The only time I've ever managed to get a chopper pilot was complete luck. I was on Flood Zone and was on one of the tall roofs with some other guys. A scout heli starts trying to take us out with his mini guns when he is about 5 meters from us. I panick and hip-fire my 338 Recon and nail him in the head.

The thing about what rifle you pick is half correct. If you play on hardcore mode, you dont have to worry about your rifle selection damage wise. 1 to the head 2 to the body, each rifle. [except the new semi auto that just came out and is just a DMR classed as a rifle] also, even if you miss, or dont get a head shot, they'll be suppressed and / or have the bane of the low health screen effect [being at 3 health makes you just as effective as being dead already, you cant see jack squat] and always remember, if it helps the team, it's worth it!

i find the scout elite to be my fave gun, my effective sniping range is around 400 metres, 2 shot kills alot of time but i hit what im aiming for more often than with any other rifle.
I was playing Conquest of Shanghai, and something amazing happened. A chopper was doing a strafe of the roof. I was on the roof, sniping. I was using the 20x scope, and the chopper flies right in front of me and starts shooting. I shot the guy out. As the chopper was falling, I jump off the building and get inside. It was amazing.
I have played on both console and pc and it's easier in pc its harder to learn if you haven't been around in a keyboard playing games but the aiming it's always easier in pc. You have more grip and direction with a mouse that with a thumb stick, yes you have skill no doubt but trying the same in console would be at least 5x harder.

The mouse turn ratio along with the accuracy makes the console players not stand a chance against pc players unless you encounter some moron. Yes you are good no doubt in that, I'm by no means taking credit off you, but don't come with non-sense about this and yes it's a fact. A key board and mouse its a little harder to master but it's rewarding almost like using a m16a4 or an-94 it takes time but when you master it you dominate at least in my case since I'm assault. Of course you can jump in a scout heli and f@€% everyone as long as there's no AA near you but that's another story.
I'm really bad at sniping moving targets but I have shot down a little bird in a tank a few times on Silk Road 500 meters away, the others were around 200 meters
best map for sniping pilots siege of shaghai on top of the tower. its a heli magnet. and when the tower comes down the second best place is on the building next to D flag with the elevator. choppers always come there as well.

How to snipe scout helis efficiently: DMR. Or if you really want to use a bolt action sniper rifle, just put a medium range or close range sight, iron sight is my choice. Get a high velocity rifle, shoot them out. Done.
Took me 8 hours to get the srr-61 but it is worth it! I did it on a sniper only tdm. I got so frustrated because everyone is running around with knifes...
Can you use any gun to snipe. Back in BF2 you had to use the m98b in order for the bullets to go through the windows. I loved in bf2 hiding in the forest on Dragon Valley where the air strip is and sniping enemies as they hop into the chopper... BF4 you can't really snipe anymore unless on hardcore because the kill cam gives away your position. That sucks.
I play on xbox 360 and i would say im ok at sniping pilots i just don't use the srr-61 i think in my opinion it is op because of the less bullet drop but it makes since because it shots a 408. Round also i don't dial in or use a range finder because i think it takes the fun out of sniping. But thanks for the tips though the m98b is very good for this
I only used them during the beta (sadly I do not own a copy of BF4) and the M82A3 was amazing. I mean, if I were played cautiously and landed every shots perfectly then I could have up to 20 possible kills. Those weapons are have great potential. (Even if they aren't the most skillful tools ^^)

My only heli kills were pretty lucky, in one day i made 4 kills sniping heli pilots, pilot+gunner on an attack heli and a scout heli 2 pilots... in one day i made my first and last (so far) heli pilot snipes.

Same thing happened to me on siege of shanghai but I had to James bond it and the helium stopped like inches from the statue on front of the giant building I felt like such a badass and I survived the rest of the round solo in the heli like 15-4

its very easy for a heli to clean the upper floors of that building with just a couple of passes and very difficult to hit a pilot with a sniper

Ive only gotten hit markers on the pilot ! And Ive sniped gunners on the boat but the boat wasn't moving ....

Gol magnum has very high bullet velocity which in my opinion should be ideal for sniping
