I enjoyed listening to Joseph Campbell, around 1989. Deep thinker! I bought his series Power of the Myth. It put religion on a level of symbolism where it belongs.
It's not all mere symbolism. The fact the letters of Genesis 1:1 draws a two-torus is knowledge beyond the level of mere symbolism, although there is symbolism that draws from it. The toroid vortex creates a flame shape that forms every letter of the Hebrew alef-bet. The toroid flame is the Tree of Life and the tree bearing fruit whose seed is within itself. The flame of consciousness. It is also related to hero's journey but it is heavily connected to words. Words are how thought and consciousness flows from the singularity of one's mind, out into the expanse of the external world. It reflects the flow of consciousness/information from the one light to the expanse of the multitudes. The human biofield is a toroidal EM field. It is through the biofield that the body follows the mind. Whoever wrote the Torah, had an intimate knowledge of nature and of consciousness, displaying understanding beyond mere symbolism.

To me the hero journey is a parable of the sun's journey through the sky during the year and it long procession. The sun is the hero, the sun of god, the light, etc etc ... Without the sun we don't survive. In our past we had a much more intimate relationship with our daily survival and the sun was out biggest hero. These stories likely go way way back to pre-history. I can imagine early man telling these stories during campfires pointing to the constellations as they describe each character. Why are there always 12 knights? 12 apostles ? Once you understand the zodiac alot of old stories click. Remember it's only recently Astronomy eclipsed Astrology. For thousands of years when many of these myths were written Astrologers where looked upon with the highest regard. Originally Astrology was applied to learn Earth's cycles and master agriculture. It's only in our age the study "seems" useless. Columbus and many sailors until recently used Astrology to navigate the ocean. Astrology gets a bad reputation today but in it's time/era it was extremely valuable and useful information for human survival. I've been studying this for a while now, its so interesting. Looking at the Bible, these stories are all depictions of man fighting against his true nature. Noah internal fight is depicted with the harsh waters in the flood. Jesus fighting his true nature in the desert. Moses fighting with God before freeing the Israelites. Jacobs fight against his true nature before becoming Israel. There's so many connections and its so interesting.

You have just explained to me exactly what has been happening to me. My daughters death from cancer on 11/23/19... that is what woke me up. Now I cant stop learning an seeking. I'm 51an for over 20 yrs I was an addict an everything. I'm clean an your right there is absolutely no way I could go back. I truly believe that I had a NDE when my child passed even though I never died maybe it was because I died on the inside I ran out of time. All my yrs of active addiction I used to always say to myself I will get clean next week. Over 20 yrs later I watched my child slowly die. I ran out of time. Then her father was hit an killed by a drunk driver 18 mos after her. But I'm still the very best version of myself ever. I know shes with me I feel her love an there is absolutely no way I will ever let her down again.

My abbyys I moved onto cannabis into heavy drugs to the point of seeing all my life flash before me and I sat on a floor for two months straight going from 300 pounds to 170. I became homeless with nothing left. I’m at my revelation now, in treatment, learning lots, feeling motivated and writing my film thesis. Start paying attention to every detail and every sign in life it’s talking to you. The universe has your back.

No, it could've been presented way better, instead there was a WOKE undertone, an over-emphasis on females (not one male inventor mentioned...ONLY women...) and the example of Rey from the new Star Wars films is a bad example, for she is a Mary Sue. She just knows everything better than all the male characters, can do everything without training (better than the males, of course) and outperforms them all and everyone (except the baddies, no, even the baddies!) like her! I think this spiritual perspective on life is a very sensitive topic for most people and to actually try teach others at this point in the evolutionary process of man requires we embody it ourselves first and live it as role models. I think that ability to be anble to notice and change something in the world for the better comes from an understanding of the language of the world. Being able to understand someones countenance and read their body language.
I believe many don’t make it through this process alive because many don’t understand what is actually happening. I know I didn’t. I seriously thought I was dying and even drove myself to the ER. I was dying... the old broken, traumatized and sinful me had to die, in order to make room for the new and for God to be able to be purify, prune, purge and heal me fully. (John 15) for me was a living hell. I am so grateful and thankful I have made it to the finish line... well almost to the finish line. I’m proof there is a God, otherwise I wouldn’t have made it through my whole ordeal. It all started 3 years ago. I got teary eyed when, the man said that God was calling Samuel because I now understand God was/is calling me. Thank you for that. ❤️I believe He has been calling me for a lot of my life but I didn’t realize it until recently. Remember often times, things get worse before they get better. There will always be bad times in this life, the goal is to withstand the storm. God please bless, heal and protect everyone here!!❤️🙏🏼

You have just explained to me exactly what has been happening to me. My daughters death from cancer on 11/23/19... that is what woke me up. Now I cant stop learning an seeking. I'm 51an for over 20 yrs I was an addict an everything. I'm clean an your right there is absolutely no way I could go back. I truly believe that I had a NDE when my child passed even though I never died maybe it was because I died on the inside I ran out of time. All my yrs of active addiction I used to always say to myself I will get clean next week. Over 20 yrs later I watched my child slowly die. I ran out of time. Then her father was hit an killed by a drunk driver 18 mos after her. But I'm still the very best version of myself ever. I know shes with me I feel her love an there is absolutely no way I will ever let her down again.
This happened to me. Lost my dad a month ago to cancer. My abbyys I moved onto cannabis into heavy drugs to the point of seeing all my life flash before me and I sat on a floor for two months straight going from 300 pounds to 170. I became homeless with nothing left. I’m at my revelation now, in treatment, learning lots, feeling motivated and writing my film thesis. Start paying attention to every detail and every sign in life it’s talking to you. The universe has your back.

No, it could've been presented way better, instead there was a WOKE undertone, an over-emphasis on females (not one male inventor mentioned...ONLY women...) and the example of Rey from the new Star Wars films is a bad example, for she is a Mary Sue. She just knows everything better than all the male characters, can do everything without training (better than the males, of course) and outperforms them all and everyone (except the baddies, no, even the baddies!) like her! Wow!!! Woke Wars...
Luke Skywalker is a better example, for he was written more like a relatable human, who is flawed and has to pay a big price for that, who has to learn (not magically know the force and simply outperform the jedi master Luke ... the new star wars films are just badly written)

I loved this piece. Of course, the Hero's Journey is not new, and even thought in many instances I disagreed his real life application of the various Hero's Journey, Mr. Young's ability to bring myth into the modern world was great.

I think this spiritual perspective on life is a very sensitive topic for most people and to actually try teach others at this point in the evolutionary process of man requires we embody it ourselves first and live it as role models. Directly speaking about it to others won’t draw much attention at this time I’m afraid. It also challenges us spiritual folk to practice what we preach by actively utilizing and living out the wisdom we have gained and wish to impart to others. The beauty of it is, it is actually very simple for us to teach others ❤️🙏🏻

Wow, Brilliant talker, so down to Earth & taught me to realise why I've bounced all over this planet, because it was necessary, I found myself really understanding my life journey, in a new light, not so much the victim it seems but it was to have that experience of feeling so I could rise up after many mini metaphorical deaths to enrich my learning of the human condition! The more times u fail ,u realise Nothing Fails ,it all adds up to a fantastic voyage of Discovery 😋 I will listen to this again & look at the diagrams more intently & copy them in my diary, as they reveal there is method in the apparently crazy madness of the mystery on the road ,when we go seeking our true destiny! I've dreamt I've lived many other lives, so many times ,over & over, surely it's not impossible that we may have to live a thousand times to really understand what it is to be a Spirit having a human Experience LOVE this guy's whole outlook, wish he was my teacher, thank you for this information & it came just at the right time, I will sleep on it tonight & DREAM of my future journey in this body I inhabit for now!!!😉

I think that ability to be anble to notice and change something in the world for the better comes from an understanding of the language of the world. Being able to understand someones countenance and read their body language.
I believe many don’t make it through this process alive because many don’t understand what is actually happening. I know I didn’t. I seriously thought I was dying and even drove myself to the ER. I was dying... the old broken, traumatized and sinful me had to die, in order to make room for the new and for God to be able to be purify, prune, purge and heal me fully. (John 15) for me was a living hell. I am so grateful and thankful I have made it to the finish line... well almost to the finish line. I’m proof there is a God, otherwise I wouldn’t have made it through my whole ordeal. It all started 3 years ago. I got teary eyed when, the man said that God was calling Samuel because I now understand God was/is calling me. Thank you for that. ❤️I believe He has been calling me for a lot of my life but I didn’t realize it until recently. Remember often times, things get worse before they get better. There will always be bad times in this life, the goal is to withstand the storm. God please bless, heal and protect everyone here!!❤️🙏🏼
