamvarela

    The second style looks almost exactly like what the local Russian-American girls wear. They come from a traditional religion and must wear their hair covered. The "caps" are handmade often with headbands sewn inside, and made to match beautiful, vibrant homemade dresses.

      I used to have hair past my waist, and the way I did it was this.
      1) Brush all hair smoothly to the nape of your neck as if you're making a very low ponytail at the very base of your head.
      2) Twist all of your hair at the nape of your neck very tightly, all the way down the length of your hair.
      3) Pull your twisted rope of hair straight up over your head and gently push the hairs near the base of the rope up along the back of your head where you want the chignon to be. This will make the smooth final shape of your chignon.
      4) Keep your twisted rope of hair tight so it begins to roll into itself. Neatly tuck the rest of this length of hair rope under your chignon to give it volume in the back.
      5) Pin the smooth chignon over the pile of hair, hairspray it, and you're all set.

    Firstly this Woman is Gorgeous! 2ndly, why do these vintage enthusiast you tubers always have such thick lovely hair...I have thinning hair and which makes achieving these styles nearly impossible. Ughhhh. Sorry, but feeling some serious hair envy. So, 1st step one is actually get a wig or have naturaly thick hair.

    Weird question...but does anyone have tips for wearing vintage hair and workouts?
    Someone said to work out in the evenings and do my hair after but because of work I can only workout in the mornings. Does anyone have any tips about what they do hen they wear vintage hair and how to protect it when working out? Or what to do when it’s gym time

    • @tokkia1384
      @tokkia1384 5 років тому +1

      siren electric hey I do this all the time! I used to just tie it into a ponytail, and then when you go to shower use a nice tight fitting shower cap. Keep it out of your face and towel off often so you’re not getting sweat in it if you’re very sweaty (I’m not, so I’m lucky in that sense). Nowadays that the weather is cooler I just do a turban around my hair and workout in the turban. The turban Is better because using an elastic can mess up certain styles. I use a light breathable soft cotton scarf so it doesn’t make me too hot. Of course you could just tie the scarf arouNd your hair with your rollers, go to the gym like that and then brush out after you work out, but I prefer to just do it at home and then protect my set while I work out with my scarf .

    • @sirenelectric143
      @sirenelectric143 4 роки тому

      Tokki A thank you so much!! Love these ideas! Will probably try all 3 you suggested and see which I prefer. But I actually think I may lean towards brushing out my hair at home and just protecting it like you said
      Thank you! Sorry for the late reply never got notified 😂
