nice I just chopped em all up and covered the gardens with the itty bitty pieces so they can decompose under the snow and i had no aphids so it's good.
I'm still so in awe (and jealous😂) of the beauty of your "new" place. Can only dream of something like that. Happy new year Shaun and Mrs Chillichump! Looking forward to your adventures this year :)
Happy new year to you and your loved ones! Good to see the chickens got a nice alternative house under the circumstances. Wishing you good fortune preparing for the new season.
I like to rake my soil from the pots into the lawn each fall. I get new soil every year. I do this to avoid bringing insects into my greenhouse because their eggs stay alive through the winter. New soil costs me about 100 bucks. The lawn loves it to
Do you keep any plants for multiple seasons? Some of my Scotch bonnets are around 8 years old and fantastic producers. I usually take them out of the pot and put fresh potting mix (your recipe is great!) into the bottom of the pot and put them back in.
I overwinter a couple plants. But it can get expensive to heat through the winter. And I found that the fruit from older plants aren't as tasty or spicy as the first couple of years
@ChilliChump ah I'm in Australia so we don't have that heating problem 😉 Interesting about the flavour of older plants, I'll have to grow a new bonnet next season to compare. Keep up the great work, love the channel and thanks for all the advice in the videos.
I can imagine with the dust in the main greenhouse. With the plants dying and drying out, makes a perfect habitat for mold with the residual moisture in the air.
Thank you, and you too! Yes there are more CC Jalapeno seeds coming. First batch sold out quick. Make sure you are signed up to the newsletter to get alerted. First choice will be going to Patreon and YT Member supporters, then will go public with the rest. Likely Monday or Tuesday next week.
Happy New Year Shaun! When I heard you mentioning seed starting, my ears perked right up lol If your compost were covered over during the winter, would the decay process speed up? This morning the temperature here is -9C and cooling with snow and wind moving in. The moisture is really needed in these parts. However inside the starting mix has been dampened and seeding in is beginning. See you in the morning. Stay Spicy! -Bob...
Happy new year to you and Mrs CC, have you thought about doing an experiment with your worms and your old compost to see if they can process it and add any benefit?
Happy new year Barry! The worms wouldn't really process the used soil. They need food to be able to process, so I guess you could use the old soil for bedding. But a better way would be to use processed vermicompost to amend the used soil, kind of like what I already do.
Have you considered processing 'due' peper stumps and root clumps through a wormcomposting system? My worms love that and return it into gold to re-enter it anywhere else in the system :-) Love your content!
I have a worm composting setup. I am breeding works at the moment to add to this pile I'm creating, so essentially they will be processing the stumps too! In the past I have put the roots directly in my work bins, they break those down eventually. Check out my composting channel to see my breeding efforts youtube.com/@VermiChump

Happy New Year Chillichump family. I am at the opposite stage to you, for me January is your July and the New Zealand summer is being stupid and cold
Bro, it's been hot! I can't handle anything over 25deg lol
Thank you. Happy new year to you as well!
Hopefully your summer improves!

Happy New Year Shaun, Mrs ChilliChump and Barney! Will you be getting any of your CC Jalapeno seeds in your seed store this year please? 🤔
@@ChilliChump Thanks Shaun. I am already signed up for the newsletter, so will keep my eye next week.
How long will it be before your chickens go back to their home? 🤔
I'm not sure. Last year they were locked down for about 3 months. Hopefully things are resolved quicker this time round!

I recycle my Tomato compost in.much the same way, so far no problems...
do you sort old fruit from the compost or just leave them, as thinking if the seeds would sprout in the compost?
Regards from Argentina 🇦🇷 Sterkte daar.
Chillis are actually perennials and will survive the winter if kept warm enough.
have you tried to reamend /no till?
That's what I am doing, reamending the soil. I just do it for a limited time like I mention.
I was on your live on the fiveth of January
Think of a MAD VOICE 😠 😡 Why The F
There was an issue with "slow mode" from youtube. Will be sorted out for the next livestream.
@ChilliChump Okay 👍 when are you on next time so I am able to ask you stuff?
Don't tell me what to do! I'll do whatever I want with my old chili plants! Bossy clickbait!
