Hi Soraya can I just say I think your art is on another level, it has totally inspired me so thank you... If you are going to use acrylics woodys an all of it including oil sticks is the oil stick fixture spray going to seal the other mediums? More videos on whimsical faces pleeeeease xxx
Hi Suzette…thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement 😊 I really appreciate it more than you could know. I will certainly do a video on faces & whimsical faces. About the fixative…I tend to NOT use any because it flattens out the colors but here are a few videos that you may find helpful mixed media fixative m.ua-cam.com/video/8FrrQpGaBEQ/v-deo.html Fixative m.ua-cam.com/video/Oo6ZAYIWobU/v-deo.html Sennelier Oil Pastel fixative review m.ua-cam.com/video/hTgxNtcS1nQ/v-deo.html Oil Pastel Varnish m.ua-cam.com/video/aowOySPK2ho/v-deo.html Hope this helps?
PS I would lean more towards a varnish rather than a fixative and if I feel like I have to seal my oil pastel, I cover it with a matte mod podge coat. And this seals all the media and I can work over top of it. Just a personal preference so you can experiment and try to find what works for you
I have the Sennelier starter set, and I agree that it is a great way to try them without spending a fortune. I'd love to see you demonstrate how you apply your layers and incorporate the oil pastels. Also, do you have any tips on using them with other media to create fine details for something in a more realistic style?
I’m working on a video where I use them in my first layers. If you want your work to be archival then oil pastels can only be used as your last layer! There’s this tutorial here m.ua-cam.com/video/Ue1E5GX5oFs/v-deo.html But unfortunately there are no explanations. I would say experiment in an art journal to see what is/isn’t possible, what you like etc. Happy creating and thanks for being here 🤗
