Strange how occurences in life will connect, leading you on a path of discovery and awakening. I have pondered my existence in my current life and now i know why i am here. All the suffering ive endured was aimed to enlightenment..thank you for your part in this.
I’ve never listened to this before.. but I have high expectations. I want this to be the ultimate summation of premodern storytelling. A look at where stories that last come from, and what they tell us about ourselves that we so badly want to remember.
Thanks for this effort Vince. As an early teenager, I read this, and The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and his four-set mythology series (a little hard work), and listened to all recordings of his several lecture series (highly recommended if you can source them). The sheer wonder and wisdom of the man has enthused my life ever since. Alas, I lent my copy of this book to a guy I was temporarily working with (will I ever learn?!) who promptly disappeared. So, I'll give this a listen. Btw, what are the abridgments you made?
Today neither news channels are all about broadcasting real current events, nor universities are all about teaching such arcane knowledge and wisdom**. [Generalizing]
@@vincentbagnall No it is not. The PBS documentary contained 6 sections, which were likely edited. Whereas the book contains 8 chapters that include outtakes that are not featured on the doc, at least nothing free to public access. If you want a full audiobook, you'd likely have to search on Audible, Kobo etc.
The entire goal of the book isn't to educate, it is to pull the people away from belief in the perfect word of God. He wants us to think that the Bible isn't unique and that we can somehow make it up as we go. He man-made understanding is correct, but the word of God is incomplete and fluid and mystical. The devil is the greatest liar.
Yea I noticed he pulls lines from scripture and uses them extremely out of context - his assumption and explanation that the Christian/Jewish God was fearful in the beginning was so out there
Listening to this at work, parked down by the river. The city sleeps, as my soul ignites...life is good.

A wonderful blessing of a man. A thousand thankyous for uploading this remarkable film. Much love🙏
Marriage is not a social arrangement but a spiritual exercise.
It original was a social arrangement for passing on a legacy and reputation. Or atleast that's why Roman's and Greeks invented it.
Only if you're actively trying to be one in it
I read this book right before I took some really good acid when I was around 20 years old. I took a hundred mile walk and had a long talk with God.
Did you do a pilgrimage or something?
😂😂😂
What a great gift to yourself
100 miles? Tripping it was probably closer to 3 miles😵💫🤣
Wow! That’s amazing. Great use of psychotropic drugs… healing ❤
Thanks for uploading this. ; )

You are a hero with a marvellous journey ahead. I can sense it without even seeing you. The universe just told me I should remind you of that again.
Beautiful, thank you 🙏
Great narration
