I feel like Kim Kardashian would’ve been considered a influencer, but that term wasn’t popular when her following grew.

Yup and also because their come up was ofc different from today’s influencers because of the times and they’ve been around for so long they’re different from how a lot of ppl define today’s influencers

I personally think nepotism also plays a huge role in why we don’t have any of these breakout actors/actresses, athletes, etc. making it even harder for regular ppl SO, being an internet celebrity would be the next best thing. Great video btw 💗

Yes true bc my gf is acting w a lot of the up an coming nepo actors and they get more roles not just bc nepo but the other melanin ppl that will do anything for that type of world but my girl won’t so she doesn’t get many roles and doesn’t want to act much when u comes to the industry but her own self tapes and her own scripts

Influencers are replacing celebrities because they’re cheaper. Most influencers want fame and/or gifts; a fair salary is an afterthought. People that have invested in a craft, want to be compensated for their life’s work.

Yeah great point they are way more economical for businesses . Like if a business can spend half the amount of money and half the amount of effort for an influencer and get the same amount of profitability they will and they are . Like I think that ultimately it's the equivalence of cheap labor and outsourcing . Celebrities are like producing within the USA more expensive more effort and influencers.are the equivalent to outsourcing to a cheaper country more profit less pay.

I think the rise of social influencers is a good thing and indicative of the power of the Internet to enable artists, musicians and, well, just about anybody with something to say to reach the public directly, rather than having to deal with gatekeepers, middle-men and agents and those who make their money living off others' content. I believe that celebrities such as movie stars and models are annoyed with social influencers mainly because they resent the fact that the Internet has enabled these influencers to avoid what they have had to go through. Nice job on this video and I look forward to seeing more!

Celebrities like we’ve had in the 20th, to me, seems to be an advent of the industrial revolution. When marketing became a bigger thing. Now, it’s probably returning to a sort of niche type of celebrity, like having that one group tour villages before is having your favorite TT talking about things you’re into.
Also I don’t think traditional celebrities realize how important being an influencer to will become. BTS, Doja Cat, Lizzo and Lil Nas X are prime examples of talents being aware of the importance of social media in building fandom

to me the differences between celebrity and influencer. is that celebrity became famous trough tv and media while influencer became famous trough social media. the argument of ^talent^ is debatable because there's some celebrity who are famous because of their parent or some relative and the only reason why they got the job is because their dad happened to be someone. while on the other hand they are influencer who has talent ( artistic or not ) .

Personally, I find that this phenomenon has now become the norm. People in high places are obviously looking for people who sell and who attract attention and those regardless of the field. And yes, unfortunately this is sometimes done at the expense of people who have worked hard to be able to obtain an opportunity and who may never have the same privileges that these influencers can have. Whether in the world of cinema, music or even boxing where we can see more and more influencers headlining. But in the end, it's all about the money and the entertainment, and you also have to be able to admit that these influencers have gone to great lengths to be able to get such a large community behind them.

i love the idea of opening up the met gala to more people! that being said, i think they should invite influencers who are interested/known in fashion. emma chamberlain is the perfect example (to me) of someone who fits right in with the met gala. she single-handedly changed the teenage style. i don’t think scrunchies and teddy bear jackets are cutting-edge fashion, but she’s evolved and come into her own. i love seeing her fashion sense and i think she’s a great ambassador for brands. it makes perfect sense to me. but when you invite people like james charles who have absolutely no fashion sense and no influence on the fashion industry, it doesn’t work. you don’t have to be a fashion icon but you should be able to bring something to the table. some of these influencers could SAVE the met gala and eat these celebrities up with their looks! but they’ll keep choosing people with the most followers; not the person who genuinely cares about the gala, it’s theme and the fashion that goes along with it. great video as always

@@melteddarkchocolate000 when did i say she’s a fashion icon? i said she cares about fashion and has her own style. i never said she had the best style either. just that it’s clear she cares about fashion and the industry behind it. whether you like her style or not, she has influence and was setting trends for her demographic a few years ago. she’s an ambassador for multiple high-end fashion brands which is why i commented saying she (and people like her) deserve to be at the met.

Many " influencers" use social media as a stepping stone into the industry because for how hard it it to go in raw. A lot of them are strategic with how they step in e.g Tyla - who spotted an opportunity through tiktok so she could sign to a label which was a requirement. There is a bigger issue in general pertaining to why opportunities for the regular person are so limited & strict. We should focus more on that, so that gatekeepers can let lose. Or encourage people to go through the route of social media to get you to where you want. Do you notice how those influencers already have a star energy that enables them to confidently aim higher and take up those spaces? Sometimes better than celebrities that have desperate energy or can't handle fame?

i don’t think there’s a concrete answer to your question of “should influencers be invited to the met gala?” i think it really depends on the influencer. there are certain influencers who i think do have a place at the met gala such as emma chamberlain. at its core the met gala is a fashion event, and emma has gained a large following off of being a fashion icon. it makes a lot of sense for someone who’s a fashion icon to be invited to a fashion event. but for influencers like addison rae and james charles? don’t have a clue why they were invited. neither of them are involved in the realm of fashion, and neither of them contribute anything by being at the met gala.

The modern celebrity is manufactured and "influencers" (at first or at best a few still remain) are real. Celebs used to be this real life larger than life individuals. Then when capitalism took over we only see certain "archetypes" of celebrities and they don't reflect the majority....never did never will. We the people are taking back our right to like & follow who we want. Like you- for example. Great Content ♥️

Hmm for me, I'm not that bothered by influencers being inserted into red carpet events but more so I think they just insert certain influencers into spaces wherever and it doesnt make sense. For example Addison Rae at the UFC event. No hate I just feel her audience is very young and they arent like a large demographic of UFC fans. No surprise that recieved backlash! To me, celebs kinda take on different roles and wear more hats vs influencers are a bit more niche which that's not to say they can't branch out but I think it's different. Idk hoooow the Paul bros do it but man they are goofy to me lmao but they have successfully branched out for example.

idk why the word influencer is what we call people online with a large following, like did they really get on social media to make a positive influence on ppl or did they just wanna dance to a song? both are okay but calling random ppl influencers just puts them in a box that they never intended on being in.

I think this generation has really done us a disservice by telling people to go down the influencer route or by really heavily promoting that route. I think college is really dope and honestly a much more noble way of starting your career. Not only is it more noble but it provides people with more expertise in my opinion. I want to go back to school but I’m about to hit like mid 20’s and I’m starting to feel like damn. I waisted to much time trying to do the no school route and I’m getting closer to the infamous wall you hit in your 30’s as a women. Sometimes the “easier way” isn’t always the best way. I definitely respect influencers. I even have thoughts of going down that route because it’s sort of like my last resort, but idk. Any advice I would give to creatives out there is to go to school or find some type of apprenticeship program or maybe a personal connection that you have with someone in the industry you want to be in. I think if you really want to be good at something, you have to put in the hours and also don’t avoid school just because you want fame fast. It often doesn’t work like that influencer or not. You have to consistently put in the hrs and be a student. I think influencers are celebrities in their own way. If people like you they like you, but I do see the frustration of the more traditional celebrity.
