- Celebrity culture may forever be done as we know it. After 2024's annual Met Gala, it seems Gen Z is officially over the glorification, idolization, and obsession of celebrities and influencers. It seems that celebrity CULTure is done.

I’m down to cancel celebrity culture it’s about time
AMEN
About time
It's about humanity too
Yeah they are just people, we shouldn't worship them
WHAT ABOUT THE UA-camRS WHO ON TO BE
CELEBRITIES???? DD9 , Queen ?????
UA-camRS ARE INCLUDEDIN THE CANCEL YALL MAKE A LOT OF MONEY TOO SO DONT ACT LIKE they are ONE OF US !!!
I dont know why we took all the WORST, most insufferable people from highschool and gave them even more power by calling them "influencers"... but can we stop now?
Good question
THIS! I am SO tired of continuously seeing people who we all know are bullies, annoying, and insufferable. And GIVING THEM INFLUENTIAL POWER! These people are only in a role of power because they are given it. Let's STOP it. 😅
Yea and these influencers are now home schooling their kids, so their generations will continue to suffer. Can't learn from a repeating mistake.
The term influencer in its self is already super weird, because it makes it seem like they are activists or something, yet they don’t even have to ever speak about anything meaningful. I know they do influence people, but I still don’t know if I would call someone that, if the influence is bad. I guess what I am trying to say, they are influencers last, and many other things first. Also, kind of seems like they don’t even have talent, so it is kind of disrespectful for artists or comedians or informative channels to be called influencers.. and I don’t understand why someone would choose calling THEMSELVES influencer, rather than the actual thing they do?
Love or hate media doesn’t mean anything the fact that is sp
I wish I remembered who said this, but a UA-camr or Tiktoker said that the shift with celebrity culture changed because the role between celebs and fans have flipped. Celebrities used to make the demands while everyone bowed down, but now the audience is making demands, so celebrities don't hold power anymore.
yes!! I first saw that during the blm protests back in summer of 2020. when we demanded celebrities to speak on the death of George Floyd/ Brianna Taylor and we continue to see that to this day with what’s going on in Gaza
Yeah because their income literally comes from us. Without us they wouldn’t even gone that far.
They are true. Perfect example of how the Kardashians fell HARD! They ran everything for the last decade
Celebrities use to earn their influence if we're being honest. They all had something unique and of quality to contribute. Now, it's straight up marketing for money, without any true artistry. So blinded.
@@GENREBENDER- Exactly. Very focus-group molded.
Next we need to cancel corporations and the government. The fact that everyday hard working American can't afford basic necessities while being forced to work multiple jobs is ridiculous! Isn't the U.S. still considered one of the richest nations?
Amen! Most of us are having to choose between paying rent or affording groceries. Times are tough and celebs will never be relatable or care about us peasants.
Tax them all. And let the taxes not be used for the military, but for the people
From a European perspective, the US unfortunately spends more money on war than its people... :(
At this moment, the US is the 9th richest country in the world, according to GPD per capita. A bit behind of Switzerland, and richer than Norway and Denmark, both of which are WELFARE STATES.
i wish this was possible but atp corporations and the US government are practically the same thing… we really need to scrap it all and start again
The fact that Oprah is a billionaire & is asking for donations beats me 😂☠️
Right both of them the rock and her they could’ve easily met that goal
And nobody cares...
Especially in this economy, I can't spare a dime so it's bold of her to ask me to donate lmao
on top of that. during c-o-v-I-d, these same celebrities/ influencers who were telling us to stay home during the pandemic were the same ones who hosted / going to parties/ group gatherings/ traveling while people were in the ICU suffering from the disease while quarantine was at it’s peak. that moment for me was when I knew how tone deaf these celebrities were.
edit: thank you so much for all the likes
THISSS!!!
Do you actually expect rich ppl to do as they tell us to do? 😂
People then were very upset and enraged just like they are now and we're 3-4 years later and literally nothing changed since then
They definitely showed their a$$es during c0 v!d. Totally agree w you. All of it seemed contrived and disingenuous, almost like PSA's but not quite.
Because fools stayed home and allowed a total economic collapse we are experiencing a recession and are only now beginning to see the food shortages caused by the break down of the food supplies.
Jlo getting dragged will always be funny😂😂😂😭
That clip of people declining her film killed me 😂😂 they probably said girl those aren’t even your vocals
For me, it’s funny, and embarrassing since we’re from the same borough (The Bronx)🤦🏾♂️💯
@@JulianSteve did you see that video of her going to her childhood home salty the man didn’t know her lmao
@@EricaAsjaee Yes I did. It was really awkward and funny! I’m not going to lie😂!
Yeah, we ain’t fooled by the rocks that JLo got.
Respectfully Keep that SAME energy with Drake because it was drastically different with him versus the girlies .. He has been doing this right in front of everyone’s eyes ( including yours ) for a long time & it’s disturbing. It’s obviously not just “allegations” when a 30 year old man is messaging 15/16 year old girls - if he wasn’t famous he’d be put under the jail already …. You can’t think that’s ok ??
Yeah, not overly comfortable with her calling him "her man" and then going on to admit and play clips of his allegations of SA and grooming.
Huge supporter of hers but was very disappointed ! How can you come after someone for saying “let them have cake” ( even tho tasteless) but not a man who’s a predator & been using his level of fame as a power dynamic to prey on girls for years … She even acknowledges she’s too young and she’s only like 22 ! All the valadity went right out the window when she stood up for this grown musky trash of a man ( joking or not) We got to do better instead of picking favorites especially men who have A$$AULTED young girls …. And that’s why celebritiy culture will never be cancelled.
exactly i was so thrown off by that and don’t like that for her. kinda of disappointed in her
Yeah...this was so cringe and gross
I agree. She was hitting on ppl being tone deaf. But was this not?
The bible verse always makes me happy.
Same. The one today was real good also 🥰
I agree. A positive vibe to start some rather negative topics. Love this channel. Just a normal woman telling facts with receipts and a familiar opinion.
I really enjoy it. Nice start to any video.
Me too :)
Real :-) God bless y'all
I don't need to join in the boycott because throughout my life from childhood to adulthood I have never subscribed, liked and followed the accounts of artists, actors, singers, figures etc. both domestically and internationally, because for me what's the benefit of spending time following stories their life?
Same. I never had an interest in celebrities; and influencers are just too ridiculous. I don’t follow or watch anything that revolves around those people’s lives. Plus rich people are super boring.
Same.
People should be raised to think this, you can enjoy their work but don't obsess over them
Same, I’m grateful I never was like that. While I do have favorites, I don’t go out of my way to look them up or anything. I just appreciate whenever they make a new movie or a new song (and sometimes they are flops or I take a long time to find out they have a new song lol)
Block them not just not follow them , they make money off of ads them make and u see
I'll believe it when I see it. I remember in 2023 when they said that the Kardashians were becoming irrelevant and that they weren't gonna be invited to the MET gala and blah, blah, blah (spoiler: they WERE invited to the MET)...it's been a year and people are still as obsessed with celebs as before. They're on an unfollowing spree that will last a couple of months (if not weeks) and then they'll go back to stanning those people as if nothing ever happened. Remember that people have SHORT-term memory...Just look at the Hailey Bieber drama from last year and how people wanted to cancel her for being a mean girl and allegedly stalking Justin Bieber...fast forward a year later and she came out unharmed with gaining more fans and being pregnant with Bieber's baby. Then there's the Balenciaga pedophile drama and Kim Kardashian calling them out...fast forward a year later and Kim is now an ambassador for Balenciaga and people have seemed to have forgotten about the drama from last year. My point is that people have very bad memory and they say that they'll cancel X and Y but they never ACTUALLY go through with it and those people/things remain permanently uncancelled. Just look at how they have kept the Kardashians relevant for almost 20 years...Sorry to say it but that family will never be irrelevant since they've left a legacy and keep procreating...
Honestly, nothing surprises me with the Kardashians, or Jenners. Very out of touch rich family💯
@@JulianSteve all rich people are out of touch 🤷
exactly. i’ll believe it when i see it
Unfortunately I agree
Unfortunately, you're likely 100% correct. At the end of the day, who wants to spend their time tackling the tough issues like income inequality and class warfare when they could opt for being temporarily distracted from all that depressing shit?
Asking celebrities to speak up about social issues just perpetuates the notion that we should idolize them. Why should anyone listen to them when it comes to politics in the first place? Most of the them are no smarter than the average person and we should all band together to stop listening to them all together, not ask them to speak up. Stop letting them have that platform in the first place
i agree but also disagree as when you support an artist or somebody (or at least i speak personnally) i want to know what they support, do they support genocide or not ? it’s not necessarily about their influence (which whether we like it or not they have) but more about do they share the same and basic values as you.. but yea i used to idolize some artists but none have talked about palestine so fuck em
The thing is, influencers have influence. They have followers. If they deserved their followers and privileges, they would speak up. They would understand that they are leaders for their followers and that it comes with responsibilities -- including the responsibility to act ethically.
They are NOT doing that despite knowing the power their words have. Hence, now we are letting them go. (I never personally valued them, but I know they have people who do and will fall into step with their actions and words.)
Also, I wanna know what sort of a person I'm following and whether they're modern-day N*zis/genocide supporters, support LGBTQ+ discrimination, removing women's rights/autonomy, or something. So... :/
there's a difference between idolizing and humanizing. you're right, they are no better than the average person and that's EXACTLY why they should act like it by actually showing their humanity by clearly stating their stance on these very real issues. there's a million ways a celebrity can justify their silence by saying they're scared of losing their career without ACTUALLY saying those exact words and still gain the empathy and trust of their audience back.
the issue is, most celebrities and influencers have way too much pride to even admit to their own failures as people with platforms and would rather deflect the cause of their scandals to anything but the actual topic at hand, just like what haylee bailee did by making her apology all about not being invited to the met gala rather than the actual issue which was the message and elitist portrayal written all over her Marie Antoinette inspired outfit.
I so agree with this. I honestly think people who unfollow celebs just because they DON’T speak about certain issues are weird af. Like, I can understand if a celeb posts about supporting something you don’t support you could unfollow, but why would you be mad because they choose to stay silent? They are celebrities, not politicians. Their job is to act, sing, etc. I honestly have more respect for celebs that just do their jobs and don’t try to be activists.
I can see why it can be weird to ask celebrities for opinions (though I also agree with other comments about wanting to know who you're supporting), but I don't see why no one should listen to them at all. If they have something they feel strongly about they have as much right as the rest of us to speak on it. The fact that they have more eyes on them doesn't take that away. They are three deminsional people who have opinions and who can research and be knowledgeable about topics they speak on, just like anyone else.
They’re famous -because- they’re rich, not because they’re good people. Not a single one of these people did we go, “Oh, wow, they’re such a good person, let’s give them tons of money and attention for it.” And influencers are influencers because they show us a lifestyle that a large portion of the population wants. They’re just a reflection of our desires. Maybe if we changed our own priorities instead of worrying about whatever celebrities are doing there’d be a change in the world at large.
Facts 👏🏽
You illustrated mass thought so well.
They're famous because they probably did ultra weird things behind closed doors that you wouldn't do to be there.
That's all, other than that they are just like you.
If I made $75,000 A MONTH I would pay for everyone in an assisted living facility in my community to live there for free for at least a year, I would buy groceries for the people in line behind me, I would go to the schools I went to and write the teachers checks, I would donate to women’s shelters and give food to food pantries… or at least I hope I would. I hope I would retain some humanity. I just wish rich and famous people would budget in some charitable giving and giving back to their communities. It’s the least they could do.
That’s wonderful I hope you get to do that one day
All the expenses you just listed adds up very quickly. That doesn't include expenses they already have with their own families and close friends and other obligations. Then these people get sued pretty often so they keep expensive lawyers on retainer to take care of their legal problems. While it's a lot of money it can go quickly.
MrBeast is doing it and he was literally canceled for it
I don't understand why they don't do that. Are they really that greedy?
This is very naive. $75,000 a month is no where near enough to do all the things you’re saying you would do.
We're in a Great Depression too, so that girl dressing up as Marie Antoinet hits hard because the cost of living is so high and people are hungry.
So people can’t play dress up because people are broke and hungry? That doesn’t make sense. Especially given the fact that she was paid to dress up and cover the met gala for e news. Literally her job.
@@erinerinerinOOO I never said that.
@@erinerinerinOOOShe said let them eat cake! That was her choice. Nothing to do with her job. Stop excusing those who lack basic humanity.
@@NancyKnows And you wouldn't have known what that meant until someone explained it to you.
And it's not a quote from Marie Antoinette either....
You can't even write her name but are outraged by this...
Marie Antoinette.
What's that old saying 🤔 "Good or bad, attention is attention." The rich and famous will always be out of touch. Cancel/block/unfollow whatever. The only way to make a point with them is to hit them in the pockets. Just don't buy their goods or services period.
This!!
that’s the whole point of blocking them. they get paid with people engagement as well!
Maybe JLo shouldn’t have recorded all of those denials 😳 Jason Mamoa shooting TMobile commercials but too busy for JLo is hilarious I’m sorry 😭
"I need home internet from T-Mobile to fulfill my li-i-i-i-ifeeeeeee" 😂
Unpopular opinion: but I feel like this whole blocking them on social media or just "ignoring" them isn't going to change anything. Celebrities were around long before social media, and many of them made their money prior to social media. So as long as the masses continue to buy their cheaply made overly expensive products, watch their shows and or movies, or spend their money in establishments owned by them, they will continue to make millions of dollars. While continuing to flaunt their wealth in our faces with little to no remorse for those without or those living in the despair.
It won’t last. It’s a trend. Next week/ month everyone will be back to following and idolising them.
@@MzPink1992exactly
@@MzPink1992 To be honest I believe it’s mindsets like these that make it become a trend. If you think it’s a “trend” it’s going to be one. Stand for it, don’t let it become a trend when it needs to be done.
Unfortunately I agree. People during c-vid were very enraged and cancelling celebrities left and right for ignoring lockdowns and partying, and here we are, 3-4 years later and literally nothing changed
It actually can make an impact. Celebrities have been complaining that influencers are now their competition because brand deals don’t just pick celebrities but also influencers. Movies might make money but not all celebrities are actors. Choosing to block them will have an impact on their money and influence
Kat Kalled It Williams most certainly called it. Scorched EARTH on the landscape right now
Lmao Kat Kalled It Williams IS WILD😂😂😂 love it❤
As a huge history buff that "Let them eat cake" video was SHOCKING. Like, genuinely it's baffling how someone could take a phrase that is theorized to have been made by an extremely naive young woman and willingly reference a period of such brutal class inequality. Like, NO ONE should be aspiring to be Marie Antoinette or go back to 1790s France. It was a good time for nobody, and glamourizing it like that is CRAZY when the person you're referencing was beheaded because the public didn't like how wealthy she was. The irony is strong.
How is celebrity culture done when you have millions of UA-camrs and TikTokers trying to be celebrities? Celebrity Culture is not done.
I think it’s the catch 22 of it all, some people want to make videos because they are lonely and it’s a way to make friends and gain a “community” in a way just like some people love to act or sing/rap it just so happens that in today’s climate you have to now market yourself in a way that’s “relatable” but for some they just want it all
I had this thought as well. Celebrities are just people who amass a large popularity and become well known. This could extend to many, UA-camrs, Streamers, Influencers, Creators, and what have you…
I’d argue celebs are gonna be here for a long while. Perhaps we in this current social culture need to take a step back when interacting with such individuals. Acknowledge their achievements or possible merit but let’s remember that these are just people! Why pedestal them? Compare ourselves? Follow their every move? These people carry flaws like anyone else. Let them inspire you but know it is okay to detach as well. Just my thoughts :)
more towards niche community 💯
less worshiping an individual persona
#celebsareover
Let’s emphasize “million” because tbh there is a lot of them. Hell we can consider this wyouthber a celebrity herself. On the UA-cam platform.
@@nalabrown7765 I agree. It’s a bit of a shame people feel pressured to market themselves though. I can understand if people want to make such communities a way to make a living but…marketing is such a slippery slope especially in this economic climate. Outside of “going viral” I wonder why it is so important for people who make communities to gain so many followers? Like why is there so much focus on this?
There’s nothing wrong with being rich. There’s nothing wrong with being richer than the vast majority of people. But I’m surprised it’s only now people are realizing they’ve had enough. You guys make them super rich while still being middle class yourself. Can you believe tickets for the Met were 75,000 dollars and for tables was 300,000+? We’ve always been living in the hunger games.
Also, I’m so happy to see you sticking to you faith with the Bible verse. Please never stop doing it. You don’t know just who needed to hear it.
The only good thing about the Met Gala is that money goes to the Costume Institute because they don't receive money from the Met. I do like to see that money going towards preserving fashion and fashion history as an art form.

As a millennial, I’m totally behind this.
Because you all are lemmings.
The Haley issue, I think she didn't know how deep the audio bit went because she always uses trendy sounds. I think she meant as in "I ate with this look" by using the audio not as in "I'm flexing over y'all". Also it is true she never was inside the met, sure the dress was definitely expensive but I believe because she was gonna get exposure through her own fame it was a win for the designer anyway 🤷 I don't think it was that deep here honestly, can't compare to Drake allegations or JLo's tone deaf behaviour
True Hailey is usually 24/7 being a clown or funny. People joke that she is never serious. Most of her content is to get ppl to have a quick laugh

I've never watched the hungers games but just watched two trailers of it right now and it really does look like the nobles are on top of the world and the peasants are struggling and fighting the games.
I really recommend you to watch it, it fits perfectly
An issue I have is that people expect celebrities to speak on political topics. They are not more well-versed and educated on social and political topics than non-celebrity people. Their voices are not more important than ours. We give them too much power by asking them to say something, to the point where all they have to do is post a block in solidarity to satisfy the public. Stop giving them more power. Their only job is to entertain.
Edit: As celebrities, it can be irresponsible to speak on topics that you are not trained, informed, or qualified for. They can draw attention to an issue or political activist using their platform, but it isn’t their responsibility to do so. I agree that politics and art have always been intertwined, but artists can withhold or express their thoughts in whatever way they choose, and we don’t have to support them if we don’t like their work. The problem is that we look to celebrities for guidance (and become upset if their stances don’t align with our own) when most are not educated, thus giving them more power. They have only few responsibilities: to act, sing, & entertain.
EXACTLY!! thank you for this.
My thought’s exactly. Everyone is being forced to have the same opinions and beliefs or they lose their jobs. We are really becoming followers real
See, I've seen this take a lot, but the thing is historically large artists have made statements about world events. When fame was about talent many artists spoke out about world events. We don't expect them to know more, just to do better. ESPECIALLY if they profit off of pretending to be 'just like us' or socially aware.
braindead take
I half agree half disagree. They're not more educated than the average person. I agree with that. I don't understand why people are disappointed at celebrities like they expected them to speak out to begin with. But to say it wouldn't make more of a impact is just false. Their voices are not more important but they could hold more power because like or not celebrities do have power and they could still use it if they really wanted to. They can still donate if they wanted to. Better than us "regular joes" can. But i do agree you have no rooom to get mad at others if you're not speaking out either.
the extended clip of them singing 'imagine' gave me psychic damage as someone who hates the beatles & hates celebrities 😭 fantastic vid! well made, well edited, you're wonderful! i really hope this isn't a quick trend or at least it will be a step in the right direction. it seems to have a lot of people realizing the hold celebrities had on them, even if they didn't think they were parasocial, the idea of blocking a celebrity felt Bad.
I started to realize that Celebrities aren’t that relevant anymore when tik tok started to be very mainstream. People don’t see celebrities anymore that much in front of their eyes. They see more people who are normalos like them, so the fancy celebrities just faded slowly away. As an millennial you always saw celebrities on posters, on magazine, on tv etc. So they seemed so untouchable now the new generation don’t see them that much anymore, so they care less. You‘re seeing that more after more look up to the views on music videos from big artist most don’t even reach 100 Mio anymore only if it’s an trend on tik tok etc.
Yeah but Gen Z makes talentless influencers into celebrities instead which is worse.
People also need to stop making people famous for no good reason
Damn if the celebrities aren't supporting JLo, that really tells you what type of person she is..😂😂
There aren’t really any young ICONS like there used to be. Who today can compare to a Whitney or a Mariah, in terms of raw talent and that magical star power? The entertainment industry is flopping hard.
It's a whole different game now. I fear that the idea of an "icon" will always remain used in reference to pre-2000s maybe even early 2010s artists if you will.
I loved Haley, but babe I have Mexican relatives who struggle to get into this country fairly and legally, friends who have had to drop out of my private school because they can’t afford treatment for their Ulcerative colitis and cystic fibrosis, and small restaurants having to close down because they can’t afford rent

Blocking celebrities like Taylor Swift or Kim Kardashian it's not going to affect them even it's beneficial for them, less people who follow them but the same amount of people who consume their content only promotes more the account. This type of massive celebrities don't depend on social media interaction, they depend on their products (merch, their cosmetic line and concerts). Let's just say, if people stop going to the eras tour, stop buying Taylor's merch and completely ignore her (don't block her, just simply ignore her) maybe we can do something.
But in the end, we should not expect celebrities talking about this type of issues, celebrities often don't get affected by them.
yeah kim kardashian and company have been “cancelled” so many times, and yet people still buy and promote skims like their lives depend on it 💀 same with rare beauty
Boycott them and unfollow/block them

CELEBRITIES ARE NORMAL ASS PEOPLE WITH GOOD JOBS AND THAT IS ALL!!!!! This is the very reason why I stoped being delusional about defending my favorite celebrity, BEYONCÉ, because she’s just a women who makes music. Yes I’m still a fan but as great as she is I shouldn’t have expected anything more from her than good music bc I don’t know her as a person and shouldn’t have assumed anything about her which would have saved me from being let down if she’s isn’t the person I’ve made her out to be in my head.
Hailey Baylee grew up in a very rich community in my state (elitist)- I used to do massage in the city she’s from and one of my clients was the CEo of shop NBC and he lived in this community, lives in $17,000 NYC Apartment that she flaunts in her tik tok, had a millionaire ex, was at the met gala and she is still claiming she is not elitist. Gaslighting. Who knows what else she lies about. Btw I am not a hater, I just really don’t like liars and fake people. JLo and Haylee Baylee are both Leo’s and both are compulsive liars, as well as the Leo’s I have known in real life.
Woah woah woah, the leo slander.... breaks my fragile little lion heart. 😂
I hate liars and fakes too, you don’t know my life story or the pain I endured from liars and fake people, but you just spread misinformation. You believe a lie. I rebuke your lies in the name of Jesus.
I’m born July 30th and use to represent being a Leo, I was never deep into astrology and just thought it was innocent fun.
I am working on a more serious relationship with Christ and I realize why God hates it, so many people really think that being born in a certain time puts a specific character trait or traits to you. Foolish.
People turn to a zodiac vs praying consistently to God about someone’s character before allowing them in their life or if it’s a test for more maturity.
It’s disgusting and disrespectful to try and identify an entire group of people or people born in a certain time frame with a certain character or you think you know them. Good or bad I don’t claim any of it, I rebuke this in Jesus name. God knows my heart, not some chick who studied astrology and can’t live past 100 years, and still have to poop, and eat. You’re no God and you don’t speak for me being born in that time, no one does, good or bad.
Only time will tell when it comes to identifying character flaws, but God can help you way more than some zodiac. Habitual liars are born all year around and it’s not based on zodiacs and their “sign.” Always keep your guard up and observe character, not some birthday and when they were born, actors with evil intentions are born everyday and can fool you for a long time.
All hearts are capable of wickedness and gravitate towards selfishness, you may not be a murderer, a cheater, or a liar, but if you examine your life, you won’t find perfection, just because all the people you met born in that time frame were liars or negative doesn’t speak for everyone.
It’s another form of disinformation, discrimination, generalization hurting others believing foolish lies, spreading foolish lies because of your personal experience, and creating unnecessary stereotypes about an individual before you actually meet them and get to know them.
God bless you.
Sydney Sweeney is also a pathological liar!
I was with you until you implied your birth sign affects how you talk to people lmao thats just goofy
I was with you until the random birth sign slander.....like what even is the connection??? 😟😟😟😟😟😟
Got here with the quickness...i appreciate ur take on these topics....
I appreciate you, thank you so much ❤️
I was legit made homeless during the peak of the pandemic & I swear 90% of these celebrity moments went over my head🤣 i only found out about the imagine video when I got internet again & honestly I feel it worked out for the better😅
I was homeless at that time too in LA with my kids.. we were not worried about internet either lol
Influencers needs to be stopped; celebrities are not the biggest problem. Not saying they should have god complexes but at least they perform, possess a talent and give us bodies of work we can enjoy forever.
Everyday people making millions of dollars by pushing products they don’t use, giving their opinions or sharing their lunch is wild when you think about it
I have never been a Stan of any celebrity, I don’t understand the constant worshiping or thinking they could do no wrong . If you are a rich celebrity or gatekeeper in that industry , then you had to do some really shady stuff to get there , it does not just happen on its own . They have to do things to get the top and stay on top and suppress anyone else they deem as competition. I am glad everyone is being exposed and people are finally seeing most of the stuff these celebrities are doing in the background . They manipulate the perception by controlling the media and social media , this goes for politicians too. Average people are losing jobs , can’t pay their bills even with a job , can’t afford rent , go to the doctor or even buy groceries. The inflation is just astonishingly high and there is a huge income gap that they can no longer hide .
May be a “hot take” but this whole “boycott celebs” is so funny to me because its the same people that put these people on the map, bought their product, and continue to support them in various ways. It’s very easy to simply NOT buy the product or to NOT follow them.
Prime example is the kardashians, everyone loves to hate them, bash them, etc…but whose buying up all the skims, Good American, KK, etc… it’s y’all that made them famous, rich, and keeping their pockets lined. It all stems back to being intentional with WHO you support
I think that's a broad assumption. Most people who hate the kardashians are not buying their products...just because you know some people, don't group them in with everyone damn. The boycott is about BLOCKING to materially affect their ad revenue and to then put pressure on those with platforms to be more responsible about the misinformation they are likely to spread with said punishment to their wallet and net profits. Celebs aren't politicians- they are loose canons with unimaginable amounts of unregulated power because no one anticipated social media to become what it is. I think it's really reasonable and people are missing the point and acting a little holier than though ironically
✋🏼 uhh😂 I don't buy the skims or good American jeans .. I just work in a store that sells them 😂
Thanks for that.
Atleast one normal person in this comment section!
Take care.
I think it is bizarre to force people to speak about an issue when their content is not about politics or current affairs
Whats crazy is how Hayley made a regular post and ONLY after getting hate she decided to make a video. Even after making a statement Hayley is still being ignorant by: Continuing to post her average content, Fighting back hate comments, Replying to comments appreciating their "support through her tough time" and praising the people who followed her BECAUSE she used that sound. It's all an act.
She just needs to go private for a couple of months and then come back and go public then everyone will forget.
@@jujubee6030not even two months - about three weeks should do it
Ok Jenny J.Lo from Da Block Lopez, did she ever ask anyone from "In Living Color" where she literally got her start to be in her doc?...
I believe she didn’t. Embarrassing🤦🏾♂️…
One thing about my generation that I love
That they are easy to control and influence?
With no thoughts of their own?
Alot of people like that, it's so easy to exploit.
Eww...I will never understand why ppl like Drake. You can see the evil in his eyes.
I don’t think the Met gala JLO was that serious. She already looked pissed coming up the steps. Women don’t have to be smiling and friendly all the time
Fair take, Morgan. However, J.Lo’s track record been showing a pattern of not being nice.
I agree! She looked tired if anything
This !
I agree! I'm not a JLo fan but the staircase thing was blown out of proportion. That probably happens often with many celebs but the media just wants to drag JLo these days.
Drake is the modern day R Kelly
toni, i was listening to your video at the table while doing my homework. (the hollywood horrors video). my mom overheard me and she said you’re very well articulated and she usually does not like the youtubers i like!! take that as a compliment cause you have a new fan! (my mom)
These ppl will be unblocked soon. Just wait lol these celebs aren’t losing any sleep. They’re still filthy rich without a couple million fans on social media.
I don't think its the action of the unfollowing or blocking. I think it's just the attitude people have towards these celebs that are really going to affect them because people are waking up to how dystopian things are.
@@Brees_corner no they are not its just a trend
Yall want the celebrities to just shut up and sing when they support someone you do not like, but when they stay silent, you also get mad? How about instead of unfollowing people who at the end of the day are just pawns in this game, maybe write a letter to your local congressman or woman? Or make a video about what the people in control are doing? I have watched a few videos on this topic and the actual people in charge are still a small mention in every video. Do something then.
THANK YOU! My thoughts EXACTLY!
I swear girl, this video is probably one of the best I've seen at evaluating something in the world.
When ppl are starting to treat celebrities like they are politicians that’s when you know we are doomed. Ppl getting mad cuz celebrities because they won’t speak on politics yet ignore actual politicians and won’t vote is hilariously dumb.
Tell them !!
THANK YOU. they have all this energy for people who entertain for a living but I don't see them trying to get through to the people actually running our country
This is actually a really good point. But I think it can get even deeper and I think there's more nuance to it. Just think about it, maybe people have given up on our politicians and are turning to celebrities. Celebrities have access to money and money opens different doors and gives them the ability to be more forceful in terms of demanding change or taking certain actions. Remember they are American citizens too that are at the will of our leaders or are supposed to be. These citizens however are obviously at an elevated position in society.
I am millennial, and I am down with cancelling celebraties!!
I'm glad somebody is finally voicing what I've thought about Hayley for a long time. She is a wannabe celebrity and I feel like she doesn't care how or why she gets attention she just wants to be famous. And to me this need for acceptance and validation is so desperate and obvious to see it's actually kind of sad.
3:54 JOJO with the bow bow lol she’s 100% rage baiting us!!
my only issue with the idea that she’s faking all of it for attention is that she would have to be good at acting to pull it off
@@raeee777 Little tipp: They are all "faking" it, to get you attention and money...
I dont really believe it tbh. I think its just anouther trend ..ppl will move onto something new in a month.
I’m totally behind the mindset of leaving the celebrity culture and worship behind, but I’m not on board with society saying “speak out or else”.
If someone voiced that they side with Israel y’all would tear them apart. You only want to hear them say they support the people YOU support. Impartiality is a weapon and tool used by anyone with a platform to keep their bag, politics shouldn’t be used the same way.
Else you end up in an echo chamber World where no one has their own opinion.
I heavily agree that celebrities are grossly out of touch with their own country though-they aren’t “relatable” like they claim
You're definitely right, I only want to hear people who agree with me speak out...but I also know that that isn't how the world works. People have different opinions and someone who is pro-Isreal has just as much of a right to speak as someone who is pro-Palistine. It's amazing how many people can't accept that.
Israel is massacring Palestine with their unfairly large and unjustly acquired power. It's not a sports team where your on sides and you have a right to your opinion. Being pro Israel means something specific.
I’m happy. Those who have met or worked with people in the industry will tell you that many of these celebrities/influencers are damn near sociopaths. Horrible people.
It takes a level of narcissism and sociopathy to become that big of a celebrity. Ew. 😶
So what?
If you want your fans to follow you and actually love you , be a good person . If you want them to donate then donate yourself at least 50% or more . Be a leading example , not entitled. This is why kpop stars are more adored than these celebrities.
This is gonna controversial for some, but what if some of those celebrities don't know the whole history behind these specific conflicts in the world and are quiet because they don't want to cause further damage online due to being uneducated or having no connection to specific culture or country? I have seen many people comparing this met gala to hunger games, and like I get it with what is happening in the world, being stan of celebs is ridiculous at this point, but when it comes to met gala, it is also charity event for museum so they can continue their work and scientific research on art and fashion and that is also important for history (even though I wouldnt be surprised if met earns way more than museum needs that they could share it with other charitable organisations that focus on help for people in need) while celebrities are over privilaged (unless they came from very tough background) and definetelly brought this on themselves by acting like an activists and we were digging it up before pandemic in 2020 (and before pandemic we were ALL digging for met gala and these celebs even with wars, corruptions and natural disasters happening way before covid, recession or Ukraine vs Russia or Palestine vs Israel), when in reality they are uneducated and as Ricky Gevail once said on Golden Globes in 2020: they know nothing about real world. But also celebs in the end are not political figures so I think there is no point of blaming them for what is happening in world right now, or at least not as main center. I feel like blaiming celebs for some things or rather for everything is like form of escapism and easy way to put blame on, when in reality it is also our fault for making them look like kings and queens that can change a whole world and I think we should look into mirror and realize we made a bed by giving celebs relevancy to point of believing that they can change world, especially back in last decade, when we as people should focus on goverment officals who are ones who hold the real power and are using peoples money and taxes to continue wars, frauds or maybe they have their own parties we don't know about and are laughing at us for going after celebs as easy target but not them
It’s about time the people are speaking up and stop putting just anyone on a high pedestal…
"all lies will b exposed"
kendrick: i did some of that work 😤😎
I love when I wake up to a beautiful South African morning, to Toni covering a topic I am interested in. I know it will be well covered if certain creators do it. Love your vids. Happy place rn
Gen x, xillennals, millennials, and z no one can afford to eat so no we don't give a shit about rich celebrities
I used to live Hailey and think she was soo funny, not now having seen her at all these events, worshipping celebrities is just cringe
other talented UA-camrs have covered this topic, but you are my favorite so I waited to watch them until hopefully you covered it, I love your content so much 🙏🏾👩🏾💻❤
It's not gonna stick. People are only cancelling celebs the dont really follow. People are to self serving to cancel the ones they actually support eg the Swifts, Rihannas and Beyoncé, even Kim
I always get mad when people say "well you didn't donate any money yourself so you can't speak on that", trust me I would if I could. I don't have money for a bus ticket and it pains me that I can't donate, but I get furious when I see celebs with more money than they know what to do with NOT donate and be silent about real issues
I'm so happy you made a video was made and all the topics with Gaza, the Met and all coming full circle. It's a start especially when we'll lose TikTok soon so these people better help so we all can live better and help those in need 😤
I think a lot of celebrities have already sold their soul for money and fame, if they had any spine to care about other people's suffering to begin with. They will toe the line and continue to stay silent. But hey at least Macklemore made a song and streaming proceeds go to UNWRA.
Why is Selulu not on your thumbnail? The one who donated to Israhell and continuously pretends she doesn’t understand what’s going on
There’s times I wonder if life will get better for me…and then it’s God…showing me stuff like this that makes me realize how blessed I am to have a place to live and food to eat. There’s so many people out there that don’t have water to bathe and I can take a shower for 20-30 minutes if I want. It’s that and so many other things that keep me in line to quit complaining about how lucky I am in life. Even if single, renting with health issues. It could be worse. I take that in stride every day.
Thank you soooooo fricking much for bringing up this topic
🍉🍉✌
I know sis wasn’t “my man my man my man” over DRAAAAAKE??!!
Yeah Drakeeee, dang I can’t show you guys a little bit of personality without all of this😂 he was my fav rapper growing up, that’s it and that’s all boo lol
Right! Not everyone is an easy flip flopper based on allegations. Some people are just connected to the music and artist. Not the person.
And my reply was to @Toni fyi ❤
😭 it’s not even over the allegations fr. He was just never a “my man my man” MAN 😂😂
@@imanithompson5613 to YOU😂 but to many that’s clear as day thought otherwise love lol
The way they act is such a slap in the face smh
You know what I find interesting about people is that they will continuously give the most horrible people the benefit of doubt, give them a pass, make excuses for them like Jennifer Lopez, how people just take her behavior and don’t ever call her out about it in real time on the spot, people just continuously take her behavior or excuse her behavior but would never do this for a genuinely good person and it’s baffling and rather infuriating and I don’t understand it, when someone shows you who they are the first time, believe it, people will never cancel celebrities/influencers enough for it to be truly impactful, when you got a quarter of million followers or more losing 1-20 million don’t really mean sh*t now maybe if it went above that it may make them take notice but I doubt they’d lose any sleep over it cause that’s only a very small dent in their following count, this why people have more of idgaf attitude cause they know controversy sales and kind sometimes make you bigger than what you are so it make them quiver a bit but eventually people move on and they end being more famous than they were before, nothing really sticks anymore when people try and do things like canceling someone, in the end it doesn’t stick so it doesn’t work so this whole thing may make celebs take notice but I doubt anything more than that will come of it, people are too stan culture with celebrities/influencers too parasocial to the point nothing else matters but these famous people who in reality gives no f**ks about them but what they can do for them
My jaw is on the floor and "oh hell nah" s are flying all over the place here at home. My daughter and husband are avoiding me, they think I'm on the phone with my sister in law that's going through a divorce. Lol
This is DISGUSTING and I very much so am disgusted by it all. GROSS. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE.
Great vid girl! Keep telling the truth in your style!! So well done! 👍🏽👏🏽 Good job Toni!
Been waiting for this post!!
Thanks girl for another informative video. To answer your question; yes make a video about it because I want to get as much information as I can
2:10 i think it’s pronounced “sock-ra-tease” love you ❤
Do y’all remember in one of drakes song he sang “ I used to know you back when you was young. Your brother brought you through and you saw me. That made me think of you so differently” 🫨
Omg YES for the athletes video. Also, the fact that we even HAVE a reference (the Hunger Games) is dystopian in itself and it’s only a matter of time until there’s a drastic shift due to the accumulation of tension and anger from the masses
Celebrities: *breath*
Gen Z: That’s problematic!
Gen Z: “NO EXISTING!”
theyre not paying you to write this kid
These people youre defending dont care about you. They dont value you as a human being. They use their private jets to take a 3 minute flight. They rented out private islands during covid while the rest of the world suffered. They will tell you they care about starving kids and homeless veterans, but dont do shit about it. They sell your children snake oil products and tell them it will make them look beautiful and desirable like them. You arent a person to them, you are a means of making money
You do know that you can leave, right?!?!
I LOVE your videos, so informative & the length is great!😁
Just Fabulous my girl! Just brilliantly done and really human! Thank you so much!
Thanks for covering this..
