Never, NEVER underestimate the level of obsession that can be generated by a whiff of perfection - it could be a car, a perfectly cooked dish of delicious food, a piece of art, a house, a piece of clothing or a sublime, skin tingling experience that engraves itself into your memory. Crazy? Maybe - ridiculous? Yes - relatable? Absolutely! You can now rebuild almost any car (or anything for that matter) from scratch, with brand new components that are worlds away from their original examples. Fantastic that there are people out there doing resto mods like this (and keeping them on the road with the knowledge and skills). An absolute icon of mine since the late 80's /early 90s Rally days, then Sega Rally and when one or two of the wealthier lads locally had one or two of them so we occasionally saw them in the flesh.
I have had my Delta Integrale 16v for 12 years now, and absolutely love it. You hear a lot people commenting on that they couldn’t understand the hype around the road handling. If after a run, you get out of the car without sweat dripping from you, you’re not fatigued, and the car does not smell of hot oil and petrol. Then you have driven it wrong! It may look like a delicate little thing by today’s standards. But it is an aggressive car that needs to be driven aggressively.
The Integrale Evo has had a place in my dream garage since driving one that my friend owned in the late 90s, only now it will have to be one of these. What a fantastic creation.
OK, now you're talking Jonny.... Another great episode. I was lucky enough to live with an 8v Intergrale in the early 2000's for a few months and the way it got down a country lane has always stayed with me, it just felt like it belonged there, I'm so glad their lives are getting extended like this, even if it does cost a fortune, the car is so worth it.
As is usual in Jonny's videos, the information and the "send me back in time" elements are fantastic. I remember in the mid-90's, a young guy in Malta won a local lottery and splashed on the Delta HF Integrale in the Martini livery. Let me tell you, the guy was truly envied.
Having had 2 Integrale Evo's and another one in the family (and selling them too soon 😬) it was and still is one of the all time greats. I am proud that fellow Dutch turned the roadcar into something even more unique while retaining the original DNA. Nice Guys too as I spoke with them on the Interclassics last January. Very nice Late Brake Show for introducing it to the rest of the world.

There isn't a day I don't drive it that it doesn't fetch huge attention but I say to most that ask questions while at the petrol pump...Its a nice little car but its nothing spectacular. Yes it does handle absolutely brilliantly. It truly does but I agree with everything the Marco says. I had a 90 reg metallic black Delta HF turbo 2WD in the mid 90's. Surprisingly capable and reliable car once I'd fixed a few issues. Had one of the best paint finishes I've seen for a factory car. Remember parking it next to an Evo2 once in the same colour and dreaming....
I’m 34 now but when I was about 8 my mum had a red delta hf turbo! It was beautiful and we used to commute from Southampton up to Cumbria in it regularly! It was missing the little elephant emblem on the badge and my mum meticulously made and painted one for it! We loved that car but unfortunately my mums partner was a violent alcoholic and he found it parked up one night and ripped the loom out of it and destroyed it!!!! Loved that car!!
Growing up in Canada, muscle cars and jacked up trucks were the norm. I always loved the hot hatch. The Delta was always a dream. Nice to see someone made the dream a reality

Marco knows what he's doing and he's doing this for a while know, very well known in the Italian-Dutch car scene and now he's ready to expand his knowledge and enthusiasm to the world. Yes we all know it's an expensive Delta but what you don't see is the time and knowledge and dedication that went into the Maturo to get it up to this high standard, a group A rally weapon for the road, so a Lancia factory rally car but than tailor made for you to drive on the normal road instead of a rally stage. I do hope the Maturo will make it to this years Italian car show Brooklands so we can all enjoy this amazing Delta. Thank you Jonny for another super vid on your channel. As a true dutch man I say "It ain't much if it's not Dutch" 😁
Drove trucks in and out of Holland from 2009-2015, small industrial areas can be seemlessly integrated alongside beautiful housing - and both can reveal a plethora of hidden classics. And wonderfully polite Dutch happy to share and explain, my favourite country by far.
Feeling a slight tinge of pride knowing this is happening in my home-country. Great seeing you here, Jonny! And properly fitting TLBS content :D Same build-year, btw ;)
That was a fantastic presentation. I agree it's very expensive. But it's not a road integrale. It's a bespoke road going group A car. I think because of that. It's worth it if you're lucky enough to be able to afford one. It's brilliant.
An aunts husband had an og Lancia Delta 1300 , used it to pull a caravan, which then pulled the engine to bits by the end of a summers journeys, towing the caravan. So by 6mnths old it was dead, literally. They scrapped it as the shell was splitting as well.
The Integrale is my dream car. I used to have a Delta, of some sort, it was an HF something, but not the really fast one. It was one of the best cars I have ever owned for smiles per mile.
We have been following Maturo and their builds for some time now and after watching this great video we’re even more tempted to have our own Evo 1 restomodded into a Stradale with the Martini Racing stripes.
Had a red K-reg Integrale II back in the day. It was perfect. However, the lag and lefthand drive was very tricky to deal with, I had to get into the overtake position before I hit the loud pedal such was the kick up the arse after 3000. I imagine these new motors are wonderful.
The Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 in white with the Martini livery and the interior in beige with the recaro seats, is my dream car of all time. I would love one day to have it parked in my house. One can only dream.
Beautiful and high quality restomod. I didn't realise the (canted) transverse engine was mounted so far forward! Wouldn't take much a bump to destroy that ..good job the chassis has been exceptionally done.
I never (fully) got the Lancia Delta Intergrale thing… until I drove once last November for a video. I couldn’t believe how relatively fast it still felt and planted on the road. Whilst this seems a bit of a rich indulgence, if I had the money and the original wasn’t enough, of course I have one! It’s as if the development had continued!
I never liked the way it looked at first but it grew on me. The car I really wanted was the Lancia Hyena which was basically the Delta Integrale underneath but on a different body, until I found out they are $200k lol
Nice video👍 I actually work at the same industrial estate, pass it everyday in my Giulia. We see the Delta's and also that very nice Ferrari 308 blasting past our office almost on a daily basis.😊 Very knowledgeable guys with a very nice workshop. Can't wait to see and hear that 037 driving around when it's finished.
I have always loved the look of this car. Whilst it may not look completely contemporary, I think if it were released onto the market tomorrow it would be a huge hit
Fantastic episode Johnny ! Great improvement and development on such an iconic car. Looking forward to seeing many of these cars at this years AUTO ITALIA festival at Brooklands on the 29th of April. 👍🏽
Thank you Maturo for preserving and improving the dream car of a lot of ppl in the 80, I will always have a special place for the Delta Integrale, sweet memories behind the wheel drive of my old pal, Thank you again and the best wishes for your endeavour.
I just saw this car twice in the Rhondda valley, even witnessing EVO doing an article on it. The colour and the paint job are amazing and seeing the carbon weave is so exciting! Well done!
This made me a bit misty eyed as it brought back memories of my HF Turbo which I purchased as a 25 year old in 1987. I absolutely loved that car even if the electric windows didn't always go back up and the rust started to eat it even with Dinitrol protection. It was white with Martini stripes and lowered suspension so in my mind almost an Integrale. I did 10's of thousands of happy miles in it until an unfortunate accident on a dark and stormy night 9 years later, a most spectacular crash which completely destroyed the car but I did get £400 for the engine.
Painful! My brother in law got rear ended by his best friend in his evo 2 just after fitting new discs and pads! The car got wrote off! He got what he thought was a good chunk of money back for the car but I would of been worth a fortune now! Sad shame!
Damn, this brings back some good memories! Thank you Jonny. Again. Greetings from the Netherlands Edit: I know you need to say it for the sake of the video, but that is NOT private property! Haha good man! ;)
Dammit Jonny, I've asked you before to stop tempting me. Most of my lottery winnings have gone already and then you come up with this. You really spoil us with these excellent videos, thank you so much.
As a Dutch American 🇳🇱 🇺🇸 I approve. We rarely see Deltas of any kind here (less than 10 in my life, all HF or Integrale, all 25+ years old). Realizing how much it looks like a 4dr Scirocco Mk1.
Wonderful review as per normal, the passion of the recreators was clear and obvious, their execution was impeccable. Thanks for your interest Jonny, out of my range but a joy to watch.
I went to a huge breakers yard in France to buy one, must be 25 years ago, it was sold the day before sadly, it was still in the yard and had quite light damage, easy enough repair. It was a fair wad of cash still, but very much affordable for a builder like me. So I have sat in one and made vroom vroom noises, but at this point in car collecting where a RS500 can sell for 600 grand, that is as near as I will ever come to owning one, or ever getting close enough to touch one again.
It still looks good today! You wouldn't feel like you're driving a classic because the Integrale was so ahead of it's time and looks modern and stylish! Fantastic!
I think this is a stunning car, and I love that shops like this exist to make these things. But I bought a 2011 Evora S for about about one tenth of the price of this car, and I dare say the drive experience at least approaches this. Again, though- great to see passion for the Integrales on this level. Well done.
Evora is an incredible. This is a very high end project for the few, and people of that calibre value exclusivity. Most Maturo customers take their existing car there for a few upgrades. The Stradale is a halo product.
@@TheLateBrakeShow Agreed- it's apples and oranges. I'm glad a shop like Maturo do what they do, and I'm glad I could get a car that puts a massive smile on my face with every drive. Win-win!
I agree with him . I had a 16v integrale . It was good.. especially off a roundabout, quick up to 90, but a Subaru Impreza Uk from 99 was much better. It was worth about 6k when I owned it , which was about right. (2007)
Wow. The company is only half an hour away from me, but never heard of them before. After now I will never forget. Nor the sound of that Maturo Stradale. A MA ZING!
Lancia / Fiat know how to build a Turbo car they are the masters of the small displacement Turbocharged engine! "Look at the Delta, Uno, Y10 and the 500" Add to that what these guys are doing and I frankly find it amazing! My last 500 Abarth was pushing 250bhp and was told by a contact I know at Abarth UK on the engineering team, He said the engine was good for 300BHP without upgrading the internals as they had Teflon liners! and were well over engineered. My old '88 UNO turbo i:e boosted to silly amounts back in 1998 and would see most hot hatches off back then. FIAT / LANCIA / ALFA are all legendary just ignore the general build quality as that has always been poo!! When I started as an apprentice mechanic in '95 I was told Fiats are all engine and gearbox and no bodywork lol!! It's true!
@@devanman7920 custom carbon fibre panels, electronic height adjustable suspension, optimised engine setup. Basically the more bespoke nature of the makes the price seem more realistic as this a hand-built item with some very meticulously crafted features
How about the Subaru 22b, prices are insane! If someone is willing to pay upto £1million is that what it’s worth? Then if a company makes a version from the ground up using carbon & other stronger lightweight components. Which is more reliable with more power which is superior in every way would this version be valued the same or more? 25b…
What a workshop, clean, light and a floor without any stickyness. Lovely film and clearly the guy eats and breathes the vision he has created. JS being a left hander had to change gear with his wrong wrong hand and talk to camera, well done.

I think based on your name I have an idea but what appendage are you talking about?
those subtle body mods, particularly that revised boot panel make sooooo much different . . . W0W !
That and rear lights are more than perfection.
Truly amazing , superb attention to detail in the product. I called my eldest daughter Lancia after the Delta Integrale.
Nice video👍
I actually work at the same industrial estate, pass it everyday in my Giulia. We see the Delta's and also that very nice Ferrari 308 blasting past our office almost on a daily basis.😊
Very knowledgeable guys with a very nice workshop. Can't wait to see and hear that 037 driving around when it's finished.
"It looks like a city hatch but it has a tale to tell with a voice from the gods" and that is what this car is all about, fabulous
I have always loved the look of this car. Whilst it may not look completely contemporary, I think if it were released onto the market tomorrow it would be a huge hit
God, I so badly wish I could work here, let alone own one of these fantastic pieces of machinery. Incredible tour. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Okay, straight to the top of the dream garage list 🥵
😉👌🏼
Such a special car. Brings back so many memories from my childhood and of RAC rallies. Great video JS.
Great content as always Jonny, what a motor !!
👍🏽
Sad shame!
Great to see these things exist. What a brilliant company - keeping classics alive and making them better. Simply awesome.
Damn, this brings back some good memories!
Thank you Jonny. Again.
Greetings from the Netherlands
Edit: I know you need to say it for the sake of the video, but that is NOT private property! Haha good man! ;)
Thank you Sebastien. Driving those Lancias was a lot of fun.
The Scirocco was also designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, I've never really connected the two cars but you're right, they do share a lot.
Groetjes
Wonderful review as per normal, the passion of the recreators was clear and obvious, their execution was impeccable. Thanks for your interest Jonny, out of my range but a joy to watch.
Cheers for comment Stephen. Appreciated.
One day , one day , I will own an Integrale 😍
Win-win!
i work at maturo cars myself and working there is like a dream seeing all of the cars that we work on
I agree with him .
It's true!
Best video ever, mr. Smith !
Cheers Joakim
In the spirit of this, they should probably do a restomodded volvo 242 turbo evolution.
The flat hood one. ❤❤
Wow that original base spec model looks amazing!
Love these, They have done a stunning job. Didn't Clarkson drive one of these on The Grand Tour??
👍 That was the Delta Futurista, a 3 door version, quite different in a lot of ways
@@155andRising Ah right OK, Thanks for correcting me.
@@WilliamStevens007 similar colour though wasn’t it so easily confused with that one
I love the "It's not a Delta but it's flipping amazing" car from the 70's😉
I'm sorry but the price is just ridiculous
To me the price is justified
@@NGR101. 300K...How?
@@devanman7920 custom carbon fibre panels, electronic height adjustable suspension, optimised engine setup. Basically the more bespoke nature of the makes the price seem more realistic as this a hand-built item with some very meticulously crafted features
How about the Subaru 22b, prices are insane! If someone is willing to pay upto £1million is that what it’s worth? Then if a company makes a version from the ground up using carbon & other stronger lightweight components. Which is more reliable with more power which is superior in every way would this version be valued the same or more? 25b…
@@MrJESTER808 Prodrive have already done that with the p25
The perfect one car collection for me. Ticks every box that I look for. These guys have done an outstanding job. Awesome video.
I would never, ever get bored of listening to that
What a workshop, clean, light and a floor without any stickyness. Lovely film and clearly the guy eats and breathes the vision he has created. JS being a left hander had to change gear with his wrong wrong hand and talk to camera, well done.
A modern Lancia Delta?
Yes, please!
What a great business. So glad that there are people with the passion and expertise to produce such a fantastic car.
Everything about this video was just perfect.A treat for the eyes and ears.
Audio and visuals more that fully on point.
Such a sweet car.
And it's always good when the interviewee can carry a good conversation and present well.
thanks johnny
Many thanks Simon
For me that still is the most beautiful car even if it was badly made in the past!! 😂
But seeing the resto mod makes me wish i could win the lottery!!
It looks and sounds amazing!!! 😍
What a stunning thing it is he has made it so much more special
And what I like about it the most
It’s not electric, it has its proper engine in it 😍😍😍
Of course it has!! ❤
I had a Mk1 Seat Ibiza, also Giugiaro designed and used to pretend it was a ‘mini delta’ - the lancia hf pepperpot wheels were the perfect offset/pcd
Once apon a time I used to eagerly wait for a certain TV programme on Sunday night on BBC2. Love or hate the lanky northerner, bumbling but knowledgeable eccentric or my fellow short arsed Brummie, because there was going to be an hour of pure petrol sniffing heaven. Obviously once the lanky one tw@tted a co worked things on Sunday dramatically changed and I had to fill my life up with more mundane thing such as walking the dog in the rain or talking to the enemy. But now all has changed thanks to the late brake show, particularly articles like this and barn finds. Thank you for changing my life Jonny.
Hear hear!
The Delta is just one of those cars. Amazing and desirable.
I love RESTOMOD!!! ALWAYS!
18yo me that fell in love with the original Integrale back in the 80s approves this video and this restomod. It"s not even expensive for what it is but, well, nice to dream about this through at least seeing it on YT.
The colour is incredible. Especially with those bronze grille accents.
It really is.
